Just concerned if tracking will work as I have still not received tracking confirmation for $60 cashback on Amaysim 12 months plan offer :(

    • +5

Thats why no body would spent this much if they rely on cashback unless you must buy it and cashback is bouns(which in this case is something)

      • How to revoke my neg?using the phone and click by mistake

    • +5

100% flakey. Been way too unreliable lately.

    • It won’t, shopback rejected my large claims for no reason when i did everything the same way as before. They are sneaky like that and never again.

  • +14

Just have to hope like hell nothing goes awry with the tracking between the purchase date and the payment date.! $121 would be a bitter pill to swallow!

  • +6

Assuming ShopBack actually gives us back 100%, I really don't understand how affiliating would allow either CyberGhost or ShopBack to make any gains from this deal.

Basically my question is, is there a catch?

    • +6

Well, like any subscription service they will hope that you will renew at the end of the subscription period at full price, albeit 3 years away.

Shopback would likely receive a tiny commission but they also work on the premise that some users will simply forget about their cash back payment and never cash out.

      • Ahk thanks a bunch! I get it now.

So they basically hold onto your $121.29 for 39 months and hope you forget about the cashback.
That makes perfect sense and is definitely a likely business strategy. Thank you!

Edit: Then I read the terms and conditions and it says Cashback will allow claims in 90 days. Hmm…

        • Wait really? Surely they won't pay back sooner then 3 years….

        • +3

No, they payout after 60 to 90 days, but like the gift card business model, cashback businesses rely on the fact that a percentage of customers will never withdraw.

          • +5

@ash2000: Agreed. And that % is likely to be fairly high since not everyone is as savvy shoppers or on top of things like OzBargainers are.

      • I'd say it's similar to unidays, where the site is basically a host for ads, but they give you a slight benefit for using it. They'd both benefit because if a store lets them give a large discount, more people will use cashback sites.

    • +1

they'll hope that people mess up and it doesn't track properly too.

    • Reminds me of the famous quote "if it's free, then you are the product" Cant really trust a lot of vpn providers out there nowadays

  • +20

I am making video of the entire purchase process. cannot take risk.

    • +1

I've never had any issues with shopback and tracking but given the amount involved here that's probably not a bad idea.

      • do we have to enter any promo code or just make sure . Go to shopback and make sure that the Cashback is activated ?

        • No promo code, just go to shopback and click Shop now.

        • +1

I usually just have a single tab in the browser open, go to the shop back page, click through to the relevant site and check out.

          • @ash2000: Trying it for the first time , would there be a limit to how many people can reedem this . Also how long does the claim take ? . Thanks

            • +1

@shrini101: No limit, if the deal is active at the time you click through, you're eligible. Up to 90 days for the money to become available.

    • +8

Used Geforce Experience to record the whole process. Will request a refund from CyberGhost and then shopback/paypal if doesn't track

  • Is there a limit to how many people can activate this , also will it go through for everyone or people doing it first time around ? . Cheers!

  • No better way to reward their existing paying customers than to give it away free to a bunch of power users for three years! Will be a nice little marketing list there for their next business venture when this inevitably implodes

    • +6

Do you have CyberGhost VPN? Can you please share your feedback? speed?

      • Speed is very average compared to other VPN's within Aus.

  • For a second I thought CyberPunk 100% cashback.

  • Never used a VPN before but it's a about time. Seems like the best deal i'm going to find - unless someone can pay me to use a VPN?

  • +4

I don't think I've ever come across a perfect VPN service, but this may be worth reading if you are considering this service:
    https://www.cnet.com/news/what-is-kape-technologies-what-you…

I'm currently with NordVPN, which also has its share of problems.

    • What problems have you had with nordvpn

I use it too. Only problem I had was having to reset once so just curious

      • +1

For the most part, my experience with them has been good. Good speeds, reliability, etc.

Functionally, I do find it's not amazing when it comes to changing regions for watching Netflix (including the other OzB post where you would use a VPN to subscribe for Netflix in another region).

With regards to security, they had an incident which they chose not to report to their customers until someone else had reported it on twitter (Source: https://www.cnet.com/news/after-the-breach-nord-is-asking-us…)

  • +1

How to get the link for 100% cashback? It's only showing me 83% cash back.

    • +2

83% is the offer from CyberGhost VPN to give you 3 Years+3 Months subscription for $121.29. When you go to Shopback , you will see CYBERGhost offer on the front page. Just click Shop now as you will see 100% Cashback written there.

      • Ohhh. My bad. Thank you for the clarification

  • yeah…100%…100% this VPN is pulling out of the market once they get your money and backing out of the deal with shopback that is! >:D

    • +2

Do you have a crystal ball to claim this will happen?

      • -1

        No risk from me mate

        • That dint answered my question…

      • +2

        crystal ball

        Amateurs…

  • Bought it. Hopefully get tracked correctly

    • +2

      Tracked for me - $120.90

      • I hope you don't lose sleep on the loss of $0.39 tonight :)

        • Haha.. Na mate ;)

      • How long it took that showed yours tracked?

      • Did it track instantly for you?

