15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

Same mate. Only checking one card out of 5. Bought about 730pm QLD time yesterday.

      • +1 vote

Not really worried but coincidentally my fridge died yesterday so I'd kinda like to head into a store ASAP 😂

    •

May I ask where did you get those from? I went to couple of stores around me they were oos.

      • +1 vote

Sydney's far northern beaches. I could see people had been through, but there was at least $2k of vouchers available.
I think the tip is either constantly check your local stores, or head to the outer fringes of your city

    •

I purchase $30 kids card around 8PM and just checked —- balance is $30

No stock of Him or Her at my local

Checked again at Coles world square NSW

    No go

Asked when restock. She didn't know. But to keep trying so I feel like it's the golden ticket(Coles) hunt lol

      thanks for the update, was going to go at lunch but now theres no point ^^;

"A maximum of $500 of Cards may be redeemed at JB HiFi (including online) in any one transaction".

I want to know that’s going to be maxed $500 on TCN GC or that I could mixed with other GCs, eg, $500 on TCN and $100 on Ultimate and $700 on JB GC to pay for item worth $1300?

    •

      Also curious

    •

A maximum of $500 was a restriction imposed by TCN. There's no restriction to the number of gift cards you can use in-store.

In saying this, reading the comments, it seems the restriction's been lifted.

  •

No stock at both Chatswood Coles this morning

  •

Bought the cards easy yesterday afternoon, went fine, and they seem active and on balance this morning.

Did notice that some of the HER cards don't actually have JB listed on the front.

This deal is like a Choose your own adventure Book.

    • How to get over the 5 card limit

    • People buying the wrong Him / her cards
    • Crap, I just bought $500 of the wrong cards and they were not discounted, and Coles wont refund me.

Crap, I just bought $500 of the wrong cards and they were not discounted, and Coles wont refund me.

I did wrong card with the Celebration Swap cards ( Ebay ) but didn't seek a refund . I'm fine with the mistake 10% off EB Games with Entertainment Swap :)

TCN collect too many information for just a balance check. You have to hope that they don't get hacked. Once they have breached your details will be leaked.

I don't see the point to have your name, email and mobile number everytime you check the card balance.

      • +1 vote

They sometimes ask for photocopies of your licence and credit card before they process the gift cards. I drew the line at that point.

      •

You DO NOT have to enter first and last name, and mobile :)

  •

I must say I didn’t really enjoy my ‘adventure’ to watergardens yesterday as my local JB store is camberwell however they didn’t have the Mac I wanted.

5 of 15 cards were active so I was stuck with 10 useless cards.

JB staff were cool and said they would hold the MacBook for me so I gabbed some lunch while madly refreshing my card balance on the TCN site as people here commented about the $500 limit memo gong out to JB staff.

I honestly through by the time the cards loaded at about 1.30pm that I’d go back to JB and they’d say “sorry mate can’t accept that many any more” but they were great about it.

All up I saved $225 via the cards, had a $500 from Telstra sign up recently and 10% off sale so it’s some great savings (especially on Apple) but a LOT OF HASSLE

  •

Hi everyone, Upon looking at the gift cards in store they do not appear as TCN cards but 'ultimategiftcards' (https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au) which work at different retailers to the TCN cards. Can anyone comment further?

    • +1 vote

Ultimategiftcards are a different company to TCN, they're not eligible for the 15% off.

  • -3 votes

    Balance loaded overnight.
However the item i wanted JB hifi to price match is now back to full price.
Never again. What waste of time

    • +2 votes

Ask jb what their best price is. I went to buy a fridge last night that was reduced $100, but cards weren't loaded yet. Didn't realise the sale on that particular model ended last night, so when I went in today I asked the salesperson 'what price can you do' and it wound up cheaper than the advertised sales price yesterday.

It's worth asking at least; you know the margin is there for them to reduce it.

  • +1 vote

SHIT! I just bought $500 worth but only now realised that these TCN HIM cards don't have JB HIFI and Tommy Hilfiger store on them. Online it still shows these stores for these cards, WTF fuming.

