  • Any recommendations for the accessories?

    Also curve edge vs normal?

    • +2

from one of the previous deals thread:
      damnable on 17/06/2020 - 08:53
What are your thoughts on the curved option you went with?

      NinjaBear on 17/06/2020 - 10:15
I prefer the aesthetics of the curved option but to be honest, I don't see it being much different to the straight edge desk top (just lose a bit of space of course). If you have a very large monitor, I would go with the straight edge as you don't want to sit too close to it.

      • +2

If you have a very large monitor, I would go with the straight edge as you don't want to sit too close to it.

        This exactly.

      • if you like leaning on your table and reading, ill go edge for sure, i tend to do that alot when standing

    • +1

I'm happy with the edge. I sit close with the desk low. And the central frame bar can hit my knees. If I had a curved desk this problem would be worse.

    • +12

I bought one a few weeks back during Halloween sale and got the following:

      • Curved edge on the 72inch/XL: It allows me to sit in close and rest a little better when standing as I can rest my arms easily.
      • Under desk PC mount: Holds my case. Glad I had a drill though to attach it as there are no pre drilled holes for this. It's actually quite awkward to install based on the screw positions.
      • Monitor arms (ARC Pro Dual): I like these, they look sleek and you can move them in any direction, position or height you like with absolute ease. I have them set up with a 27inch and a laptop mount holding my Macbook. I'm also using the USB passthroughs to make it easy switching to my PC.
      • Laptop mount: It's black, matches the arms, does what it says on the box. There are plenty of cheaper ones online.
      • Wireless charging pad: Wouldn't buy again. Often takes a few tries to get a spot that works. Slow.
      • Cable Management Bar: This was free when I ordered and should really be standard all the time I reckon. The power box for the desk is stored in the middle frame which comes with the basic purchase but the cable management bar sits close to the back where the hole is in the centre of the desk.

Shipping to Melbourne took exactly 7 days from ordering to arriving even though said might take 14.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase. It's been a great, sturdy desk in last 2 weeks I've been using it.

My advice for anyone who orders. Skip the build instructions that come with and watch videos on youtube.

      • Can the Arc pro dual handle 2 monitors? The picture on the website suggests being able to support 2 monitors but the description only says 1x 32" monitor

        • Looking at the manual now, it shows two in there. 1 - 15kg x 2 Rated. 35" Max.

        • Yes, I'm using a 34" UW and a 27"

          Very sturdy arm

      • Does the monitor arm get in the way of cable management bar? Do u have to drill holes yourself?

        • Cable bar was easy to attach. I recall holes already on the desk for it. The monitor arm clamp sits right up against it. In fact it's probably easier to attach monitor arms first then attach the cable bar. Either way, the monitor arms feels very secure.

      • Thanks for this - useful for me as I am also looking at the 72inch model atm. Given that the table is so wide, the only real concern I have is whether the table top will start bending/sagging (and to what extent if so) with 2/3 monitor setups, and perhaps even more so when the setup is on an arm such as yours where the weight is centred on a pivot - any observations on that on your end? Considering longer term implications on this front too

Also what's the difference between the Adjustable Centre Cable Tray that comes with the base purchase and the Cable Management Bar purchase add-on from a functionality standpoint - can you manage with just the former? I'm assuming the former is equivalent to the power box that you mentioned but correct me if otherwise

        • +1

No sag or bending on mine but it's just one monitor and the MacBook. More weight may change that but I'd personally have no hesitation adding an extra monitor (I intend to). It's solid.

RE the cable management bar that is currently extra dollars: it is designed to hold a powerboard, or 2. The frame cable tray that holds the desks power stuff is quite flat, runs down the centre of the desk and I doubt you'd fit much in there beyond cords. It also has a bottom cover.

You could scotch tape stuff upside down as an alternative to the bar. Also checkout the "Increased Stability" section on the omnidesk site. It shows both the tray and bar in the photograh in that section.

    • I'm running Asus PG349Q on a straight edge desktop. Simply perfect. Curved would be too close I'd assume.

  • Just ordered a 60" Acacia! Thanks :D

  • +1

how does this compare to the megadesk? however im actually after a quaddesk

    • +1

I want an Uber one like they have on news programs (I.e. BBC News) then they present standing up in another part of the room. The ultimate western decadence.

  • Thanks OP, was waiting for this sale - order in!

