15% off Nintendo eShop, TCN The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub&Bar/Restaurant, Google Play Gift Cards @ Coles

8329

Saw this today at Coles.

15% off gift cards including Nintendo eShop, The Kids/Teen/Him/Her/Cinema/Pamper/Pub/Bar/Restaurant gift cards and Google Play gift cards ($50-100 only)
Starting 25/11 ending 1/12

UPDATE: cards not activate or not scanning/discount at checkout. Coles are pulling all cards out and refund. Some people reported some cards are fine. Wait until this is resolved. Such a shame.

UPDATE 2: some people reported that JB-Hifi has lifted the restriction on $500 max Gift card purchases, so you could try your luck. Please buy max 5 cards only and leave them for other people (including me, haha, got none so far) so everyone can have a smiling Black Friday purchases.

PARTY IS OVER. Well done to those who got the cards. Pity to the people who could not get the cards (me too, tried 5 times, gave up, friend gave me few cards). What a good deal with such a shameful operation that left many people frustrated.

  • Anyone know if SurfStich accepts multiple giftcards?

  • No more cards left at Smithfield, Wentworth Point or Rhodes. None at Oatley. None everywhere pretty much.

    • did you ask behind the counter?

      • Yes sure did!! None left at the giftcard section so went to ask at all counters - all sold out.

        • +1

We've been played, I asked behind the counter if they had any, and the chick looked defeated, she walked to the cabinet and took out 2x $50 Her cards, she was like the thing is she was saving them but I could have them, I was like nah all good (I had 10 from the other day)

  • -3

Around 40 $50 cards remaining castle towers Coles (the ultimate gift for kids $50) 9:32am

    • +1

Are you sure you got the right ones?

      • +2

        no discount on ultimate cards

    • +1

As bruceclipse pointed out below. Ultimate cards don’t qualify for the discount!

  • Coles Caringbah had a bunch of Her and a couple Him left as of 5 mins ago

  • Searched high and low and finally lucked out and found some cards.

Had no problem paying with Coles gift cards.

    • 3% egift cards??

      • Yes

  • Danks St Waterloo and East Village OOS

  • Sydney: No stock at Top Ryde or West Ryde.

What's this? Easter egg hunt early in Christmas?

Had the choice of hunting around Sydney for 10 x $100 cards for a $999 phone to save $150 or buy the same phone with a free $70 voucher and $80 cashback. I chose the latter and absolutely not regretting it.

  • Can someone please confirm if the $500 restriction still applies?

    • nope no longer exists. You might find a stubborn JB but just persist and get them to clarify with another store.

  • Any JB is happy to let customers purchase JB giftcard with HIM/HER card?

    • Nope can't buy a JB gift card with one of these TCN cards

  • can anyone confirm that if the online check balance says the correct amount and it's active, then you won't have any problem purchasing an item at JB HI FI?

    • Yes, how long did yours take to activate? When did you purchase yours?

      • my first purchase was at mid day yesterday around 11am, they got activated around 2-3pm. My 2nd purchase was around 5pm ish, they got activated this morning roughly 8:30-9am.

So i think they get activated between business hours of TCN

  • Has anyone seen any stores replenish their gift card stock at all? Is it even worth going in each day to check?

    • I tried 2 stores first thing hoping for a restock but nothing. I've given up chasing now. If I'm going past a Coles I'll take a look but not driving around aimlessly anymore.

    • Chap at store said he was holding back just a few and releasing them in small batches so they are not all gone in a blip. Nothing about restocking the initial stock though.

Plus Coles introduced a limit of 3 cards in a single transaction it seems.

      • -1

        Just bought 5 no issues.

        • Did you go to Rose Bay again?! I couldnt buy more than 3 at the self-checkout so went through hooman-checkout three times via three different checkout chicks and self-checkout once to get 10 cards through lol.

  • can anyone confirm is those her/him card can be converted to JB GC?

    • the only way you can do it is refunding a product for store credit.

Rose Bay store in Sydney still has plenty of 50s across the Him/Her etc range, there are even a few 100s in Her. Plus good stock of all the others. I need it Ozbargained out to stop me buying, please help!!

    • I was at Rose bay local at 7am and find nothing…near the entrance only some Home/Online card.
Are we talking about the same Coles? Or they restock some cards?

      • Was just there 10 mins ago. Nothing except for 4 $60 Nintendo ones hiding behind the $30 ones

        • They have a long section of cards not by the entrance, its on the opposite side of the till wall towards the aisles.