    • +4 votes

I believe you purchased the old print version of HIm when JB hifi was not part of the network.

But it should be ok to be used in JB hifi now (even it's a old print version)

      • +1 vote

Thanks, you are correct. Those were the stores available at the time of printing. Whatever is on the website as of now is where they will work no matter what is printed on the packaging.

    •

Might still work as that seems to be the old stock.

    •

Are these the ones with the fluorescent packaging? Are they also discounted?

      • -1 vote

just scan it at checkout and see. If not u don't have to pay.

  •

if anyone wonder, no stock as of right now at Coles spencer and melbourne central :(

    •

they are gone even as of yesterday 12PM

  •

So I got a pub and restaurant card yesterday. The pub card has no balance still. It's been almost 24 hours.
What is the general consensus on what i should do?

    • +2 votes

What is the general consensus on what i should do?

      Have a beer .

      •

Lol that was the plan last night. to use the gift card. Was like, 15% off means i get a free pint.
I still had that pint, just wasn't free.

    •

      Card activated at 10:13 today
Took about 22 hours in total.

  • +1 vote

How does you guys check the balance? When I enter my mobile number into the TCN app i never receive any verification code

  • +1 vote

It’s actually in JB’s favour to convert the cards, they get your money now, and you can’t spend it elsewhere. The longer you don’t use it the less it’s worth and higher the chance of forgetting about it.

    •

Yeh, I'm really surprised they're putting things like $500 limit. So stupid when they're getting full face value. You'd think they want people to spend there

      •

Other retailers are also happily price matching, maybe they'll chill out after the weekend.

  •

Think the party is over :(

    •

What do you mean? Cards out of stock or the fact that JB is getting stricter in their "max $500 and no convert" rules ?

      • +1 vote

My local store were accepting as many as you wanted to use yesterday, but same staff member today said they're not allowed anymore. He's ringing me back later on if he can come up with a work around. He said they don't care as it's all money but they are following t&c's atm

  • -3 votes

I actually have not attempted to buy the cards, because i don’t have things that I need immediately. Don’t want to lock into JB and to buy things that I otherwise would not buy.

But I might go look for some, a modest $700 for $105 saving.

  •

No stock in Winston and Baulkham hills in Sydney

  •

well, i went out early this morning to two coles near my house, only $30 left, bought 5 cards

  • +1 vote

Just a jb hifi now and the manager told the staff that there is no limits to the number of the gift cards that can be used. Am at Marion SA store and it is across all stores

    •

Did you grab HIM/HER cards from around here?

      •

No I haven’t tried but will go and check the coles out here now for you

      •

There are 5 her $100 left at coles within Marion Westfield and 5 him $50 left

        •

Just had a better look they are the older ones no jb hifi on them

          •

@twilsoncrow: Whatever stores are listed on the website will work regardless of what's on the packet. They are just old print.

            •

@denandenan21: Good to know since my local Coles store only has the old print. Did you get the chance to use the cards at JB with no drama?

        •

Nice! Might be gone by the time I'm off work. Checked Edwardstown and Parkholme last night on my way to the gym before they closed, and they were cleared out (not sure what I was thinking)

    •

haha, saw the same manager this morning. he said something along the lines of, "these gift cards will be the death of us".

  • +4 votes

Can confirm no gift card limit at JB @HighPoint, VIC. Got the GCs yesterday and didn't have any issue. Went to JB and got iPhone 12 just before they closed.

  • +2 votes

Hey guys, not sure what is the hassel here, the card will take at least 4 or 5 hours to load the money, my other $1000 Him and Her card which purchased around 5pm got loaded at 8am this morning. they WILL load , just takes tomes.

also some of thr JB store can allow you yo purchase the JB gift card by using Him or Her card, it really depends on the store i think, u just got to try , coz they donot care. these are the Money for JB after all.

the stores in VIC in the eastern suburb are all allowing you to do so. not sure if they have received the memo or not though, but i assume they have as if the JB headquarters sends out tye memo, all stores in Australia should receive it.

just keep trying guys and donot give up in just one JB store. good luck

    •

Lol, some people live in a town with one JB doh.

