For almost $900 seems expensive for a phone with a single camera and 128gb storage

      Apple 🍎

On the flip side you get a better resale value, and also much longer lifespans compared to the average Android phone. I've seen people still using their iPhone 8s and X

I'm still using a 7. Lost count of how many batteries I've gone through.

        • And a battery is just what, 50? 30 mins, pop one in, off you go for another 2 years

      • Still on my 8 plus… but definitely getting slower and more and more apps requiring iOS 17+ to run :(

Can't imagine anyone needing more than 128gb on a phone unless it is literally their only device.

Other than the camera, you're getting a Phone comparable to the 15 and 16 at a lower RRP than both of them. Identical screen specs, similar form factor, A18 chip etc. You should expect a long term experience on par with a mainline iPhone other than a moderately worse camera setup for several hundred dollars less at most times. The iPhone 15 is currently $1250, and the lowest normal sale was a few months ago at about $1k, and its really debatable which one is the better phone. If you care about the AI features, it would be the 16e hands down based on the chip support for AI, plus it has more battery life.

Of course, we can talk about the relative value of the iPhone, but I honestly think at the recent prices we've seen for the 15 and 16e, buying a base model iPhone might be the best long term phone experience for around $900 on sale. The longevity, battery replacability etc. is very good and the ecosystem is compelling. Samsungs good phones aren't cheap enough and Pixel's support and build quality are always mixed phone to phone.

    • username… checks out…

    • its a good phone, last at least 7 years and 7 years latest os, only you need to do is to replace battery at year 4.

iPhone 16 ~$866 from JB, $767 if the first month is refunded.

Brighter screen, extra ultrawide camera, has magsafe and cheaper.

    • Isn't that arrangement affects your credit history?

      • What would show up is that you took out an $866 handset plan to be repaid over 24m and then paid it off immediately.

Whether that looks bad or not I'm not sure, but you basically are just paying the 24m repayments off on the spot.

        • Thanks

  • Buying an iPhone these days is like buying a washing machine. I need one, and I'd like it to do a few certain things, but otherwise it's just a boring white good that inspires zero passion or excitement. (IMO)

    • That's a horrible analogy honestly , you don't like their products I guess but that's how the other half lives 💯

      • Actually I'm all in on the Apple train (iPhone, watch, iPad, Macbook, Earpods etc) - maybe that's why I find it boring though. If the Nothing phones weren't so large … hmm

        • +2

I think how you find them "boring" has it's advantage, because that while it may not excite you positively, it also doesn't give you nasty surprises with glitches and things not working. Apple products just work! But imagine, if your fridge or washing machine stops working suddenly - absolute chaos

Maybe u should try a non boring android phone that has security issues, is fiddly and loses value fast. Don’t mistake problems for interest. Had exes like that…

  • wait for iphone 17e or hoping next iphone mini.

  • This vs Pixel 9a $849?

    • Although I don't like apple eco system, Google is an Ad company!

      • Thanks man. that wasn't the question though.

I can't avoid these companies as they make the good phones and operating systems.

  • Have one for sale for $800 if anyone's interested. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/916709