  • +1

I got one last year, easy to setup and build really well

  • Anyone have an idea on the frame dimensions ? Don't need the desktop.

    • +5

I just measured my 72inch/XL desk frame:

      Between the two legs:
      - 180cm across (actual desk top width is 183cm)

Top leg depth (the two side frames you attach to the desk)
      - 57.5cm (actual desk top depth is 76cm)

      Bottom Leg depth
      - 67cm

      • Great - Thank you!

Was just reading old thread here about BF sale they had in 19' which was 51% off.
    Old thread: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499819
I have been waiting for a decent sale.

To wait till Nov 27th and risk no sale or snap it up now? Decisions….

    • +3

This sale ends December 6th. I don't think they'll do better this time round.

      • Think you are right, they have announced this sale as their "black friday" sale

  • +4

Interesting it used to include cable management bar but with this sale its not included anymore?

    • Dunno when that was, last year when we ordered it was optional.

    • +1

Yep that was included in their Halloween 2020 sale promo

I was thinking of going with a more manual Ikea desk. It's larger in size and cheaper (because there's no motor).

Any suggestions of a good chair that helps with ergonomics to overcome neck and lower back pain?

    • +1

True, cheaper IKEA one makes more sense. Though its cool to have a motorised one. However, from my experience, once I setup the right height, I don't see myself hardly change it. Over the last two years I only changed the desk height at work 3 or 4 times. So no point paying foe something which you wont be using.

      • I think it depends on what you are using it for. I bought the small sized Omnidesk a year ago and regret not buying the larger sized one. It's very sturdy and I shift the table up and down very often. I eat while watching anime as well so I bring the height of the table higher when I do that. I uses PC for like 12hours or more per day so I frequently time myself to sit and stand in between.

All in all, I did not regret buying it. I regret NOT BUYING BIGGER ONE

        • i think you can buy a bigger table from anywhere or the original makers and just screw it on. those legs i think are the same and the rail in the middle can stretch i think. i bought mine from zendesk space cause i couldnt wait, got it 2 hours after ordering it cause i was in brisbane. Both desks i think are similar if not the same. best investment ever.

    • +1

Manual one is a pain to change back and forth from sit / stand position. If you're planning on doing it several times a day I would save up the money and get the motorised on with a memory function. Or save money by getting good legs and a cheap top.

  • It does not show a discount is applied to my order? here

    • I believe discount has already been applied - although information not shown in cart.

    • You chose the 72in in length version which costs an extra $130

  • Shipping to QLD is $100 :/

  • +1

Great product and I do want one, but hard pill to swallow after missing the last deal.

    • What was the last deal?

  • I bought the frame from groupon deal and bought a wood panel from Bunnings.
Finished the whole assembly in three hours.I made 600 x1300.
Will get a cable management tray from eBay of other online shops. Also will make bracket for power brick/ Belkin multiplug
The frame and control here looks same as the one I got.

    • keep in mind that the groupon desk is not what is advertised, the desk you get delivered has lower specs than adversied

  • +6

Last Black Friday it was 40%. I was considering buying if it made it to 50% but at 35% .. meh :D

For anyone that is still looking for a sit stand desk, check out this spreadsheet that compares that majority of electric (and manual) sit stand desks. Many hours were spent researching the different brands and retailers, although it looks like the formatting its a bit wonky now and I dont have the time to fix it (you can look at the previous version history to find the correct version).

For anyone interested, I ended up purchasing a 1800x750mm Custom melamine desk from ZenSpaceDesks with cable management channel. If you guys want to know any more information, feel free to AMA.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/11LXiimhecg-uI2mnGE5K…

    • +1

You can actually get the Matrix Executive Desk for a lot cheaper than the $700 listed in that spreadsheet by buying from Officeworks (cost me less than $400 delivered) but I wouldn't recommend it. The issue is that they've awkwardly placed the motor right where you want your knees/legs to be.

      • Did you try to reverse the table for the motor to be further away?

        • Yep but the motor is fairly large so there's no escaping it. The table would be perfect if they just put it in the side or in the corner.

    • Regarding the cable management with zenspace. Do you know of its much better or different compared to other companies like omnidesk?

If not, do I need to specially have to have a zenspace desk to install it on?

