Hi, first post here!

What you people think of $435 used for a R7 3700x, should I buy it?

Nah, around $400 max is what I would pay.

    • Yeah that's what I had in mind. I think I'm going to used in custom build and reselling.

      • You could offer less.

I did see a 3900x going for $500 on gumtree but opted for the 5600x.

        • You bought the 5600x new condish right? How much?

@BumbaOi: $480 from amazon with cashback but had to pay for a $29 bios update.

If you set up zippay you can buy amazon giftcards with 10% cashback and then buy it. It is on back order for now and the price is jacked to $580.

There was another deal where you can buy $500 worth of GCs for $450 but I couldn't find it to check if it's still active.
            There are referrals also.

            edit: found it https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/585348. Expired.

        • You got a 5600x over a 3900x at $500 vs $480 ? The 5600x is about 5-10% faster.

but the big difference is the cores and threads.

          • @garetz: Is it faster for gaming? I thought the 5600x was better for games and the 3900x for workload.

Came down to new vs used, SMART and tax implications as well. There was a slim chance that I didn't need to pay for the bios update. Had a friend with the same mobo and the 5600x worked out of the box.

Not sure why my comment was unpubished as it didn't contain any referrals or affiliate links.

Anyways, I previously just linked to Amazon AU which has them for $495 brand new. That's not even on sale and it's on Amazon not a PC place, so you can grab them even cheaper brand new elsewhere. I bought a Ryzen 9 3900x on sale for $620 a little over a year ago so $435 for a second hand R7 isn't great.

    • Hey thanks, that' interesting. I'm so far away from current prices right now😁
Do you see price drops in the next two weeks for a R5 3600 or R7 3700/3800?

      • Nobody can say for sure, but the thing with PC parts is that there are always price drops and sales all year round.
Check around the many online stores as different places have different specials at different times. Sites like Scorptec tend to have parts bundles and they are often cheaper this time of year, so you might just find what you want.

  • I bought a new 3700x from Amazon for $495 during the last Black Friday sale. I noted that sometimes it is available from Amazon US via prime for around $445, though it will take a month to arrive. Anyway, I couldn't wait that long, so I went with $495 - 10% zip pay credit - $25 cashrewards cashback. I guess this deal will not be repeated till next Black Friday.