  • Are they the right TCN HIM/HER cards though?!

  • Yep! Like I say I have been a few times this week! ;)

  • Does anyone know if there are any WA stores with stock? I’ve already called 3 local stores and they’ve all sold out.

    • +1

Try Bassendean or Kalamunda, they should have some $50 cards left.

  • Anyone know if TCN him/her cards without the Jb HI FI picture on the card will work?

    • Yes they do, several comments confirmed this. I've just picked up some as well.

  • I just had JB refund a purchase made yesterday with these cards onto jb hi fi cards. It was a genuine return though not fit for purpose.

    So it can be done.

  • Edit: nevermind that was the ultimate card - none of the tcn left at Coles greenacres

I've got the him card (100) but it doesn't have the jb logo on it - would it still work? 19 numbers in the barcode

    • Should be fine apparently. As long as you got the 15% off and it matches the image on top.

  • +3

I tried more than 5 Coles yesterday and found nothing. I ended up paying someone 10% off face value for $2000 cards, so I can get a new laptop. Too much effort to get discount, not sure if it’s worth it though.

    • yeah that's always a tough choice

  • this becoming out of hand im unsubscribing from this thread good luck everyone

  • My son went to Coles Newmarket (BNE) an hour ago - they have stock - but cashier willing to sell him a max of 5 only.

  • I saw a few left at my local Coles but when I asked, the staff told me the cards do not work for JB Hifi, I paused and asked him if he is sure and he said 100%, they work for the other stores like ASOS, Nike, Adidas etc but not JB Hifi - I wonder if he is just saying that since the gc doesn't have JB on it

    • Old cards presumably. Anyway, on the back of the card, it'll say see a full list of participating retailers on site..
Probably why I could pick up 9 x$100 today (cashier said limit was 10)

      • +1

Thanks NN - so any of the TCN gc would work for JB despite what the staff warned me about?

Read the comment above about JB only being added in Oct, hence not being listed on the olders cards.

      • So old cards with old packaging will work at JB hifi?

        • Yes it will.
They both list the same website on the back of the cards which then lists JB.

          • @jem xviii: definitely will. got the cards without JB displayed on it and have used them all for Xmas pressies.

Anyone know how long these take to have the balance loaded?

Bought five of the $30 Kids card, they activated okay according to the receipt but there's no balance showing online.

    • +1

Based on the comments above: it varies but up to 24 hours. Should be less since the IT glitch from the initial frenzy on day 1 seems to be sorted out.

      • +1

Cool, thanks. I'll check later this afternoon.

        (Fitting username too :P)

  • +2

Same here. Bought 4 cards worth $400 this morning and no balance yet. Called the 1300 number, after mutiple attempts finally someone answered the call and said due to overwhelming sale of cards it will take 24 hours for the cards to be activated. I don't know if the phone I was looking for will still be on special tomorrow :-(

    • try again in 4-5 hours bud, got some at 7.30am and activated by midday

  • -1

I tried looking through the comments briefly and haven't seen anyone with this issue so I'm just trying my luck to see if anyone else is in the same boat as me, or if anyone has the solution.

I went out to get 2 of the "Him" gift cards this morning. Went straight to JB HiFi to buy a couple of things but the cashier said that my cards are not activated. Drove back to coles and they said there was nothing they could do, and I couldn't return the cards. Tried calling TCN but goes straight to voicemail. Checked balance for both cards and they are $0.

Anyone else had the same issue?

EDIT: Sorry, realised I was looking at old comments. Looks like a bunch of people are having the same issue!

    • A lot of people had this issue. Just wait till TCN load them with the balance. Nothing Coles could do. People have been told to wait up to 24 hours.

    • I managed to purchase a few this morning, and all are showing $0 balance.

      • +1

I was told my coles cashier it may take up to 24h

      • Balances are showing now :)

Anyway as of this morning, the following Coles stores in WA are out of stock:
Southlands, Southern River, Maddington, Forrest Lakes

The following have the $30 cards left only.
        Gosnells, Kelmscott

  • +1

Took about 3 hours for me to see the balance come through and can confirm JB Hifi at Caringbah is not limiting…. they asked about mine and the other cashier said they aren't anymore and that they had just put through 60!

  • +4

All up spent 3 hours going to various coles only to find no stock anywhere. For every one person who got lucky enough to score the cards I'd say there are dozens of us who didn't!

