  • I missed the plus only bit :(
Its been like that for a few months now, just with a different plus code.

    Waiting for the super firm.

    • Seems the coupon applies to the Super Firm range as well, though eBay Plus still.
Bought the King Single for $167.20, free postage.

    • super firm… is really super firm. I generally like firm beds, but super firm is like sleeping on the floor basically. definitely no false advertising there!

      • +1

        Excellent.
I usually choose to sleep on my carpeted floor, instead of the bed.
        Thank you!

        • awesome! you'll love it then :)

    • I went on eBay on Monday I think and grabbed one for $270.
Arrived yesterday, haven't slept on it but it feels a whole lot nicer than the one in replacing (year old 'this' mattress)

Very firm, still soft enough top layer to feel comfy.
I hate the current one, so my opinion of the brand is shaken, but I think it's a personal thing not a quality thing.

      • +2

Am confused…….why would you buy the same mattress if the year old (same) mattress isn't comfie?

        • I think I just worded that bad.

I just purchased the guaranteed firm, to replace the 7 zone, which I've had unhappily for a year.

  • just pulled the trigger on this. one of the few sellers i was interested in

    • Which did you get, the "Super Firm" or the "7 Zone" ?

…and for other readers, what's the difference between the two versions?
(I mean be specific, don't just say it's the name, or one is firmer lol)

      • +1

From what I can tell, the firmer is just that - firmer.

The firm is thinner, more traditional mattress thickness, compared to the above average or luxury standard thickness of the 7 zone.

The firm is much heavier, likely because the main difference is the thickness of the springs.

        Edge is shit on both.
        Both look great.

        7 zone is quite soft.
The firm is slightly softer than carpeted floor.

  • How comes it's so cheap compared to sealy or koala?

    • +5

Furniture companies have humongous markups. I bought a king single from atelier a year ago and I can attest that its worth the price

    • +4

      Less markup.

Also, a few "cheap hacks" like using extra firm springs on the outer edge, rather than a reinforced edge wire-weave.

      • I own 3 of these and can confirm though that the edges are much softer than normal mattresses. If you sit/sleep on the edge you will definitely notice the difference. Still, worth it IMO.

  • +2

I have one of these king size, IMHO it's great.
Would these be suitable for a toddler first mattress though? (upgrading from cot) She is 2.5yr old, prob get her in to her own bed over next few months. I love a bargain, but would not want to risk anything for child's sake (spine, posture, etc) just to save some $$$

    • if you're worried, get a memory foam topper.

"Modern beds" havent been around long enough for evolution to make us require them, imo.

When you have a damaged back, you're encouraged to sleep on the hardest surface available (hard means the muscles do less work to keep the joints supported).

      • +1

It depends. If you're a side sleeper you don't want a really hard surface.

    • I've the same question (but 4.5 year old).

    • +2

They are fine for kids, very comfortable. Note that they are thicker(?) than most other kids mattresses so if you have a bed frame that is already pretty high off the ground it might be too high for your kid to climb up into depending on their age and height.

The edge support is less than a standard mattress so it's a bit annoying for an adult to sit on an edge to read a book etc.

    • +3

      Absolutely.

In my experience, they are prone to sagging for heavier adults and couples once the mattress gets beyond it's second year, but for kids or anyone under 60kg they hold up very well.

I've got two which are both around two years old. The eight year old's king single is as firm and supportive as the day I bought it, though the adult's King has a bit of a groove where I sleep. Rotating more would have helped and to be honest, I wouldn't even notice except for comparison from the occasional lie down in the kids bed. Both remain very comfortable. My King mattress replaced a ten year old $3,000 mattress and was a huge improvement to comfort and sleep. At sub-$300, if I ended up replacing it every 3-4 years, I'm still miles in front. But to the original question - it's much better than standard, thinner kids mattresses and will hold up fine for many years.

    • Get a junior bed frame for cot mattress :)

  • +1

love this mattress. had ours a couple of years and it remains a dream. pun intended? i don't even know anymore.