Wss thinking of getting the 8 plug power port on the cable management with it

      • The Channel is pretty good. It fits a powerboard (or more) and multiple cables tucked away nicely. In terms of compatibility to other desk, you could get it to work if you drilled holes in the right spots of your desk frame. I personally didn't get the 1plug stuff as I figured a powerboard would fit in there and with all the cables tucked inside the channel, there is less cables to show outside the frame and/hit my legs/knees.

Here is a video on installing it so you have an idea of what desks it suits (pretty much all). Where you can drill holes on other frames to fit it and also what the sizing of the channel is like.

        Hope that helps mate.

        • +1

I ended up buying the 4 port power panels x 2 cause it clicked in, looks neat but yeh abit pricey. I ended up buying a power cube from officeworks for $50 which has like 4 ports around the cube with 2 usb and stuck it on. i believe both motors and legs are from the same manufactuer for omnidesk. so just comes to the table type/size and price. i might of went omnidesk if that sale was on but got scared of the 14 day wait. Zenspace desk got to me in 2 hours after i ordered cause i was in brisbane.

  • Got mine in Halloween sale, unfortunately couldn't wait. Just a warning to others, mine was delivered to NSW before I received a tracking number from Omnidesk. Took two business days to receive it after order, crazy fast service. And yes, instructions are worse than Ikea, watch the video.

  • Does anyone have suggestions for a 2 person desk? My wife and me work from the study sometimes and need nice desk to fit a 3mx3m room for both of us. Any suggestions are welcome and thank you for your advice!

    • Perhaps buy 2 x S size (122 x 76) desks?

  • +1

I'd never heard of these but they look great. Wish I could afford one right now.

  • Any way to get just a frame?

  • +1

Getting pretty pricey once adding a few accessories. May be waiting until 27th Nov to see if they introduced some kind of "one day" deal only. This one lasts until 6th Dec anyway.

  • Does anyone know how to turn on/off anti collision on this table? I assume it's similar to the Artiss as the controller seems to be a OEM component. The Artiss instructions are not very well written

    • i assume its the same for omnidesk , since zenspace desk has the same motor/legs. The aniti collision i think its pretty crap because i tested it with a seat under my table and it kept going and pushed itself off the floor on one side and stopped. i originally though it has a sensor so it would stop before hitting anything. i suggest you set min/max heights and lock it (i got kids around) when not in use.

      • I believe you can set different sensitivities, but I’ve got to work out how to turn it on first

  • -4

This whole damn thing looks like overpriced OEM gear.

$550 for the same dual motor/stand elsewhere iirc
    $100 table top eg: https://www.bunnings.com.au/2200-x-600-x-26mm-acacia-solid-o…

Wheres the extra $350 that they want from me?

    • +2

$350 goes to marketing, customer service, tech support, freight and most importantly, not having the need to design/DIY the table?

The way you are comparing this is like comparing house building materials vs off-the-plan houses.

        • Customer service - for set-up. No value. "The instructions are worse than ikea.. Watch youtube" as per user comments above.
        • Customer-service for warranty & warranty itself: sure. If you cbf putting a picture of it on social media you'll get 3(?) more years warranty.
        • Post is included in $550 for the frame. So no diff there.
        • Post is not included in $100 with bunnings. There is value there.
        • Tech support. It has like 5 buttons. If it doesn't work it needs replacing.
        • DIY is the same. They all come disassembled. The only difference is you might have to pre-drill four table holes for the DIY version.
        • Marketing is not a cost that any sane person wants to pay for when there's an equivalent product easily found.

So it requires an extra social media post and $350 in return for an extra 3 years warranty and four pre drilled holes.

$350 covers two thirds of a new frame… It's a disproportionate cost for warranty.

Not trying to be rude but your analogy is totally wrong. It's more like buying a house and changing the carpet. Piece of cake :p

I'd pay extra yeah.. But it seems it needs 45-50% off.

        • +2

Thanks for putting a thorough effort to persuade against purchase. Well done!

          Just ordered one anyway :D

        • +2

never seen cbf used to mean "can be effed" before haha

    • hey mate you know where go to get the same motor and legs, i might make another one myself.

      • This is the thread I was thinking of. Https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/579702

        • cheers mate, can save like 50% if i do it myself now

          • +1

@kennyshin: Yeah. If you buy the table top from bunnings just get them to cut it on their machine if needed. A cut is $1. Although actually I don't know if they decommissioned all their machines now. If you cut it you can varnish or oil it or whatever if you care.

