  • Is the gaming x for $309 worth it over this one?

    • +1

Yes. More silent+rgb if it matters

    • +1

For an extra $10, most definitely! Gaming X has 0 RPM fan mode, RGB and slightly higher boost clock.. not bad for an extra tenner

    • Definitely, I just ordered the Gaming X version. As others have said; quieter, higher clocks, more OC headroom, but also has higher memory bus speed.

As mentioned in the recent relevant deal for those who missed out on the ebay shopback promo

This actually has free shipping, can also get $10 off with newsletter subscription, brings it down to $299 delivered.

      • How do I get free shipping? when add to cart cheapest shipping option is $13 to sydney

        • I'd like to knkw this as well!

        • +2

Ah yeah shipping isn’t coming up as free at checkout, even though it says free shipping Australia wide on the product page.

        • +3

Should be sorted now. They had a glitch on their system and the free shipping option wasn't showing up.

      • I wonder how long this deal will last. I'd like to wait until monday for any better deals, and possibly get this if nothing better comes up around the $200-$300 range. Also want to say I didn't mean to neg you. I upvoted you at first, then saw free shipping didn't work so tried to undo it and now it's stuck.

Is the 1660 ti on their site for $339 worth it more than this?

      • I was wondering the same thing

        • Same. I'm leaning towards the super because the performance gains don't seem too disparate on paper. I would love to know if the gddr6 of the Ti will one day shine through. Might bite the bullet.

At the same time, I'd prefer a 2060 just to be safe. Out of reach for me, but I downgraded to 1080p a few months so I could limp my 10y old cpu through

      • not really they are very close, a slight overclock would basically even or beat

    • +8

Just called them, they said they will get the free shipping fixed in about 3 hours, I'm gonna wait for the free shipping

      • confirmed free shipping is working now, thanks :)

This or save for RTX 2060?

      • +2

You’re better off waiting for the 3060.. last gen RTX GPUs are still clinging on to RRP levels with the high demand

        • This or save for RTX 2060?

30xx is out of my budget range (and probably case size)

          • +2

@DarthPyro: I imagine the 3060 will somehow still be 800. Even though that's what the 3070 is meant to be at

            • @RI4V4N: yeah, too much. My question remains.

            • @RI4V4N: Prices for 3000 series GPUs are higher than RRP due to the low supply and high demand situation right now.

RRP for the 3060ti is rumoured to be 400 USD. Worth saving for given that you’ll likely be getting 2080 performance (700 USD at launch). Just need some patience but if you can’t wait then any bargain you can snag right now can be sold later to pay for the next..

      • 1660 super vs RTX 2060 performance: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1660S-Super…

If budget allows, pay more and get more. Do you care about features like Ray Tracing? What's the rest of your setup like? Do you need a card that can max out your FPS? A lot to consider here other than the price tag.

This MSI Gaming X version of the 1660 Supers is one of the better 1660S variants available for its overclocking potential plus it has RGB…

        • Only helps newer games with Ray Tracing right?

          • +1

@furyou: I don't really rely on userbenchmark.com, but in general, benchmarks are done without ray tracing so that only rasterisation performance is compared.

            • @Diji: I see. Then the RTX series are all better and has RT. Why are they releasing this GTX 16 series? It's all very confusing.
I have a GTX1060 now, don't /need/ an upgrade now, just managing OK.
but don't know where to look when the time comes.

              • @furyou: The 1660 Super released last year

              • @furyou: The GTX 1660 Super was pre-emptively released at the time to compete against the RX 5500.

                • @OSienna: OK I'm pretty much confused, but so basically, hold out for the RTX 2060/3060 to drop in price if I can? And seems like u can kinda buy well and keep a few generations unlike CPUs?

                  • @furyou: The recent releases from AMD and NVIDIA at this point in time is making upgrade decisions heaps more difficult with COVID throwing a massive spanner in the works by driving demand through the roof in a time of hobbled supply. Usually after a new gen release, the previous gen top tier cards make an excellent target for bargain hunters looking to upgrade - which was what I was expecting to happen but sadly didn't.

So here I am, left with the decision to make a small upgrade leap to buy me some time while I play the waiting game and hope that the situation improves.. or bite the bullet and pay the full upgrade tax to get where I wanted to be by now. But, if you're patient, the sensible third option is to just bide your time.

      • +2

How desperate are you to upgrade? :P Demand is bonkers right now so the prices really suck, even for RTX 20xx cards. If you're not aching to upgrade I would wait it out.

Real annoying gap between 1660 and 2060. Wish there were more choices

      • There's the 5600 XT.

        • With current prices the 2060 seems to be the same or cheaper

    • Thanks, grabbed one

    • Still no voucher? Are they sent in another email after sign up?
      Got it: made the purchase

For those after a small form factor card, the MSI Aero GTX 1660 Super is at $299 also at BPC Tech (https://www.bpctech.com.au/gtx1660-super-aero-itx-oc-msi-gef…).

      • any performance difference?

        • The Ventus likely may run slight bit cooler due to two fans at the same speed, or it'll be able to boots clocks slightly bit more. But I'd expect them to be within 5% in performance.

  • I bought a Gigabyte 1660 Super OC back in late August for $370. That was a great deal at the time. RIP me.

  • Thanks - bought one, mainly due to the low noise profile of the card compared to other 1660S cards.
They also don't have a credit card surcharge, which is a bonus (Visa and Mastercard - eg CentreCom are selling this for what seems to be the next cheapest price of $319 with free shipping, but a 2% surcharge.

  • +1

Prices are back to $329 and $339 respectively now. This was a good buy given the current state of the market.. thanks OP for sharing

    • I didn't buy myself - was hoping to see if any other sellers would beat this price. There's still hope

    • That's surprising. I definitely saw it on their home page under the deals of the week section with 2 days left on the countdown. Was hoping to wait to see if anything better popped up on cyber monday.