  • +1 vote

must have a huge backlog of cards to activate and one monkey in the home garage isn't doing it fast enough.

just topped up $100 this morning, see how long it takes. Might go around again after dropping off the kids each morning. Combined with hsbc 2% cashback… it's like doing all these quests in a rpg game with all these subplots. Final reward will be iphone at JB.

    •

Using HSBC cashback what the max you can buy in a transaction ?

      •

under $100. So just split up the payment into multiple cc pay.

    •

I'll have you know that there is at least 9 staff according to this random website I found yesterday

  • +1 vote

I called JB to check up on the $500 limit thing. They said it's only temporary until the 15% deal is over. I assume they are doing this to prevent a tonne of people coming in during Black Friday with 50+ gift cards. I can imagine how annoying the processing would be…

    •

Only when the store is busy but most of the time I can see the staff talks to each other and leaves only 1 person to take payments at the counters. Probably not environment friendly to have all the plastic cards piled up after this “party” is over.

  • +5 votes

Penrith store just said at the counter only 5, I told them yesterday 2 people said it was fine when I called, and the manager just said less then 10 minutes ago they got a note to just let them go. So no limits everyone. I am putting through 10 now at Penrith.

    • +2 votes

It's soon or later as I said yesterday. There is no point saying no to money.

      • +1 vote

so f*** those stores with the shit manager even telling ppl they will escalate with TCN for refund instead of giving them JB gc for refund. Those shit manager should be named and shamed and why should you support such a shit store by spending money there?

        • +1 vote

Good thing is there is always another JB around the corner. Just walk away and support others.

          • +1 vote

@ce5himm: It is a listed company so the difference on buying from another store is only wasting more of your time and fuel. You need to support its competitors to really make a difference.

    •

Hope the Tassie stores get on board with this

      • +1 vote

JB just rang me and said the policy had changed overnight and they'll accept whatever I've got

    •

      Is it Penrith Westfield store?

      •

yep sorry should have said that.

  •

Just called my local JB to check and was told the $500 limit applies to purchasing JB gift cards with TCN cards, and no limits on other purchases

    • +1 vote

That doesn't make sense, just buy 4x500 JB gift card. Still makes 2000.then.

  •

Just went to jbhifi Homebush they said no limits on the gift cards

    •

Do they allow you to buy JB gift cards with the TCN cards?

      • +1 vote

nope they said no to me

        •

but they allow more than $500 bucks in gift card ?

  • +1 vote

Just bought a $100 Him card, paid with an eGift Card swapped/issued by Prezzee from yesterday's bonus $10 deal.

The main thing to allow this to happen is you need to have the full balance of your purchase on a single gift card - no splitting.

    •

Do you need to purchase a grocery item with the gift card, or can it just be the gift card by itself?

      • +1 vote

Nope - you can just buy the card only, make sure the balance in the card is sufficient to cover the GC amount, as OP mentioned no split payment

        •

Is it just coles that doesn't offer split eGC payments? i know woolies has this function but could not for the life of me find this yesterday at the self checkout at coles and had to process it as multiple payments. thanks to the discounts, i'm left with enough to purchase another $150 of these TCN cards, except they're split into $15 and $25 across a few cards.

      • +1 vote

        Card only

  •

Dont forget to stack gift card purchases with your ZIPPAY account if you have one. Total is 18% off giftcards.

    •

      Explain pls or link ?

    •

Dang, I also forgot to scan my flybuys. Could have triple dipped!

  • -1 vote

just bought 4K worth of Him and Her cards this morning lol, activated and balances updated after an hour. make sure you activate your cards and check balances prior heading to JB stores as they would be happy to take more than 5 as long as you don't consume more of their time

    •
    •

awesome mate, do u know what store is this in qld ?

    •

What are you buying a TV did you get all $100 and which Coles?

      •

going to buy iPhone 12 Pro Max and Macbook M1 :)

        • -1 vote

Lol replies to what he is buying but doesn't want to name the coles store he got the cards from… shady as! Let everyone else get a chance to get some cards
