  • Is this monitor worth 4 times the price of the xiaomi 34?

    • +5

How do you put a price amount on what some else values? Do ever wonder why we have cars in such varying price ranges?

      • +3

Sounds to me your trying to justify a recent purchase :)

        • +5

Lol. Nah I have an old LG.

But the question is like asking if the Xiaomi is worth 5 times the price of this $99 monitor

          • @Ryanek: good question

          • @Ryanek: Same size and resolution? Nope….

          • @Ryanek: But if I put 4 of them together then I’ll have a 4K screen

    • +2

I believe it is and here's why:
      1. Xiaomi is a Chinese company with a history of patent infringing and failing to respect IP
      2. The Dell is a thing of beauty
      3. Prestige
      4. Better tech specs (ips, mainly)

But if you don't care about any of those things don't get me wrong the Xiaomi is a stonking bargain

        1. Xiaomi is a Chinese company with a history of patent infringing and failing to respect IP

Really? Like what. Googling shows some modem infringements but plenty of companies have gone to court for that too, including Samsung and Qualcomm.

    • Probably. ..the LG equivalent goes for close to $3000. I got this at the 1777 price so for me its a half price 38GL950G-B 😃

  • "Usually Ships within 2 months", thats no fun

    • This is the time we need to save money to buy this lol, expensive af

    • I ordered mine last Wednesday, says shipping this Tuesday 9 Dec. They probably just covering their butts. However they give estimated shipping date once u place the order…

  • +4

price has gone up https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/588100 that solves my dilemma…not buying until it drops

  • Price hasn’t gone up, the code was suppose to stop working some times back.

  • is ips that much more costly to manufacture than a va panel?

    • +1

Does a Ferrari cost more to manufacture than a Kia?

      • Yes it does :p

  • will this work with freesync if the 6800xt ever comes back into stock ?

    • yes. it’s compatible with adaptive sync which is the same as freesync

  • Does cashrewards work with this? Lol not sure how to check

    • No, cashrewards can't be used with coupons that aren't listed on their site.

    • +2

What I did was use shopback and pay full RRP. Then use price protection to get the difference from using coupons based off the original rrp. So basically got it for a further $225 off the $1777. $1552 after the cashback clears lol

      • How are you getting price protection? From Dell directly or via credit card?

        • 28 deg mastercard. Or the coles card offers it too ($600 max per item, same store).

          • @Kentrolla: Oh wow crafty master haha. 28 deg even allows you to take into account voucher/coupons?

            • @solo55: Yep sure does. Done it before lots of times. All you have to do is screenshot the checkout page with the coupon applied.

      • After a bit of Googling, I think I get the gist of this. If anyone's got the time to read further;

Provided Dell or any other merchants are on the shopback commission list, your purchase via that particular credit card or the Coles card, allows you to claim vouchers or lower prices missed out on from the same merchant, yes?

Please correct me if I have this wrong.
I've been meaning to investigate cards, not for the credit, but the potential chargeback rights unlike the debit card I currently use. Hopefully never need them, and card would be used infrequently.

If I intend to pay off the card immediately/before interest applies; are there other factors or more competitive cards anyone recommends?
I see there's no annual fee, and what I decipher to be 55 days interest free period, so long as I pay as intended and never advance cash.

        • Does the shopback claim work regularly, or did you sweat bullets wondering if it would work?

Does that platinum card have any particular minimum spends, or can I use it as infrequently as I wish?

        • The way price protection works is not "chargeback on the merchant". Dell still keep whatever you paid them originally, the CC (Latitude) in this instance, gives you the difference back.

I've been doing this for years. Always pay off the item immediately after purchase (or a few days before the 20th of the month). The 55 days doesn't apply here, as you are charged 1% on closing balances (20th every month for me). So as long as the balance is $0 by/before the 20th, I have free price protection.

No need to sweat bullets. Shopback claim will always work if it's on the full RRP. It's only a problem if you're stacking with vouchers. In this instance, it's even cheaper for me to pay RRP and claim a maximum $225 from shopback, vs only $177 if it's on the 'vouchered' $1777 price.

          • @Kentrolla: Thanks!
Appreciate your taking the time to explain.
Oh, yeah definitely not chargeback in this instance. Had been contemplating what happens if I need chargeback rights at some point. Currently purchasing with Visa debit card and/or PayPal.
Have managed to avoid credit cards so far.

              @6g15aa764: No worries.

CC's aren't a problem as long as you budget for everything. If you logged into my cc, it's actually negative balance (eg. they owe me $ lol).

  • Thank you I grabbed one. I talked on chat and they said delivery is in 2 weeks. But after my order the ETA is the 10th. Noice.

  • Just cancelled from eBay. What a joke about delivery.

I bet Xmas deal might be 25 to 30% off and we will riot here!

  • I've got one from the ebay deal and am looking to cancel it, if someone wants it with the free mouse feel free to pm me.

Managed to snag a used Acer X27 for $800 and that's leagues above

If anyone wants a code, Unidays currently has 20% off Alienware products which works on this and can combine with EPP2020 to get it to $1709.24, happy to share my code with someone if they PM me.

    • Thanks mate, got it for 1709 with Unidays code.

      • Hey mate. How do you get it for $1709? Mine one is only 20% off which is $1799.2.

        • Together with the code from this deal. Not sure if it is still active though.

          • @jooncheez: Thanks so much. I didn't know that uniday code could work with that code. I'll wait for the next time because Dell official website shows that it will be shipped within two months for now. And I find the 20% off code will expire in 31st Jan. Hopefully Dell will do the extra coupon again within one month.

            • @Wayne30: EPP2020 is still active.

So if U have a uniday code, U should be able to order it for $1709 right now.

              • @chew_chew: Fantastic. Thanks mate. I will try now.

              • +1

@chew_chew: Thanks so much. I have purchased that one and both codes even work with the extra extend warranty purchase. This one is nearly half price of the LG 38 GL950G-B which probably come with same panel (144Hz in DP and 85Hz in HDMI 2.0).

  • Ordered one on 18th Dec, ETA 1st Feb 2021??

    • My order has been delaying until the same date too. Purchased on the 7th of December. I am thinking about cancelling.

      • 2 months wait is a bit ridiculous hey…

    • I ordered mine on 27th Nov, and I get the same :(

    • Ordered on 18th Dec, initial ETA 1st Feb, but received an update today: item has been shipped yesterday and ETA delivery is today! :)

Can we all register for a free account on RTings.com and vote for them to review the AW3821DW please. Just in case it comes out to be a disappointment so we can cancel the order without hesitation before they deliver.