Tip: find the table top BEFORE buying the bottom so you'll know you're happy with price and size of it.

            • @justtoreply: man thats a big saving doing it like that. i might go hectic since im saving so much cash and find someone of facebook for a nice wood piece to screw on top. thanks again for your help mate!

  • Been wanted to get this. Let's see if I win the competition first though haha

  • Any way to order this without a tabletop?

  • Shipping kills the deal for me. Disappointed they didn't discount it more to be honest. Was looking to buy the largest version, but found this one from OfficeWorks instead for cheaper if you click and collect. Seems to be dual motor and has presets too: https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/stilford-s…

  • Has anyone used the add on Power Clamp? Interested to know how useful it is. Its got a HDMI passthrough - unsure how that works.

  • +1

Are the 122cm version's legs and crossrail identical to the 183cm version? 152cm model's underside here: https://youtu.be/GAdI5rQBC5A?t=171

If they're charging $65/130 just for a wider tabletop that scratches easily, that doesn't seem very good value as you could almost buy a solid block of wood for that much.

The price of all the addons also looks more like regular pricing post-discount as you can buy many of those things cheaper normally ($80 for a cable management bar?).

    • Same legs. They expand out if needed. Says this somewhere on their site iirc.

      • So does this mean if I were to get the legs without the tabletop I could make my own desk anywhere between about 122-183cm? Or do the legs lock in at each of the three sizes essentially limiting you to the 3 sizes available on the website?

Problem I have is that I'm moving next week and unsure what size will fit in my new work space! I know the small one will fit, but it's not big enough for me, and the next size up might be a fraction too big so I may need to have a top custom made which is slightly smaller than the middle tier desk top size.

        • Sale will be on until December so you have time to move then order.

        • Don't know how the legs function. But as long as the table top is thick enough it doesn't matter how the legs work as the desk top will just cantilever past the legs.

The thinner the top is and the bigger the cantilever the more it will deflect when you put weight on it.

If you don't want to go beyond their largest size I can't see the problem. Just don't go too thin on the top. You'll get a pretty good feel for what's too thin at bunnings. Or ask in this thread for someone to measure the size of their top for you.

Yeah as serpserpserp says just wait until you move.

  • Anyone comment on the quality of the table top? it says it is only 1.8cm thick…

    • What do you want to know? I've had mine for a year now, looks basically the same as day 1. I use a drinkl coaster and one of those very large mouse mats that covers your entire keyboard/mouse area. Works well. Great desk to date. Albeit not cheap thats for for sure.

Found code TWEAKTOWN for extra $25 off

    • Thanks work for me.

  • would it be worht waiting till the 27th to see if there are any better discounts

  • does anyone have the power clamp or the Motorised Power Riser

  • I currently have a heavy duty L-shaped workstation and looking to switch over to a height adjustable desk but I am worried about the stability of these desks.

Could someone please comment on stability/wobble when sitting and standing?
Given that the desk is supported by 2 legs only, does the desk or monitors wobble during usage?

I am assuming with 2 legs and the extra height when standing that all of these height adjustable desks would have some type of wobble.

Does anyone have any experience with https://www.ausergo.com.au/products/heavy-duty-sit-stand-des…?
    This looks to be sturdier.

  • Is this the same frame as this from Epic Furniture Boost? $630 for the Oak Top 1.8m. About $180 cheaper. https://epicofficefurniture.com.au/product/boost-height-adju…

I am wondering if the curved is worth it and is there less strain on wrists. I would think that would only be true in sitting position and having the monitor closer to you in standing (majority of use) would be bad for you?

  • Bit the bullet and got one, thanks!
    Here’s hoping I don’t win the comp 😂

  • Anyone purchased the 'additional 2 years warranty within first year of delivery'? How much is it? I couldn't find any ifo about the pricing.
Btw I'm tossing up between Omnidesk and Zenspace because of their difference in warranty. Zen is 10 yrs while Omni is only 5 yrs. Does sit & stand desk stop working quickly after a couple of yrs?

    • Hey mate I’m looking too and leaning towards Omni as it has a 100 day return policy…

But my thoughts could change tomorrow, I want a bamboo top and they look pretty much the same… so yeah zen for the warranty..

  • Anyone installed wheel castors on these? Trying to figure out if these frames are compatible with them

  • Large (60x30in) on pre-order now ships late Dec
