HP Spectre 13.3 inch x360 i7/16GB/512GB SSD with AMOLED 4K - $2396 @ Harvey Norman

80

Hi All,

Might not be suited to everyone's taste but I bought this laptop today after doing my research.
Surprisingly it's the cheapest version I could find of this OLED enabled laptop.

I was able to haggle a further $50 off but they did not seem to want to budge as it was massively discounted already.
It's such a beautiful ultraportable and the OLED 4K screen has to been seen to be believed.

If you use https://shop.redeemyourgiftcard.com.au/ with promo code shopper you can purchase Harvey Norman gift cards at 7.25% off to save more.

It appears to be an exclusive SKU for Harvey Norman by HP according to https://www.gadgetguy.com.au/product/hp-x360-spectre-13-2020…
The closest alternate model I could see is 13-aw0028tu which is still selling at $3k.

Hope this helps!

Really, companies need to give us the infinitely more sensible option of a QHD screen on something as small as 13"…

    • I wouldn't want to watch my GoPro videos downscaled, even on such a small screen.

  • I saw it for this price over a year ago. It still is last year's model, so I wouldn't pay this price. I'd wait for Tiger lake which is a huge improvement over Ice lake.

Hmmmm I paid a bit under 2.1k for the same laptop with 2TB SSD in May (i7, 16GB, 4k, 2TB) … plus cashback … Others could use that as a reference point and haggled more?

No point in waiting, as it's going to be a $4k+ laptop as I'll assume ppl are on OZB because they want a $4k laptop but don't want to pay $4k 😂

It's more than acceptable for surfing web and emails ✌🏽

    • Was yours AMOLED?

    • you have a choice of getting the new one, or getting a bigger discount on the old one. This price is not amazing for a 2019 model.

Sorry to burst your bubble.. I bought this laptop for $1899 for the exact same specs on the HP website a few weeks back using Unidays promotion

However it took me 3 weeks to get it if that helps

No bubble bursted. Haha! I actually purchased a laptop 3 years ago from Harvey Norman and got the salesrep to tack on their product care insurance policy for an extra $250 and let's just say 3 years later excessive dust and overheating got me the cost of what I paid as a credit towards a new laptop.

Not usually a fan of extended warranties but their product care package is pretty darn sweet if you can get it at a reasonable price if buying from Harvey Norman. Sent my old laptop away, 3 days later they offer me a full credit for what I paid for 3 years ago or a repair. (No brainer)

Here we go! Both of us learnt something new in bargain hunting.. enjoy your new tech !!

      • Probably not a bad idea to get an extended warranty with HP laptops, they overheat so much you could cook a chicken on them. I love the HP style but I’ve cooked two of them, now, so I went the Lenovo this time.

    • and you didn't share it here ?

  • Ah my bad, I need to catch up more on Intel's naming conventions.
For some reason I thought 10th Gen was 2020. I probably should have looked around more but my main requirement was ultra-portable with an OLED panel and thought it was decently priced.

@db2k - Mind if I asked where you got yours from? I haven't opened mine yet so might look around :)

      Same as mikesyd2011, from UniDays.

I'd suggest to refund and just tell them your friends told you the same laptop cost less 7 months ago and even 2 months ago …. see what they say, you might get a lower price?! 😂

I've seen HP 45% off at least 3 times this year so far!

Legend! Thanks mate. Wouldn't be shopping at Harvey Norman but had to use their $1500 credit note from my extended warranty claim.
Let's see what they say :)

        • Sign up to the HP store, if I didn't get the Spectre x360, I would have got the next gen Envy (don't skimp on specs lol) at almost half the cost of an x360…. The Envy has excellent value and equally as good/premium as the Spectre. I read a few reviews and was very impressed. Good luck!!!

Unless you have a specific use case that requires a windows laptop go for m1 Macs, for same price the performance is leaps better

    • +2

the screen is not 4k though.

There are couple of additional benefits vs the Mac.

      1. You are not restricted to Windows or macOS, you can also run other operating systems such as Linux.
      2. It can support two external displays vs one on the Air.
      3. The Air doesn't support eGPU via Thunderbolt whilst the HP can.
      4. You don't have to worry about being a Beta tester for a first generation product and will know that 3rd party applications will work in the Windows environment
      • +2

Yes but 99% of the users won't touch linuz
Two external displays is a deal breaker for me but that's not for many if not most
eGpus are meh, if you want dedicated gpu get a pc and the integrated GPU is pretty powerful especially power / watt
Most of the apps works good now and it will become better and even really good as time progresses same can't be said for windows laptop.

        • That's your opinion. The simple fact is that people have choice with this laptop. The Air might have a good CPU,due to being on a new TSMC 5nm node, but it has its limitations. If you are an existing Windows/Linux user do you really want to burdened with application compatibility issues and learning a new O/S.

        • +1

          Serious question.

Two external displays is a deal breaker for me

How is that? If a system supports dual displays. You don't have to use two displays. You can just use one external display. There's an option. There's a choice.

For those that want to use two displays and a system only supports one external display. Theres the deal breaker. They can't.

It does not affect you if a system supports dual display because you were never going to use two displays. but for those that need it. They're out of luck if the system don't support it.

@xoom: I work as a software developer where I use 3 screens including the MacBook's own display. So for me, I need 3 DP to maximize my productivity. I will wait for 16" m1x (or whatever they call ) but the new Macbook should be what all new laptops should be compared to.
