    I think the next drop will be more competitive, because some folks who tried to check out the first drop, may "parked" there until the next drop opens, and will usually get it faster (codes in and just need hit buy and hope for the best).

      100% sure I applied the code (I ticked the box) and yet it almost charged me $250.

Well that was weird. I got to the order confirmed page and my banking app notified me of the charge, then I got an email from ebay saying my payment was unsuccessful. I checked my banking app and the charge wasn't listed in my transactions?? Followed the link in the email to re-do the payment and it took me to a page where the product was sold out. Gutted!

For any noobs out there this is my almost fail safe 2 step method using PayPal.

Time to complete: 2 hours 1 minute.

Prep work: Be on the product page with the discount code "pre-copied".

Refresh the product page exactly on the hour until you see stock.

Click "Buy it Now".

Click "no" if an extended warranty is offered.

Paste the code into the coupon slot and click apply.

If you see the code is successfully applied, well done, the hard bit is over.

No need to rush now…..tick the PayPal option and click pay. A pop-up window will appear, confirm your PayPal credentials and click apply/pay. You'll return to the eBay page where an error message will greet you indicating there is no stock. No problem, do not close the window until the next drop.

Exactly on the hour start hitting the pay button until the payment is accepted.

    Laptop. I should mention, the instructions above are for desktop browser use.
    
    If using the two-step process (recommended), you wouldn't be able to keep a browser pane or app screen active for two hours.

  I've just realised that applying the code is not necessary within the "rush period".
  
  You simply need to hit "BUT IT NOW" and progress to the next page to complete the difficult bit.
  
  Once you get to that page, it does not matter if they are sold out to enter the code or your PayPal credentials and wait for the next drop.

    I stopped using PayPal for this, and just use the same procedure as above with a credit card that has 1 verified transaction on ebay (never changed back to PayPal on ebay).
    I've had my transaction being cancelled half a year ago, in a similar contest.
    (I was not the only one.)
