  • How's this vs the Q60T?

    • +5

Hisense is better in pretty much every way. In particular, it has full array local dimming and is way brighter (1000 nits vs about 500).

      • Can you install Android apps on HISENSE VIDAA OS?

        • +2

          NOOOO! Get a SHIELD…

        • +2

Nope. Vidaa is rubbish and will likely not be updated to support new streaming apps. If you care about Smart TV features consider getting a TCL/Sony or a Chromecast with Google TV (latter is effectively only $43.06 if you're a Netflix subscriber).

          • @gotz: Have the chromecast with google tv and love it.

        • +2

Can confirm - Hisense's VIDAA "app store" is complete trash. I have an N7 that I got a year ago and it didn't come with Prime Video, the store doesn't have it (or any other useful apps) either. Basically you're stuck with Youtube and Netflix unless you get a Chromecast like other people suggest :)

          • @krazynayba: It comes with Prime Video now, the Q8 even has dedicated buttons on the remote for it along with YouTube, YouTube Music, ABC iView, and Netflix. Just wish they'd do Disney+, still have to use the Xbox for that one. I don't have much content from iTunes and Apple TV sucks so don't miss it.

I have the 55 inch of this and I'm super impressed. It's down to 1210 with the code if you don't have space for the 65 inch which I think is the cheapest it's been. I paid 1299 a bit back, but thems the breaks.

    • Same, I think I paid about $1340 for it. Awesome TV.

  • can you use the code plus egift cards combined when ordering online?

    • +1

      Yes

  • Was waiting for this to get down to $1500..

Not sure if I should bite the bullet or wait for boxing day sales but judging from the average Black Friday deals, I'm hesitant it's going to get much cheaper.

    • I am in the same boat.

    • I don’t think it will get much cheaper with the big retailers on Boxing Day given it was a big let down on good TV deals for Black Friday. If you need a new TV then get it now or wait for a good Sony deal.

  • Is this a step up from the 65Q7 and worth the extra $400?

    • +1

It's 100Hz vs 200Hz motion when it boils down, and the Q8 has JBL branded front speakers (which aren't great, but better than the Q7).

      • +1

I believe the Q8 is also much brighter and has more local dimming zones. Q7 looks like good value for a darker room.

        • Yes, Q8 1000 nits and the Q7 doesn't have it listed anywhere I can see… Q8 also has an anti-glare screen. Can confirm works well.

  • Is this hdmi 2.1?

    • +2

      no

      • Thanks. I did try looking. A few results mixing their specs/articles

        • +1

its a great tv (one of the best under 2.5k) once coupled with the new Chromecast or shield tv

Pulled the trigger. Bought my first TV since 2009.
