    Bitwarden.
    Free and Open Source.

Alternatively KeePass is also free, open source and works well.

    • I'm still in a free 1yr sub to 1password but bitwarden is seriously great. Better than 1password in many respects

Free version of LastPass is good enough.

Yeah, I had a one year paid subscription, apart from apps and plugins telling me I'm on "free", I'm not sure what the difference was.

I have been with Lastpass for many years and my subscription is due in about 3 weeks time. Their pricing has got out of hand and I am currently in the process of moving to Bitwarden. I have exported my info from lastpath and imported into Bitwarden - this worked well except for a few accounts like Flybuys that export the number to CSV truncated and I had to fix manually.

Bitwarden has an app for android and plug-ins for the browsers. Taken the mirrors off my car because I'm not looking back.

Medusa be damned because I'm not looking back.

lastpass has all that stuff for free
i once had a subscription, and couldnt tell the difference when it expired. i still have it on multiple browsers, mac and windows, ios and android

I'm happy with lastpass free version. No reason for premium. The ONLY thing i really hate is their android app. For some reason when you authenticate via fingerprint it take forever to go on and give you your list of logins. Super annoying

    • Yeah. the Android app is just shockingly bad and is possibly the only downside of Lastpass that's enough to make users switch to Bitwarden

      • What don't you like about it? (I'm happy with it, so wondering).

        • When you go to a website.. say Ozbargain and you need to log in. It wants to authenticate you then the LastPass page comes up asking you to scan your finger for verification. All other apps will unlock instantly.. but with lastpass it takes about 3 or 4 seconds before it verifies and shows your login details.

    • There is also no Android Firefox plugin and I found the Android (non-browser) version only works sporadically.

      • Have you tried Settings > Autofill > Legacy.

  • Try to open an account on bitwarden but an error occurred and try later…

I don't get what the premium has over the free..

    Free one seems pretty good.

I tried 1password, dashlane premium, and lastpass free, and always come back to lastpass.

Their android integration is crap though, still haven't implemented the in-keyboard autofill like 1password.

  • I cannot trust lastpass. They are owned by logmein.com

As I run a number of domains, I often create unique logins for website (e.g. [email protected]).

I once used logmein.com to help my mother with a problem … and since then, I have gotten all manner of spam and really inappropriate emails delivered via [email protected]

So those scumbags have sold or been hacked, which has released my details to Spammers.

And this is the company people are entrusting to all their passwords?

  • I must be on a grandfathered annual plan which for premium is $1/mon. The current pricing would definitely trigger a move to a competitive provider.

  • I don't trust my password with any company. What if this is Russian or Indian company who is the creator would you still it?

  • It's really sad that Lastpass decided to get greedy & milk their loyal users for every drop they could get.

I signed-up to them many years ago, just after a very nasty hack to my Apple ID, which was caused by me reusing passwords between websites.

There were very few alternatives at that time, and I was so happy with the service that I signed-up to the USD 1 per month premium account, just to show my appreciation and support their business.

Fast forward a few years, and they jacked-up the premium membership to USD 3 per month, when other better, lower-cost & open-source alternatives were now available. I got so disgusted, that I cancelled.

The 40% discount reduces the cost close to the original USD 1 per month, but the greedy price-jacking has left a permanent very bitter taste.

  • Same problem as last deal. Says AU$2.7/month on the deal page and shows as $3/month when you check out. Then GST on top of that.

  • IMO , nothing beats a Complex min 10 or 12 character password protected + encrypted excel sheet (it has to be office 2016 and above while it uses AES256 for encryption).

For a brute force to work on such file you may need 25Years to half a century….lol…. synch your local file with an online drive like google or dropbox and you'd neve lose it. (if you trust cloud providers)

I don't need website autofill…etc … so perfectly works for me and data stays with me.