  • I bought one queen-sized mattress in late 2018 and a double at the beginning of 2020 from the brand. The latter claimed to be an upgrade of the previous one. However, I prefer the 2018 version, which is much softer and comfier.

  • +6

Lots of complaints of sagging over time on productreview, those that bought in previous deals have any comments on longevity?

    • +1

I did a lot of research on mattresses a year ago. I began looking at $2k mattresses and ended up buying the Zzz Atelier.

Talking to a mattress salesman on Ozbargain, he told me that all mattresses with foam tops sag, no matter what brand you get.

Mine has sagged a little bit over the past year. Not much, but you can feel it. Either way I don't really care, it's the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in.

      • Thanks. What firmness level did you get?

        • +2

I went through that drama of deciding; im gonna get an assured firm.

Its thinner, so my mite cover will still fit.

It has ZERO sagging complaints on review sites.

An elderly member here says its "still fine for side sleeping"

And people have compared it to sleeping on a click-clack futon; which I think is still pretty soft.

I can always add a foam topper; MUCH harder to take softness away….

          • +4

            @MasterScythe:

MUCH harder to take softness away….

            cries into KFC bucket

        • I got the standard one, not sure what it's called but it's the one linked in this deal. From memory there's only regular firmness and super stiff firmness. To me the regular one is still about a 7/10 firmness anyway, I like it.

      • thanks

      • +2

        Sagging = lower back issues.

Trust me, I changed my mattress and my lower back improved 50%.
Mattress is the single most important choice you can make for your health long term.

I wouldn't be trusting a $70 mattress(That's about how much these cost or less). I would say good for a spare bedroom, or young children who don't weight much. I think it does depend on your weight tho.

      • I purchased the *5 Zone Pocket Spring Bed *Latex Foam Euro Top *Chiro Endorsed in March 2018. It has sagged little bit but still very comfortable.

    • +3

Ours sagged about 2.6cm after 18 months, at that point it became quite noticeable and a problem. Their sagging warranty is 3.8cm, I couldn't keep using it until it reached that point and got an Emma mattress, not as comfy/cushy, quite firm (no pillowtop), but almost no reports of sagging.

As downhillar mentioned, pillowtops are generally going to sag eventually.

    • +1

So far I had bought 2 King's, 1 Queen and 1 King single of this mattress. First one was one and a half year ago, it's still great.

  • Perfect timing. My order of another mattress from a previous deal just got cancelled and refunded a month later.

I bought this mattress for our spare bed and it's been great, so I'm now ordering another for one of our kids. Thanks OP.

  • This or Super Firm?

    • +2

I have this one, and I find it quite comfortable. It's certainly not a soft mattress, but there is a bit of cushioning there, so if you prefer a firm mattress the I guess go for the super firm.

      • I agree. Personal pref I guess, same ppl find it too soft?? . I also find it firmer than expected. It feels like a medium firm which I think it is. I'd like a medium next time. Having said that I'm still quite happy with it. The edges however are quite soft (eg. its hard to sit on the edges). Been going for a year for me now and no sagging problems yet.

    • I have super firm mattress and have just bought one more. Being brought up sleeping on firm mattress, i have always preferred super firm as I personally feel no muscle pain in the morning which I felt while sleeping on little softer mattress. It can be little too hard for side-sleepers but your body gets used to it after a while. At least you have an option to add soft mattress topper if you feel mattress is too hard/firm.

  • +1

Bought a single for my 8yo last year and he loved it, although I found it still too soft (ordered a firm).
The edges are reinforced but still too soft for an adult to sit without collapsing and sliding off.

Shame OzMattress is gone. I'm sleeping on the mid range King size now and it's one of the best ever. Evenly firm all the way to the edges.
Sits on 2 single divans, which IMHO is the best idea ever from OzMattress.

    • Assured Firm hasnt arrived yet? Im literally ordering now; but keep delaying for opinions :p

    • I have the GrandMaster, btw I emailed them and their original manufacturer still does mattress's apparently. You could possibly try contact, see if they respond now and can do something.

