      • If we buy coles giftcard, it has $5 fees, so essentially we end up saving just $5 ?

        • +1

essentially we end up saving just $5 ?

Correct. If you are buying it just to save the $5, that’s not exactly something to get too excited over.

If you pay for this gift card with a discounted Coles gift card (which you can do, but is against the T&Cs for Coles gift cards), you’ll effectively pay only $101 or $102 for a $100 gift card, so that’s a bit more of a saving.

However, purchasing this card makes more sense for people with American Express cards or Diners Club cards and want to earn points at places that don’t take American Express or Diners Club (or charge much lower fees for MasterCard).

          • @WookieMonster: My e-gift card was denied for the first time yesterday.

            • @tunzafun001: They have been denied for several years at one Coles store I go to but accepted at 2 others. Maybe that store has changed management or they are tightening up on that rule.

            • @tunzafun001: Was it denied by a human or denied by the computer?

              • @capslock: The register locked out the transaction, then the attendant came over and said that you cant use egift cards anymore to buy other gift cards. I'll try another Coles and I heard on here that this was the case, but always used to work at my local Coles.

              • @capslock: In my case - humans.

          • +2

            @WookieMonster: Ok, reporting back..

Went through an attended register today and it worked!

Bought a $20 bunnings gift card with a Coles Egift Card.

      • What about an eBay gift card and an Ultimate Eats gift card? I take that it would be different types of cards?

  • Can I buy $50 eBay card and $100 Coles MasterCard in one transaction to qualify for 2000 x2 points? Or does it have to be separate transactions? If anyone tried in the past.

    • +2

Yes. However, you could buy $100 Coles Mastercard first, and use Mastercard card to buy $50 eBay gift card.

    • Did you receive your 4000 FF points?

  • $100 Coles MasterCard, can you use this anywhere and it is treated as just a EFTPOS or credit card ? thanks

    • +1

Credit card, meaning you can use it online unlike EFTPOS cards

      • -2

thank you that is even better.

        So technically

        AGL rewards $96 = $100 Coles Giftcard
        $100 Coles Giftcard + $5 Handling Fee = $100 Coles Mastercard
        Total spent $96+$5 = $101
Return $100 Coles Mastercard + $10 flybuy credit

        is that correct?

Next question, can you set up 10 new flybuy account with the temporary cards they give you at coles?

        • +1

Better to have a coles gift card that has at least $105 in value.

          • +1

@CVonC: You can't use Coles gift card to buy any gift card in store - be it eBay or Coles gift Mastercard. Only rarely you will get through without staff noticing it (I am not even sure if system still allows it).

            • @virhlpool: It did the last time I did it and it seems like it still does according to some people in this thread.

        • The system will not allow you to purchase a gift card with a Coles gift card.

          • @techlead: I bought 3x $50 ebay through self check out no problem just have the assistant scan their barcode.

Bought 1x$50 ebay at the counter with a giftcard also no issues.

All of these transactions done at North Parramatta comes Sydney thanks

          • @techlead: It let me yesterday as I explained upthread.

            • @SydneySwan: Wow nice, which Coles? When I tried, the check out system didn't let me!

              • @techlead: Lane Cove in Sydney. This is a new store that opened in July this year.

  • staff may stop you buying a gift card with a gift card best go through self serve when they come to approve transaction if they ask how you are paying say with phone tap and pay then when they walk away choose e gift card that has at least $105 left on it. offer is for 1 flybuy account per household usaully permitted so best use different addresses. does any one know if the coles ebay card has a fee?

    • Use different address ermmm.

I had someone tell me that you need the physical flybuy card to be swiped in order to use the credit. If I use a different address I won't get the physical card. That maybe a problem

      • -2

I have 7 family accounts 6 are for the same address. I have had deliveries made to the same address and used bonuses for 1st online purchase - never any issues. The problem with having additional accounts is that since earlier this year they are requiring you to register your mobile number before you can view transactions and redeem flybuys.

    • +3

does any one know if the coles ebay card has a fee?

eBay gift card never has fee in Coles or Woolies. Only gift Visa and gift Mastercard have $5 fee.

