    "Any BARGAINS?"

    - JV

    • plenty jaker

    • +5

None, none at all for 2020

  • Looking to pick up some stuff from Myer. Go for the early bird sales or just wait until 27th?

    • +1

I’m waiting. I’m not bowled over by Myer’s early deals. Hoping for better tomorrow.

  • +2

3400$ samsung 719l French door fridge now 3999$ (Great BF deal haha), looking until now its complete rip off. this might change after probably saturday when they under pressure to sell more???

  • I'm off contract with JB/Telstra plan. I was going to port out on a pre-paid and then see what comes out in the sales. Guy at JB told me today minimum 30days ported out as they are cracking down. Anyone else heard this? Furphy??

    • +3

Yeah that's always been the case. Your number has to be out of telstras system for 30 days (so can't be boost, belong or Telstra prepaid ) to be eligible for the gift card promotion.

    • +1

can always sign up to a new number, then go to telstra online contact and get them to transfer your current number to the account with your new number.

      • This seems to be the solution! Make sure you've got the giftcard first.

      • Telstra refused to do it for me.

    • Same! I’m finishing my contract end of Dec. I’m thinking of going to prepaid forever actually..

  • +1

that 2019 banner is triggering me

The 2020 Black Friday deals are lacklustre…..Covid-19 still not making shops do good bargains?

    • +1

Yeah. They're the same deals they did every year around this time even before Black Friday started in Oz.

      • +1

I managed to get $99 gaming chair from Kmart.

I saw the catalogue from JB Hifi and they are a joke. Either same price as competitors or more expensive.

        • JB hifi they don't need to give good deals because their business has ramped up due to Covid-19

    • +2

I've found the same, pretty much no reason to part with my money so far. I've got a bunch items on my hit list and none of them are coming close to prices earlier in the year or years before.

  • +1

Does anyone know if anyone will have the Nintendo Switch Fortnite bundle on sale anywhere ? I can only see the Mario Kart bundle being on sale at Big W and Kmart.

    • Still $469 everywhere

    • Sorry mate you missed Amazon prime Nintendo Switch bundle (mario) deal just an hour ago for $339. It's available at several places for $399 in a bundle now though on Amazon prime now, JB Hi-fi in the morning Friday. Sorry not Fortnite.

  • +9

Metamucil, tea, hand wash, sauce, this is going to be the most boring Black Friday ever.

    • +3

2021 summer body here I come

    • So far I'm feeling it.

  • I'm after a 14" laptop for my son's schooling. Needs 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Is Black Friday the time to jump? Or do you wait for Cyber Monday?

    • +6

There doesn't tend to be a difference between them anymore.

It would now be more accurately described as '4 days of lacklustre deals', so grab your lacklustre deal on any of the 4 days and just remember there will be another similar deal in a few months. :D

  • +1

website is a bit slow. ozbargain getting ozbargained?

    • +1

      Yes sorry, see here.

      Unprecedented traffic levels as expected.

      • +2

People are just F5ing in vain.

  • +6

so called "bargains" when each store has the exact same mark downs…. jbhifi and good guys have the same models on same for exactly the same amount

    • We are not colluding… i promise.

      • +12

JB and The Good Guys are literally the same company…

        • +1

          TIL.

          • +1

@AlphaSquid1604: Crazy that both of them started in Melbourne, within one suburb of each other! They were close to where I grew up, and I have vivid memories of going to both 'Mighty Muirs' and the original Centreway JB for Christmas/birthday presents.

Neither store still exists if anyone's curious (pretty sure the OG JB outlasted the OG Good Guys though)

  • +6

Did someone forget to tell retailers that it was Black Friday?

Was ready to buy a few big ticket items but not at full retail.

  • +9

    Pretty weak deals so far

    • +5

Extremely weak. I'm not enticed to do any spending thanks

    • The coles jb gift card deal is good if you're looking for a cheap macbook

      • -2

        Cheap
        Macbook

        • They're on sale at JB

  • +4

Most if not all my PC parts list is the same, on an entire system build its $15 cheaper, glad I waited 3 weeks :(

    • Exactly. Nothing at all on my build list is on sale. Completely ridiculous when i can at least buy the parts overseas with shipping cheaper than the local "prices". Should be plenty of room for some discounts

  • +6

Lots of great "Deals" so far…
Last week Tarocash 30-70% off. Black Friday OMG OMG OMG and incredible 30-70% off…
Jetstar $39 Blackfriday Fare frenzy Yeah that's what you did last week too??
Cotton on well I guess you don't do 30% off every week, oh wait yes you do and you did last week too.
Not many discounts of value this year so far but early on I guess.

    • Tarotrash is always like 30-70% off though.

      • +4

dude thats whay hes saying are u illiterate

        • +1

No, just a hasty reply. My bad, I blame baby brain.

  • +2

OzB website getting smashed… Constantly getting bad gateway message.

  • +2

    OzBargain is getting OzBargained!!

  • +2

what is with jb pulling pixel 5 off their website. hmmm

oh and bargains are pretty shite to be honest.

    • oh what happened with the pixel 5?
and there was no sale for the handset right?

  • TLOU2 for $35 delivered, pretty happy with that.

  • Got a bunch of games, not too bad.