    • Has that firm arrived yet? Wanting your opinion :)

      PM me if so :D

  • Does this have edge support?

    • I'd say no from my own experience and opinion

    • No, it has fake edge support iirc; "extra firm" springs around the perimeter.

  • +1

I just ordered this one for $240 (on sale) two days ago: https://bedstory.com/mattresses/gel-memory-foam-mattress#/29…

I was debating between BedStory and zzz atelier and chose the full foam (and cheaper) option for now. If it doesn't work out, then I might get zzz next. I was gonna buy zzz but got put off with the negative reviews re: sagging.

  • Why does it say free postage but when add it to my cart it adds $43 postage even though I'm a plus member?

    • Yes me too looking at a single and it shows 20$ although I am a plus member.

    • $69 for me in Perth. Might be free delivery if you live inside their warehouse

    • Looks like free delivery if you don't live in WA or NT, I'll update

  • +5

I've had a Queen for a year and a half now, massive sagging on my side, I'm only 83kg, 185cm, athletic build.

We are moving home soon and safe to say, we won't be taking this mattress with us.

Probably better suited to a spare bedroom

    • +2

Mine too… I can't really work out why it would.

It's definitely not a long term bed for me :(

I wonder if the Super Firm will be firmer - I have the Black Label Super Chiro edition, or whatever it's called

      • +1

Pocket Springs are garbage, that's why. Its $200-300 including postage. As I've mentioned these cost about $40-70 to manufacturer, what can you expect.

        • I thought pocket springs are the best? Maybe these are just crappy pocket springs?

          • +1

@Droz: I feel like it's the latext that seems to need constant readjusting.

Not sure how it all works really, this mattress lark is the most confusing and deceptive thing ever.

Koala / Sleeping Duck are all cheap mattress-in-a-box mattresses aren't they, just like this?

            • -1

@Droz: Basically, however as they're selling them for 4 to 5 times as much they probably do you some better quality materials

          • @Droz: Nope. Pocket springs are bad, just good cartel-style marketing.

The "woven" springs are easily the best, as anywhere thats heavier on your body, is correctly supported by the next spring section next to it, when it compresses. (Like a chain link fence, one section will pull the next)

Thats also why they are so 'disturbing' to your partner.

Pocket springs are perfect to not disturb someone, but that, and cheap, are the only benefits.

    • +1

Yup, was fine for a few weeks but the sagging starts and never stops.

Relegated to guest room (in other words unused). Knew we should've spent more and gotten a proper spring mattress.

      • I'll be purchasing a Sleeping Duck for our new house bed, I'll see how that fares. The reviews and people I know that have one seem to comment on it fairly positively.

        • +1

If you're going to spend SleepingDuck money, look into the Bellissimo range by Makin'Mattresses.

          • @MasterScythe: Can you suggest which one is decent? I see they have a ton of different ones, makes choosing difficult…

            • @bliss35: Belissimo are double the price :( it's too much for us.

        • +1

Aren't sleeping duck mattresses pocket springs?

          • @Droz: Hybrid of memory foam and springs I believe. I've only heard good things, my good friend has had one 2+ yrs, no sag or visible indent so far. He's a fairly meaty fella too.

            • @bliss35: Meanwhile 2, possibly 3? (Bad memory) of my mates hate them with a passion; just due to the quality vs price.

If you're willing to spend actual money on a mattress, it seems silly to go for a mattress in a box solution.

Go try a few in person.

  • Can someone please tell me the difference between these two (besides the price)? I can't for the life of me figure it out…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/QUEEN-Mattress-7-Zone-Pocket-Spr…

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Queen-Double-King-Single-Mattres…

  • Anyone know how they are able to deliver this big thing Australia wide?

    • +3

      It's a mattress in a box

      • But these have springs. You mean they've manage to compact the springs as well?

        • +1

Yes, that technology has been around for quite a while now.