  • yes you will need physical flybuy card to be swiped in order to use the credit

    • then you cant really use a random address to accept the flybuy cards as per the 1 card per household policy haha.

      • My I know where is the 1 card per household policy? Couldn't find it from the promotion. Assuming that we can both get the 2000 points, I just joined flybuys seperately from my wife's account and just requested the physical card to the same address. For the 1 card per household policy you mentioned, did that mean I won't receive my physical card or I just couldn't get the points from this deal? Thank you.

        • honestly i dont know, im in the same boat as you. 3 people in my household all flybuy at the same address. since the points dont show up instantly you just have to wait a few days to know

          • @smeng: thank you, will try and see what will happen.

        • You should still be able to get the points as long as they’re under different accounts. We have 3 different flybuys accounts at the same address, there was a similar promo like this in the past and all accounts were able to get the bonus points.

          • @swanzilla: thank you for your information, points should hit account today or tomorrow for me to check thanks

        • Have used 6 successfully many times. Wish they would be like Woollies and let you buy 10 per account.

          • +1

@Yola: I guess the upside to this is that I don’t have to rush out the door on Wednesday morning trying to compete with all the other buyers just like with the Woolies one lol.

    • -2

No. You can take off 2000 points for $10 without physical card.
Scan your flybuy in next shop. If it has more than 2000 points, screen will prompt to apply discount

      • That's only if you have a Coles Financial Services product. Otherwise as Valuehunter pointed out, you need the physical card

        • So flybuys on Stocard and such won't work? It needs the magnetic strip?

          • @CVonC:

only if you have a Coles Financial Services product

flybuys on Stocard is literally just a barcode in an app …

        • Thanks for correcting, never knew that.
Hmmm, so it works for me because of my col s financial service :)

          • @hellodealhunter: Can you still use the Coles Financial Service 2000 points for $10 off for purchase of gift cards?
Used to be able to use points at Woolworths for purchase of gift cards, but they stopped that.

            • @digitale: I got this prompt when I went to pay at the self checkout today, so only paid $40 for the $50 ebay.

  • Bought $250 MasterCard and charged $257. That’s $7 fee not $5

    • +3

$5 fee is for $100 MasterCard.

    • +1

did your flybuy points show up? i have nothing on the coles receipt and is waiting for points to show up on flybuys cheers

      • Not shown. Hopefully it will track

        • im worried…….

          • +11

@smeng: It has always taken a day or two for the points to show up in your account. It has never been instant.

    • +1

so you pay $7 fee to get $10 bonus? hmmm………

      • When purchasing a $100 COLES GIFT MASTERCARD, a $5 purchase fee will apply in addition to the value of the gift card. When purchasing a $250 COLES GIFT MASTERCARD, a $7 purchase fee will apply in addition to the value of the gift card.

        • +1

Not sure why they have to impose the $5 and $7 purchase fee.

      • Obviously Maths isn't that person's strong point but then again it's $3 profit.

    • Caveat Emptor!

  • Do I have to swipe physical flybuys card to collect points? I know you need it when using credits.

    • +4

      you can scan the barcode.

  • 2000 flybuys points is worth $10 at Coles, not $10 in the real world because there are cheaper options

Still a good deal if you shop there and don't buy all your groceries from there. I do mostly aldi, butchers and fruit shops

  • Eh no stock of eBay or Coles Mastercard at my local

  • +1

Any one tried to use their flybuy $ for payment?

    • +2

I have. System does not allow.

  • Grabbed a $50 ebay, thank you

  • -1

I think this is a good thing on offering points rather than discount. As people buy the whole lot and I just cannot get those cards. Last time the JB hifi card was 15% off. There were none in stock

    • Lol haven't you seen some of the Woolies 10% off deals in the past :)

      • +1

I know there are people who took the cards few days before the sale, and then they pay for it when the sales start, on the shelf, there were no physical card left. I think having the limit 1 per account is a good idea.

  • +1

Does anyone know when would 2000 points be credited to the account after purchase?

