Mwave Rush Hour Sale - Samsung G3 Station 2TB HDD, $109 ATM? During Rush Hour 8PM-9PM 30 Nov

81

Hey, saw this in an email, im sure some of you wouldve got it too. Due to the recent floods in Thailand/Malaysia the price of hdd's have soared, as alot of the factories were destroyed. Even at the mwave price of $109 is still cheap imo, so under $100 (id assume itd be at least $10 off in the sale) is a bargain. Sale only goes for an hour from 8pm to 9pm.
Only thing is its USB 2.0, probly why its cheap.

  • quoting from your info "Due to the recent floods in Malaysia, price of hdd's have soared" pretty sure it was Thailand and not Malaysia mate

    • Why're you negging the deal? It's a good deal just because you don't like the company doesn't mean this post deserves a neg… just don't vote…

      • why? so that mwave don't get the business

        • vote for the deal and not for the vendor.

        • now that's just personal…

      • "doesn't mean this post deserves a neg"

      • :S why are you linking news from a little more than a year ago?

      • -1

lolol..the news apparently a year ago and KL and penang are the distributor area of hard drive are far away from thai border. i think you're the rep. nice try. just saying :)

          bjon and johndoe

Both negs removed. Please read our guidelines on voting They are there for a reason. Ignoring those just dilutes the power that a negative vote has. People have less respect for the vote and start ignoring it, rather than it being a true warning.

And John if you suspect someone as being a rep and you are truly concerned about this REPORT it, that way mods with extra facilities to hand can investigate and catch offenders - negative votes dont do that.

We are negging because of the OP's lack of historical/geographical knowledge now????

      excellent!

  • One minute googling: as I suspected.

"NEW YORK (Dow Jones)—Seagate Technology Inc.'s (STX) raised outlook indicates it will benefit longer than expected from higher hard-disk drive prices because of flooding in Thailand.

The company has suffered from component shortages following the catastrophe, but its facilities in the country stayed dry, unlike those of rival Western Digital Corp. (WDC). The resulting shortage in hard-disk drives has led to a surge in demand, allowing manufacturers to command sharply higher prices and run unaffected factories at high capacity."

A problem for one company becomes a rort for all the others. They'll keep this one running longer than the banana rort.

Btw, the have the price on now, its gonne be $89 + $7 delivery. You might want to update your post.

Thanks for letting us know the deal!

  • These are decent drives, unlike the Samsung Story I had. I'm tempted to buy a couple of these, but I don't really need em. XD

  • Interesting the removal of negative votes. service and support not offered or warranty failures are not issues taken into account in the voting system. shonky companies like mwave are effectively protected or Have I misunderstood the

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines?

References to a deal imply warranty and support - not Mwave.Voting is on price only - if it don't turn up or don't work Ozbargain seems to see these deals as someone elses problem. Wonder if this comment will get me banned?

    • enforcer, bad service, support, warranty offers are fine for a negative votes. An explanation would be good instead of "this merchant is crap".

      Quick guide:
Suspected sockpuppeting, any other suspicions, incorrect title, missing price in title, incorrect description, missing rep tag, and anything that a moderator can change then use the REPORT button, not the NEG (or POS). Operators are standing by.

Commenters: Don't make it personal. Don't direct votes at the OP but at the deal

OP: Don't take comments or votes personal. It's not an attack on you. Water off a ducks back.

      • thanks neil. trust me i dont. care factor 0. but im not shy in coming forward if you catch my drift.

  • Thanks for the clarification neil - I am still learning - now I have some idea of what the report button is for as well.