  • +4

There's so many awesome deals that are not making it to the frontpage because people are posting deals to quickly.

  • +5

Where are the real deals?? Feel black friday is cancelled this year!

  • +6

So far its been Sad Friday. Nothing worth buying has come up… yet?

  • +1

Finally got an ASUS VG279Q for myself. My son has one and I don't mind 27" Full HD, and in every way that counts for me it is awesome. Not the best bargain I've ever scored but a decent discount and they're getting harder to find as the newer VG279QA1 and VG279QM are what's being sold instead now for the most part. But those have slightly different features and flaws and I wanted this one.

  • $5 coffee is the deal I got. :D

  • +2

Consumer hype to purchase for this event is high - why would they go all out on discounts?

  • Black Friday Matters 🍩

  • Is it possible to filter out posts that are started by employees/store associates etc..? Scroll back through the last gazillion pages and 99.98% of them are absolute 1 or 2 + garbage clogging up the first few pages.

  • +1

    Just hodl

  • +2

Adidas outlet was pretty good. 50% off storewide. I went to Birkenhead point and picked up Ultraboost for $60, adizero adios 4 for $70 and shorts for $12.
    Not bad for Adidas gear.

    • very nice deals. never see close to $60 UB online

    • Did they have any decent colours for that price? I always assume those places get raided for size as well.

      • Adios 4 was your typical black and white colour. That's my go to colour so was happy with that. Ultraboost was the Ultraboost DNA which is pretty similar to OG models. Was white with a dark burgandy cage. Looks pretty good.
Shorts are shorts. They look good as Adidas shorts. Nice dark grey colour.
Overall you're right. If you don't go on Friday like I did the place is pretty much wiped out. I'm glad I got what I did considering I had work meetings until 11:30 so couldn't get there from opening.

FYI Nike outlet has this terrible scan QR code wait list system. I arrived and the waitlist said I was 303 in queue with a 9.7 hr estimated wait time. In reality it was 4hrs but still pretty ridiculous.

Got Pegasus 36 for $65 and Metcons for $70 and a Nike shirt for $12

  • I'm holding out hope that Cyber Monday will be where the deals are at. For the last few years Cyber Monday has just been the dregs and leftovers of Black Friday but maybe that's where the magic will happen this year? Can only hope!

  • Nothing too special this year, feels like retailers have been doing OK with the government response to Corona and that we havn't be as affected by it. Hope things improve next year but they might get worse :S

  • +4

If it wasn't really for Cashrewards/Shopback and a few Amazon deals, you wouldn't even know it's Black Friday. Pathetic.

  • I don't see any good deal from JB, but there was a long queue to go in to the store on Friday afternoon. I have a feeling those are uninformed shoppers, assuming black Friday have good deals.

    • jb has 30% off dvd / bluray / 4k at the moment so that will bring some punters in
it goes till tuesday 1/12 so i'm dropping by that afternoon hoping they put out the 4k lord of the rings & hobbit packs (released 2/12) out a day early!

  • +2

Lot of hype not many real bargains. Didn't need anything anyway. Best time to buy is always when people are generally tired and broke which is typically January

  • Any sales on LG vacuums?

  • pretty crappy sales overall. That awesome company apple knowing up parents have to forcibly buy our kids ipads 7/8 for school and cant get education discount as not uni havent given a black friday deal at all on them ;(

  • Last year I didn't buy a thing but I did well this year. It's not without some ozbargain veteranisms though. Mostly from Amazon.

    • Picked up the Fenix 6 from JB, reduced from 1399 to 699. I missed out on the amazon price match and therefore, the shopback.
    • Myprotein stockup. Paid $80 for 2.27 kg. Got it for $62 with the APPONLY10 discount from amazon.
    • 12% off a DJI Mavic Air2 with combo. More than the DJI discount which was poopy.
    • The Dell Monitors deal.

More than anything, I'm using the discounts to claim price protection.

  • I think it's a bit better than click frenzy.
Some good prices on booze 20-25% off, all ended now, spent about $100.
Looking at Croc/Under Armour (for shoes)/8TB Seagte Hdd or WD Blue 2TB ssd/gift cards (Ww & Coles), so far.
Crucial MX500 2TB SSD $269 Delivered @ Shopping Express also a good buy.

For anybody who's interested in the Sony X9000H 65 inch - It's $2295 most places. Highly recommended for PS5, amongst other things.
Deals for the 55 and 75 are floating around but that doesn't help me so I called JB HiFi and the manager offered it for $2250 :(
But then I called the Good Guys on their dedicated sales number 1300 942 765 and got it for under $2000 :)
So I saved $300 and they sent me a link to my phone via SMS. All I have to do is pay for it. Sweet!

  • +1

    Virco 5600x + 3070 for $2248
Dell alienware luna 240hz 450$ (saved over 200)
Foreo 2 for my wife $90 was $210 (so i can buy the above)
First black friday for me, really happy

  • Was the biggest $ saving, the Garmin 6x Saphire @ $700?

  • Whats been everyone's favourite bargain so far?

    • The pen from Peters of Kensington - I ordered two of them since I know a few pen nuts … something like 80% off RRP, hard to argue with that!

I also quite liked the deal I posted which was on ollocip lenses for mobile phones. Not really black friday as it will go till just before Xmas but still.