        • +1

Yes, Spring Steel needs heat to deform. It has a SUPER high yield strength. You can crush them flat and they'll bounce back.

  • I like firm but I'd get this over the super firm. In fact I think I have this one? And its quite firm, just with a softer layer on top of the firmness is how it feels. I like it. Great value and makes the expensive mattresses look like daylight robbery.

  • I bought a couple of singles and a queen of these and whilst they are comfortable enough the edge support is not there and overall id question the longevity of these based on the build quality.

For a small kids mattress or for a spare bedroom they are great value but I would suggest you spend a little more and get a decent one for daily use by an adult or teen.

  • How to get free delivery? $69 for me

    • +1

      Don't live in WA ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I've updated the deal to be more accurate

  • Are these shipped full-sized or are they compacted down a fair bit? Moving houses soon and wondering if I could order one now and fit it in my car to movelater.

    • +2

They are compressed and rolled on the shorter edge, iirc king single was about 35x35x100, extrapolate from that what you will

  • Free delivery also excludes some outer Melbourne postcodes

  • +1

Got a queen one of these back in March 2019 and still using it. Does sag a little bit over time but still gets the job done. Cant complain for the price

  • In-regards to sagging, it says 10-15 year warranty? Just simply return?

    • +2

You need to provide few photographs with different angles using their guidelines to justify the claim. They are quick to respond and you don't need to return the mattress in case they accept your claim and the amount will be fully refunded.

    • +1

Keep in mind that their definition of sagging is quite extreme - around 3.5cm under no weight.

  • +3

I have successfully claimed refund this week for the queen size mattress from the seller. Sagging within couple of months was never expected! However my first experience with the same seller was brilliant back in 2018. I would definitely recommend them for their customer support and quick warranty claim process.

    • Nice! Did you need to send it back or did they just provide a refund with proof of the sagging?

  • +5

Hate this mattress. Bought 2 after the first 2 weeks being heaven.

Then it started sagging under my weight (87kg) and it's now impossible to sleep on without rotating every 3 days.
My girlfriend's side remains great though, so its definitely a great mattress for 60kg people.

If you are over 80kg, I highly don't recommend this mattress - way to soft.

And the edges are garbage, 0 support.

    Quality seems really nice though.

  • +1

Just an FYI on this mattress, it's terrific FOR THE PRICE. Let's put the price into perspective though.

I have at home 2 x Koala mattresses, 1 x Sleeping Duck & 1 x ZZZ Atelier. I slept mainly on the ZZZ before I bought the Sleeping Duck, which happens to be the best mattress for my body size (i'm 6ft / 140kg), but honestly preferred the ZZZ Atelier over the Koala.

I think for the price you pay, it's a great mattress. Mine did sag on my side and can confirm the edges aren't the strongest so you can "slip" off the edge if you're a heavy lad like me. My sagging started at around the 16th month in or so, but I've kept the mattress and put it aside as a guest mattress, and I get nothing but complements on it when people sleep on it!

    • +3

I have the ZZZ King one and I have been sitting on the side of the mattress every single morning before I get off bed. It's fine. I guess it also depends on the height of your bedframe

  • +1

Can someone please recommend a budget mattress which does not sag like this one and is not pocket spring? Or if not budget which one is fairly priced?

    • +1

Bedstory. They do full foam ones for even cheaper.

      • And also come with some horrific reviews regards to sagging and deformation over time.

But again, for the price they are fine - like ZZZ, especially for anyone with a medium frame or less.

        • Really, if you're OK with foam, your best bet is Clarke Rubber, and layer your own solution up.

Ive done this once when making a caravan bed; was fun to try all the different combos.

  • +2

It looks like a Dell Optiplex in the thumbnail

    • +2

      yeah, 9020.

    • +2

Sleep on the sweet sweet comfort of enterprise grade black plastic.

  • If we buy from ebay do we get the 60 days comfort assurance?

  • Just dropped over 1200 on a new mattresses. Coulda had em for 500. Ouch.