    • +1

Just ring around the stores. I originally went around the stores and wasted time getting none but the next day I just called the stores (including stores that ran out day prior) and they were restocked and available.

      • How do they go answering? I’d imagine they get a tonne of calls. Also how do you explain what cards you are after?

    • +1

For every person who scored 20-40 cards, there is about 3-7 who didn't get 5. Well ofcourse some of us got none.

  • back for some good old Oz bargainer frantic buying thread to see whats the latest hapz! Whats new people ?

  • +5

I'm on a road trip right now and currently at Forster.

The Coles here has dozens and dozens of $100 and $50 cards. No one really taking them here as closest JB is 150kms away. Those that want to drive down this weekend. The weather is superb.

    • +1

      yea…n…n.nnahhhhh

    • Are you coming back later today? Cos I need cards. I just got scammed $200 for $250 jbhifi giftcards.

      • Got scammed how?

        • +2

Well I kind of got desperate. I got on facebook marketplace, someone was selling jbhifi $50 giftcards for $40 each so I bought 5, went into car and saw they werent activated. Turned around and they were gone.

      • Who the hell negs someone who just got scammed.

        • +3

There are some strange folk on this site who neg for random reasons.

        • Dw, you made 2k by flipping these worktops

      • Nah, not today mate. Sorry.

  • +13

I just used 54 cards to buy an 85" Hisense S8. It took two team members a minute just to fold the receipt up. It was the proudest moment of my life. I will keep that receipt forever.

Team at JB were absolute legends and were cool with the whole thing.

    • is 54 cards a new record?

      • I suspect some will do more as they are forced to use $30 cards. I was lucky enough to get all $50 increments. Never saw any $100 cards or I would have only "scored" 27.

      • I asked jb staff a on Thursday and the most they had scanned at the time was 59

    • You're probs gonna get negs for "bragging" just FYI

      • +4

Just letting others know what's possible. It was hard work though. 5x cards at a time at Coles - didn't want to draw too much attention or ruin it for others so went to quite a few and tried to avoid multiple trips where possible. Were lots of cards left around here yesterday but I stopped by my local Coles today and saw a girl walking to the register with a 10cm stack (cleared the racks) and I thought, "Ahhh…my people."

Not sure if she made it though or not.

        • +1

          I managed to get $1500 (15 x $100) on day one for a new M1 Mac Mini. Then a further $650 (10 x $50 & 5 $30) for a new Apple Watch Series 6.

I was hoping to get another $1430 for the iPhone 12 but I'm not going hunting for them anymore.

I thought my 15 card receipt was long but holy moly, they must have had to change the receipt roll after lol.

          • +2

            @iShibby: I got a 12 128gb off gumteree today for $900, sealed brand new.

    • +1

Wow! that's $800 in saving, well done!

      • +1

Thanks! It was eexxttreemmeelyyy tempting to buy the $2,888 (RRP $4,495) 75" Samsung Q80T 75" so I could claim over $2K in savings, but the layout of my living room makes it difficult to have anything other than the couch being about 7m away from the TV. In the end I checked both out at JB (standing 7m away from each!) and for me the extra 10" was worth going with a slightly lower performance set…and forgoing the bragging rights.

The size of my receipt made still made me feel content though. ;) It legit must be 8m or so long.

    • Great success!

  • +1

Feels like the card value is manually approved even though the card is activated at POS? Bought some after lunch yesterday, took 3 hours for the balance to show online.

Bought more in the evening, balance did not show until after 9am this morning.

    • Oh I was wondering what is happening. I bought mine a few hours ago, registered them and then tried to use them. Checked again just now and still not active.

*Edit - how do you get the cards manually approved? When I buy them from Coles are they automatically activated?

      • I don't know for sure, only guessing that they were manually approved.

        • Yeah fair enough. The whole process to get them activated is not clear. Doesn’t tell you anywhere that it can take hours to activate. Mine took over 6 hours in the end. It’s an issue on TCN’s side that they are aware of and it’s due to increased traffic.

On a side note I didn’t even get a notification on OzB that you replied. What’s the go there?

  • Is there any jb hifi in western sub melbourne can accept more than $500 gift card?

Just cme back from geelong jb and they are not accept more than $500

    • They all should be now, I would get them to clarify with another store

      • Mod updated the post on 24/11 saying $500 is the limit.