        • Wasn't long, ma be 30 mins max?

    • Bought but not tracked…made sure no ad blocker was running…hopefully my cashback will be tracked soon?

      • Bought using the mobile app but not tracked.. Hopefully mine gets tracked soon

        • Same boat, will check tomorrow morning…

        • Using shopback app or cyberghost app? Mine tracked via shopback app

          • @Mahip: Used the shopback app! Did you make a new account or used an already made account with no subscriptions?

    • Cashback was tracked within 1 hour. So all good. Not fuzzy about $120.90.

  • +8

Enough of the cashback nonsense just offer it free with maybe a credit card number needed for renewal. No strings attached.

    • True mate. They just want us to jump through hoops to what can be easy process.

  • +1

So it looks like the cashback is 100%, regardless of what is ordered.
Anyone else looking at the "Dedicated IP - AU$ 7/month"?

    • same question here.

      • +2

Yes, it's 100% regardless of order. My cashback tracked at $393.02 forty minutes after purchase.

        • Can confirm

        • Was wondering if this was included able to post a screenshot?

        • what did you buy? multiple 3yrs?

          • @[Deactivated]:

            Dedicated IP - AU$ 7/month

            • @itsfree: Ooo good buy. I was looking at that, kinda wish I had grabbed that now too to run a home server on.

  • Can I cancel auto subscription after the purchase or will it fail 100% cashback tracking?

    • Same ques!!!

    • +1

I cancelled the subscription just after the purchase and cashback is still tracked.

      • It will track it but you need to check at the 90 day point when they either confirm it (allowing you to withdraw the funds) or mark it as cancelled.

        • Oh right.. They should still not cancel the cashback cuz I only cancelled the auto subscription for the next payment which is nothing to do with the purchase I just made :S

  • +1

So to be safe, best to pay with PayPal in case these guys up and leave before cashback?

    • +1

I highly doubt Paypal would do anything - cashback is not guaranteed (nor a part of the purchase at all as far as they can see).

      • Correct, Cashback isn't part of the purchase from PayPal's perspective, but the money back guarantee is. If they don't honour it you'd be well within your rights to make a claim.

    • Or better of with a credit card & a charge back?

  • +1

    Cashback tracked for me. $120.90

    • How long did it take?

  • +1

Cashback tracked in just over an hour for me. Thanks OP, glad I delayed my renewal. :D

  • Bought using mobile app. Cashback not yet tracked

  • Thanks OP! My NordVPN deal was expiring soon so this is perfect :)

  • Some concerns before buy,1st,track may missing.2nd,tracking may not track today which means NO 100%cashback.3rd,the vpn compnay may fall so the cash back will be none.4th,if you cant get cash back paypal will NOT give refund because you cant get cashback

  • Also if its 100% cashback why dont add a dedicated IP for $7/month then you have 39 months free of dedicated Ip?

    • How

      • You will see dedicated IP at check out and if you buy 39 months of vpn you have to buy 39 months of dedicated IP if you choose to buy

    • +1

Shopback doesn't specify that though so might not be covered.

      • Well it does say '100% cashback', not limited to just the 3 year plan.

In saying that, if it has been tracked as the amount ($393), can shopback later only cash back lesser than that?

  • Tracked through the app

  • It doesn't seem to work in China if you are planning to ever go there.

And also it seems like P2P is not enabled in Australian servers. Read from a review

    • Ah I was hoping to use it for China. Seems like ExpressVPN is the only one that works consistently

  • +1

Excludes taxes, so minus any gst amount?

    • yeah this. So you're really paying 10% of the total price?

  • tracked, but minus $1 tax perhaps?

  • +1

    tracked in 1 hour

  • +1

Tracked my VPN purchase in about 1 hour.

  • +1

    Hi everyone

FYI Cyberghost seems to be owned by a company that has a history of producing malware according to a couple of reviews I've read:

    Review 1
    https://www.vpnmentor.com/vpn-comparison/cyberghost-vpn-vs-n…

    Review 2
    https://restoreprivacy.com/vpn/comparison/cyberghost-vs-nord…

I was gonna give it a go at 100% cashback but this has made me doubt their integrity.

Has anyone used them without issues?

    • +1

If people have no issue with them up to now, that doesn't mean they will not have issues with them in the future. If there's bad history, that's a no from me.

    • That second article is sus. It is recently dated and wrong about cyberghost not supporting the wireguard protocol. The link to an article they wrote on the parent companys scummyness goes to a page not found on their own website. Taken down for wrong/false info maybe?Theres a big ad right at the end of the article selling nordvpn which means they are getting money from them.

Does the parent company still develop adware? There was a time when many closed source programs were sponsored by adware to cover costs. Users hated it and software repsonded by selling your data instead. It is harder to block data siphoning too. I think what weve ended up with is much worse.

  • Damn, good cashback % for Uniqlo, but nothing on sale/clearance!

Have to wait until Boxing Day!

  • Switched off autorenew straight away and it took 90mins to track cashback

  • Legit curious, what do you guys use VPN for actually? (Finding excuses to get in on this)
