Yeah previous best was actually $21.36/TB wasn't it when it was briefly $299?

      • Yeah I stand corrrected previous best deal was $299 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572428

thats what i paid a month ago. awesome price. $399…. not so great price

          • @davesyd: Certainly doesn't seem like a ozbargain worthy price. I'm waiting for the $299 again… almost jumped on the 12TB $279 price…

          • @davesyd: This is Australian stock, so can't really compare. For Australian stock price this gets an upvote from me.

        • Definitely a wait till boxing day sale. See if it returns to that price.

just wait for xmax sale should be $299 again.

cmon wd just make it 299, ozbargain will buy all your stock

  • Can you return one of these to amazon after it’s been opened if you have the box and wrap it back up etc?

  • Yeah, scored 5 units during the previous best price for my 5-bay TerraMaster NAS. Better to wait for when it drops to $299 again.

This advertised deal is for Australian version WDBBKG0140HBK-AESN by Amazon AU. The $299 deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/572428 was for UK version WDBWLG0140HBK-EESN by Amazon UK. Still I agree that it is better to wait…

  • Presuming it comes with AU plug, that adds to the deal. I waited 3.5 weeks on the UK deal for the AU plug

    • Hmm. Got my plug from WD Australia in 7 days.

  • Raid ect?

  • Unless youre in urgent need for a 14TB drive, as others have noted i would wait for it to drop another $100 again.

  • at this price seagate is better as it is a 7200rpm exps 14tb inside (Seagate's's above 12 tb seem all cmr

    • depends, i prefer the slower for my NAS build, runs much cooler, the 7.2k ex drives are pretty loud from what iv read from people (again in a nas system with multiples)

      • Yup. I had an Exos X16 (the 14TB and 16TB Seagate externals are mostly Exos models) and while it was very fast it was so noisy I sold it to a friend for a $100 loss.

Much prefer the 5400rpm drives, particularly those that are helium-filled. Got lucky with all 4x of the 14TB WD externals I bought - nice performance and quiet as hell.

  • I purchased two from the Amazon UK deal, somehow they disappeared in transit :-/ Have been disappointed at the lack of HDD black friday deals.

  • Yes i got my UK deal delivered on 6-November. Registered on WD and got the Australian plug adapter within a week. $299 was worth the wait.

  • i bought this drive from the last sale, from Amazon UK for $299. It is a 5400rpm drive fyi. Very easy to stucky. I'm in the same boat as the most of you waiting for it to go back down to $299.
