No such thing as premium kogan

    • +3

Never heard of polishing a turd?

    • The bonus the two founders have just given themselves, with shareholder approval, is premium. $110 million premium.

  • They are good but I wish the fan could tilt back a bit more so you can get the airflow higher.

  • +1

I have two of these. Between 1-3 it’s pretty much silent, 4 up though and you hear it. Still quieter than a normal fan, ideal for some breeze while you sleep.

jacked up in price just in time for the sale … https://pricehipster.com/product/jnDf8iOlveEaGWL_xp1Njg~5Uei…

    • +1

Could Price Hipster have mixed up between the standard version and premium version? I have never seen the premium version below $80.

      • Yeah, I suspect there is a mistake.

    • That’s Matt Blatt price not Kogan listed price. But product is exactly the same. Matt Blatt was bought by Kogan sometime back.

What's better? This fan or the Xiaomi Smartmi DC 2S?

  • +1

Believe this is a new version and it's nowhere close to the old one in term of built quality and it's very noisy!!!!

    • +2

Exadurating a bit. I have this and the first few settings is basically silent. Great in bedroom. Yes it makes some noise higher you go but of the 5 different fans we have its easily the most quiet.

    This:

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/breville-the-airdynamic-3…

is better. I'm sitting in front of one now. Bought with the last 11% off offer at JB plus 5% off gift cards.

  • -2

Over $200, for a pedestal fan, really??? Just buy one from bunnings for $15 and put up with the fan noise which isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be.

    • which isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be.

That's your opinion. Some people like to sleep in a really quiet room.

      • I have to sleep with the fan noise or some other white noise…

    • -1

which isn't actually as bad as people make it out to be.

      Very untrue for sleeping.

    • If you have the money, why get driven around in a Rolls Royce when you could be hooning around in a Mitsubishi Mirage?

Arlec 40cm DC Pedestal Fan $49
Mistral 40cm DC Pedestal Fan With Remote $59
Kogan DC Motor Pedestal Fan $69.99
Dimplex 40cm High Velocity Pedestal Fan - Chrome Finish (DCPF40C) $89
Kogan Premium DC Motor Pedestal Fan $99.99
Hyundai DC Motor Turbo 3-in-1 Air Pedestal Fan $119.99
Xiaomi Smartmi DC Conversion Pedestal Fan 2S $139
Teco TECO DC Motor Eco 40cm Pedestal Fan TF40DCEPRAT $149
Kambrook 40cm DC Quiet Pedestal Fan White - KPF849WHT $149

I want to buy the Kogan fan (standard or premium - still dont know the difference between the 2) but Im put off by all the comments about the new versions being inferior. Xiaomi and Hyundai both look good but Im worried about not really pushing enough air to really feel the breeze during the day.

    • +1

Apparently the standard doesn’t have an lcd screen and it only has 4 speed settings

      • FWIW in your list the Xiaomi Smartmi DC Conversion Pedestal Fan 2S is $119 currently (+ shipping)
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/583564

Extra $5 off if using the app for the first time using APPLOVE, or more if you have a Commbank card with the cashback offer. And free shipping with Kogan First trial (may as well… sign up now, and if there are any good Black Friday offers later this week you're covered).

EDIT: originally added wrong deal link

    • I own the Kambrook and the premium Kogan one. They both do the job but they aren’t equivalent. Kambrook has 26 speed settings vs 12, way more modes to use which are great. The Kambrook has a much better controller, the Kogan one you can only increase the speed setting which is frustrating. Overall is it twice as good? Probably not but it’s definitely better experience with the Kambrook and it’s not stamped with the cheap Kogan label.

      • Kambrook is $149 though at big w, that is $70 more

  • Is this better or as good as a high velocity fan? Can't believe they jacked up the price

  • +1

I bought 4 of these last year in Nov. All 4 are in bedrooms.
As above people have said… The first 3 levels of speed are pretty much silent running. Great for sleeping, and provides enough of a breeze.
Speeds 4 onwards to 12 obviously get louder. But even 4 is OK to sleep with.

  • So … whats the verdict? This or the Xiaomi?

    • FWIW I went with the Xiaomi 'coz the battery sounds genuinely useful based on several people commenting on being able to move it around.

  • -1

Price jack then give 20% off?
Kogan already got fined by the ACCC for this before! Kogan is just the worst, creepy and proven ILLEGAL practices.

  • Do not buy this fan. My first one developed a metal scratching noise everytime it oscillated to either end - Kogan to their credit sent me a brand new one last week. This brand new one after a week of daily operation on oscillation has now also developed the same problem. Trash.