    • Usually the evening after your qualifying purchase

      • Nice, I can use them tomorrow to buy something I did not need.:)

        • +4

Sorry, I meant the following evening i.e. if you bought it today, you won't get the points until tomorrow evening (Thursday)

  • +2

I bought an ebay $50 one just now and there was no fee for the card. I think its only the mastercard one.

  • +2

The terms and conditions at the bottom of the catalogue deal seem clear to me. The $5 fee applies to the $100 Mastercard only (and $7 fee for the $250 Mastercard).

I purchased the $50 eBay card without any additional fees charged. I think this one works out the best value as you get "roughly $10 equivalent" back in the form of flybuys points for $50 spend. You still only get the same ~$10 back if you spent $100 on the eBay card.

For those in Brisbane, the Upper Mt Gravatt store had about 60x$50 and 60x$100 eBay cards remaining as at 10.30am.

    • +1

why would you mention the $100 ebay cards

some poor ass is going to get it and not get any bonus points

      • Because the terms clearly say that bonus points apply to “$50 or above eBay” cards, it’s just not as great a value of return on the $100 as it worked out to be only $5 bonus per $50 spend. It’s still a bonus though for those that miss out on the $50 cards :-)

        • Not wrong

But no one going to get 100

  • Anyone knows if the ebay gift card can be used to purchase, say Woolies gift card, on ebay ?

    • Nope, eBay gift card TNC states clearly that it can't be used to purchase any third party gift cards

  • Thank OP. There were no $50 eBay Cards left at Carlingford, NSW. Had a few in North Rocks.

  • +2

Picked up 2 ebay cards for my 2 flybuys accounts.

Tried to pay for it using Flybuys dollars via self checkout however it would not let me, used credit card instead.

  • +6

Bought 100$ Coles Mastercard with Coles gift card, then used it to buy 2x$50 ebay gift cards. $3 off on the gift card (via Suncorp rewards), $5 off for Mastercard and $20 off for ebay gift cards (used my two accounts) + 200 flybuys points = total of 29% off (+97 Qantas points - I used Qantas cc on Suncorp website). I might now use these gift cards to get further 20% off Coles ebay :) - groceries almost half the price.

Lots of cards in stock in Coles supermarkets in Perth North.

    Thanks OP!

    • +1

      We're not worthy… we're not worthy…

  • used my hsbc to buy ebay, saved another $1 and she let me split payment to save nearly $2 on the m/card as well plus I get double flybuys points as I have contents ins, which was the cheapest I found

    • Double bonus points or base points?

      • base points, so 210 and 100

  • is it you only get 2000 points either for ebay or the master gift card?

or can you get 2000points for ebay and 2000points for master gift card?

    • +3

      Scroll up, already answered

      • thanks but yes would be better

  • Both out of stock at my closest Coles

  • Is the term for means you can only get one 2000pts awarded for one flybuys account only, even you bought two different gift cards e.g. buy the ultimate and ebay?

    • +1

      Read comments on first page.

  • Bought the gift card on Wednesday, bonus 2000 points just came through in my account this morning. Thanks OP!

  • +1

Combine with coles ebay for 20% for a limited time off..use your gift card to pay

  • Does anyone know if we can still get temporary flybuys card at Coles and bought Coles MC gift card and register the flubuys card later to get the bonus 2000 points?

    • If you get the temporary card at a Coles store I think you would need to register it, maybe you can do it on the phone, while in the store. Alternatively you can sign up for an account and it will then allow you to print a temporary card while waiting for one to be sent out. You could do this in about 3 minutes and that would work IMO.

      • Thank you for your information. I have registered online but couldn't find the temporary card to print. Do you know if it is under my account? Thank you. I am not familiar with their website. I know I can download the app and have access to digit card but rather not to have so many app on phone. Much prefer a physical card to use.

        • +1

          Entry page says welcome back….
scroll down to account details - right hand corner
          click account details
click replace card in middle panel
click Print temporary card on right.
This will open in a new window and show the print dialog.

          • @Yola: Hi Yola,
Thanks so much for detailed instructions. I did notice the replace card button, but didn't click it. I thought it would be for requesting for a new card to be sent to home address. Really appreciate your help. Cheers.
