Good price, thanks OP : )

    • Wow cheapest ever. Amazon getting in early before other dealers have similar it seems. Surely no one will go cheaper on BF

      • Videopro have same price

  • Which is better - Sonos Beam vs 2 x Sonos One SL for better surround sound?

    • Depends if music or tv. Ones can’t connect to tv easily, unless stream thru Apple TV

      • Do have Apple TV,

    • +2

A Beam would sound better. One speakers are designed to compliment a beam/arc/playbar etc

      • Now that a single Homepod can do Dolby ATMOS I'm kind of leaning towards it rather just "surround sound" of even say Beam.

        • If it’s purely for movie watching then yeah that’s a good option too :)

      • Beam better for voice with dedicated centre channel for mid frequencies

      • I don't know heaps about Sonos but seems like an Arc would sound good (more $$)

I am looking at Samsungs rears for 150-200$ish, hard to even know if any titles are being decoded or broadcast in whichever format (from chromecast with google Tv -> Samsung Q70t)

    • I’d go with the Beam to be future proof (at least a couple of years)

      • Saw a rumor somewhere that might be revised beam or new sound bar coming. Can’t remember where now, think was watching late night YouTube recent review of the arc

    • +1

Surround for 2 speakers go better job if you have a bigger space. To me beam is a little narrow.

      • Go the Arc, can be had for 2200$

      • agree re the narrowness of the beam, sound seems a bit contained to the box

    • I use a beam and 2x play1 😂
      Sounds great

    • Two sonos one sl has better stereo, sonos beam has better surround sound tricks

    • For TV, def the beam. Here’s my 2c

      I own a beam and 2 SLs

The beam provides decent sound BUT the bass is somewhat disappointing, at least for me.

The SLs are great for music and if you can afford buying a beam the surround sound is pretty good.

      • Add the sub, it picks up the sound greatly

I have beam + sub, thinking about 2x ones in the future but not sure of how much better it will be, possibly as rears?

        • +1

yeah can't really add the sub lol live in an apartment building.

Ones great for rears lol especially if you love action movies

  • These are the outdated ones without google home right? I couldn’t find any mentioning of that on the link

    • -3

Okay yup confirmed! I may wait for the newer ones but for those buying these don’t forget the $10 amazon voucher on the other deal

    • +6

They are the microphone free version. Not outdated.

    • Thanks for pointing out , just Cancelled my order, waiting for Sonos one instead as this speaker and Sonos play 1 hasn’t got any microphones inputs

      • +15

This isn’t outdated, it is very much aimed at people who do not want the microphone feature at all.

    • These are the outdated ones without google home right?

Sonos Play 1 was released October 14, 2013.
Sonos One was release October 27, 2017.
Sonos One SL was released September 12, 2019.

Sonos One SL replaced Sonos Play 1.
There is an opinion Sonos has to release a version without microphone to sell it to a growing number of privacy concerned users.

So Sonos One SL is the latest in the line. I've never researched if it is built on the same hardware as Sonos One.

      • So the SL is the same hardware as the one minus the mic?

I remember a teardown of the IKEA version which was basically a Play1 which has cheaper? components compared to a One, or basically the IKEA version is just a Play1 in a different shell. I was always thinking the SL was the same components again as a Play1?

        • I just found this, explains it a bit better.

So yes the sonos SL has more “grunt” than a Play1 and probably the same components as suggested in the article since it can support AirPlay2

          https://www.pocket-lint.com/speakers/buyers-guides/sonos/142…

        • That’s true

Also no google assistant and no Alexa

          • @YLD1: Well, how do you use either without a microphone?

  • +2

Surely Sonos One will come down to around $220 in a few days

  • 4% cashback and if can get a discounted gift card through eg suncorp another 3-4%

  • I have a smart one at the moment, can I pair these together and just talk to the paired one and it will work in stereo for better sound?

Not sure if anyone here has tried it.

    • +2

Just incase anyone else wants to do this, seems like its possible:

You can now pair a One and One SL in stereo, a set-up that looks and sounds good for the money. Simply give your two speakers different names then click on either speaker in the Sonos app and select ‘create stereo pair’. You are then prompted to press and release the pairing button on whichever speaker you want to be the left of the pair. Do that and you’ve created a pair of stereo speakers where the One can handle voice activation.

      • +2

You can, that’s part of the reason for the One SL, so people don’t have to pay for a redundant mic on the second speaker in a stereo

  • Gee that’s a good price.
Perfect if pairing as surrounds with the Sonos beam or arc as they already have the microphone allowing google/Alexa home and therefore not really needed in the surrounds..

  • Black OOS, only white left now.

  • Great price OP. Pity they're not doing the same % discount off other Sonos speakers!

  • +1

I gather these are way better than Bose?

I have a way too many speakers, still have two of those Sony $99 ones from Big W that were down from like $260 in the boxes 😂😂😂

  • I bought a king living sofa and was wanting to buy a pair of these but understand that you need a sonos soundbar to make it work rather than using this as surround sound speaker to pair with my Sony soundbar.

    Can anyone verify this? Cheers

    • +2

No, I am afraid it is not compatible with a King Living sofa. Freedom Furniture should be OK though.

Also, will not wirelessly connect to Sony soundbar.

They don’t have any links anymore but the store rep said the brackets can be used only for Sonos.

I bought the smart sofa (the one you can hook up and charge your phone) and the brackets.

But when I called sonos, they said it cannot be linked with any other brands soundbar which was a bit disappointing.

        • That looks very restrictive.

  • can you make lg c9 output to this speaker? already have two homepods, but can only use with atv.

    • Only with apple tv thru AirPlay 2

  • Has anyone tried setting up a 5.1 - does it work with Netflix?

    • +1

      Yes.

Optical from TV to Playbar, wireless to Sub and 2x Play1

  • Both colours sold out :(

  • Does anyone know these speakers One/SL great in mids and lows? I found it very ‘light’ and doesn’t have much bass. I’m not interested of getting a sub. Try keeping the place clean

    • +1

Quite decent for the size. I wouldn't go as far as calling it light, but from your question I can tell you know what you're listening for. In that case the Play 5 is what you're looking for.

      • Thank you. Yes, I just went in store to checkout the Sonos Play5. Much better bass but lack of the stereo thrill from two Sonos One/SL. It just slightly wider sound.

  • that was quick :(

  • +2

I was under the impression the Sonos One SL had Bluetooth connection. Bugger.

I'm about to cancel my order if anyone wants to buy one. Just keep refreshing and Amazon will probably relist it in a few minutes.

    • It does but not for audio. From my understanding it uses Bluetooth to help devices find it as an audio device.

    • Does beam or Arc has Bluetooth connection for audio?

  • Sonos direct is offering $70 off their rrp

So you can get a similar deal and possibly stack it unidays discount?

    • Where's the $70 off rrp? Can't see it anywhere…

  • +2

IMHO if you want airplay 2, bluetooth and google home, the JBL links (music or portable models) are a better option. Also a little lower in $.

Sonos lack of bluetooth / a semi-decent android app is a PITA. I have a play 5 gen 2, but decided it was an ecosystem I wouldn't invest further in.

  • Great price but I’m holding out for the next gen Google Home Max. I have the nest mini’s right now and they’re so much better than my original Home speaker.

    • Are you sure there will be a next gen? I was under the impression that the recent Google Nest Audio replaced both the original Google Home and the Home Max. It sounds pretty good. Not as loud as the Home Max, but a more balanced sound, with more mid and less bass. Also a more manageable size.

  • +2

Looks like will be the price elsewhere too if anyone still after it
