Geez how fast things change, a month ago I would have jumped on this in a heartbeat. Now with 6800's out with better memory and performance these are not so attractive at that price.

  • YA GO A FEW HOURS not checking ozbargain or whirlpool ha - and I almost missed it. But just managed to snag a Gaming OC. Yeah arguably it's still 'inflated' but at $920 - if shopback pulls through - not by MUCH; it's a better card than the Founders Edition or other lowest-end cards. Lil concerned cos some people have still been having problems with the pins on the Gigabytes, re: reddit and Overclockers forum, but (obviously) hope mine is fine when I get it and will be aware and careful about that. I was running out of patience n maybe two days before Black Friday is a dumb time to do so, but I'd been literally contemplating going yday/today/tmro and buying one of these for $1069, so…

  • I'm getting a refund on my old gpu and broke even so looking to nab a card up on Black Friday.. Have heard stores are keeping a bit of extra stock for it as well.

    • +1

Any stock they might have would sell out in minutes at well above RRP. Why would they hold onto it just to discount it on Black Friday?

  • I am not experienced with these parts but will this get cheaper in the near future? How come this is so much more expensive than the RRP I've been hearing about.

    • Unrealistic expectations. Generally, REFERENCE cards are the MSRP, and then partners make their own.

Nvidia this year released a reference spec, then tuned their own card such that the MSRP price is a bit unrealistic.

The AMD MSRP is what a reference should be, and then partner cards will have a slight premium, maybe $100-200.

      besides the MSRP problem,
I don't think 3070 is worth it anywhere between $1000-1200. I believe if you can spend such amount on a card, I'm sure you can spend $1249 from a FTW3 3080 from PLE, yeah granted you will have to wait a month. But it's a card that performs much better.

If the wait, or power draw isn't the concern, it's definitely best just to get the 3080.
Personally me having paid retail price for a 3080, I can't imagine paying anything more than $900 for a 3070 (hard to find one at retail of $809 - cheapest available I could find was $869 which is a pre order).

its a popular product and plenty of people are wiling to pay a premium for it (however not me)

A month? Pretty unrealistic and wishful thinking. Pre-orders from launch date aren't even 20% fulfilled yet.

      • Wait 'a month' for a $1249 FTW 3080 from PLE? A month would be after Christmas, which means something to people, but also you're just pulling these timeframes out of your ass - it might be january, february.. And how much did you pay then for your 'retail price' 3080? And why are you even on an Ozbargain thread about graphics cards having gotten a far better one at a far better price?

Some people might be interested in your comment and what you have to add (however not me)

        • ok

        • its February min, cuz while people may have pulled out, a ton more keep adding themselves to the pre order list, you ain't getting shit this year.

          • @dbmitch: possibly even worse now after today's disappointing 6800 launch

      • +1

I bought this deal for $900 after cashback and it's better price-performance than a $1259 3080 (40% more expensive for 25% more performance). It also will come in 4 days instead of Febuary like the other comments have mentioned.

It's gonna be good when all you blokes are broke, and I'm just waiting here to pick up the scraps.

    • infinite weekly payments from scomo = never broke

      you lost

    • be sure to tout your scraps

    • Should have bought in straight after the announcement, I've made so much money from that, easy $100-$200 flip per card

  • Where does one get discounted ebay gift cards from?

  • +3

Thanks OP. Just got myself one after confirming 6800xt launch was even worse than 3080.

Guess AMD have to wait another few years for me to go fully Red.

    • That AIB 6800 and 6800xt pricing is shocking

    • So you were in the market for a 3080/3090 performance card, but now settled on a 3070 for inflated cost. I guess you must be desperate.

  • I'm curious to know how much TI's series will cost after this buzz

I am surprised it's not sold out. demand isn't as strong as I thought and hints a price drop

  • cashback is tracked! didn’t get an email but it’s shown on my app

  • Doh Bought 2 days ago getting delivered tomorrow :(

  • Cashback tracked at 4am. $101.77

  • IS this the one with the capacitors that cause system crashes? or the ROG type that don't

    • it's the one where the pins bend/break when u plug it in. lol but I hope not/hope that isn't widespread anymore

i remember paying in the 400$ range for my 970 GTX back in the day, wow PC is expensive these days.

    • Unfortunately I think it’s the same with other techs as well, mobile phones used to be under 1k for flagship devices but now reach 2k :(

  • My 2060s perfectly good till mid next year when these will be $600-700

  • Is this tonight aswell?

  • +2

Anyone got tracking yet? Got confirmation that item is on its way.
Edit: Never mind looks like it could potentially be here tomorrow.

  • +1

Cashback tracked this morning, ordered last night 8pm & my tracking says it may be coming tomorrow earlier then expected (Monday), in the end am happy that I didn't mess around with the queue & also used discounted ebay gift cards to bring the costs down further, hoping it's worth the upgrade from my 1060 OC Strix 6GB

    • +3

Ordered close to 10pm and its expected tomorrow as well

      • Anyone onboard for delivery? Looks like I think because it was sent express it should be overnight but sounds like it might be Monday delivery.

        • yep, onboard for delivery

          • +1

@Leonidas: Aww, looks like mine was set to come today but hasn't made it onboard. :( Which state you in? Was hoping to have it for the weekend. Stuck with onboard intel graphics. Yikes.
Edit: Skipped the check in to the airport and just got delivered. Cheerin!

  • It's now AU$1275.

  • I received mine and to my disappointment the unit has bent power pin, neither the 6 nor 8 pin slots can fit. I have tried all 3 cables on my RM750X but fail and try the cable on my old GTX 1080 and they slide in easily. This apparently is a problem with Gigabyte card here
    https://www.reddit.com/r/gigabyte/comments/jw3dzx/gigabyte_r…
I have contacted Futu Online but looks like this is going to be RMA.

    • How bad are you talking? I used a tweeser on mine and it fixed it up. I had to repaste my cpu and take out my gpu again earlier today and it can be plugged in and out just fine. Not worth the RMA tbh if you can fix the issue.

      • Unfortunately I'm not confident enough to fix the pins, plus I'm away this weekend. Gave me a fright last night when I spent half an hour trying to plug the power adapter cable and like wtf why is this so hard, what have I been doing wrong. Put my old Gigabyte GTX 1080 in and it slides in easily.

All in all I'm truly disappointed about Gigabyte this round. I thought with GPU being sold like hot cake then the new batch wouldn't have issue but no. My SN starts with 2043 like the one on reddit, some of this batch still have issues it seems.

You don't happen to be the Josh guy on eBay that I just sold and had to refunded the GTX 1080 because of this issue do you? Would be amazing concidence then.

        • Yeah too easy. Nah not me just coincidence.

  • I thought The 3070 was going to be $700 according to everyone on ozbargain for the last 3 months

  • The Gigabyte 3070s here are back in stock and the same level of discount is working with PRESS20.

    • Where? Which shop?

      • Futu. Out of stock again now.

  • +1

This is in stock again with PRESS20.
