Probably a bit of a niche product but if you've ever built your own fence or retaining wall or anything else that needed a lot of post holes dug and you have done it by hand then you'll appreciate this. Wish I bought one of these when I was doing those jobs!!

  • Anti-vibration structure for increased comfort
  • 200mm auger bit ideal for fence posts and stumps
  • 40cc full crank engine for powerful performance

Take the time and effort out of digging with the Homelite 40cc Post Hole Digger. You can expect more than enough power from the 40cc full crank 2-stroke engine to handle a variety of ground conditions. Generating 1.1kW of power, you can guarantee the job will be done faster and smoother than manually digging. For any fence posts or stumps, the included 200mm auger bit can ensure you always get the right result. And to keep your engine safe, your Post Hole Digger comes with 76mL of 2-stroke synthetic oil. certa digger cheaper at kogan with 3 attachents. only $189

  • That Kogan one certainly reads as a better unit.
How likely are these to break my wrists? (is it worth for doing my suburban fence myself)

    • How many post holes do you need to dig?

    • Unlikely to hurt you.

Most one man units have a simple clutch built-in that will engage if the auger catches on something (you will hear a loud click and it will stop the auger).
On first appearances the Homelite version does not seem to have a clutch system, buyer beware.

      The main problems are:

      -Limited to <200-250mm auger size (a 100mm x 100mm square post has a 140mm diagonal)
-Weak if you have hard soil or rich clay
-Limited to <700mm depth and extensions are pretty sketchy due to the thickness of the shafts

    • Depends completely on your soil. If you have rocky soil, I would get someone in to do them. If your soil is just sand or easy clay, it might work.

    • Main thing when using them is dont wrestle the machine and put your whole bodyweight in to pushing it down. Just let the machine and the auger bit do all the work with as little downforce as possible.

Great! Thanks OP, this will be perfect for arguments with my wife when I just keep "digging a hole" as she says.

4 stroke is shit.. These are good for garden soil, not much else..

2 stroke all the way & the 2 man augers are much easier..

Hire from Kennards if U need 1, they only hire 'Stihl' & they're 2 stroke with balls…

  • Its $369
