Just activated the card. There is no mention of the $500 offer in the paperwork or anywhere I can find while logged into ANZ online banking, is this usual?

    • Same, no mention of $500. Only mentions the annual & rewards program fee is waived in the 1st year.
      I think it is normal.

  • Looks like this deal has expired. No 'apply' link and confirmed expiry by a chat rep.

    • oh man, I was gonna apply. The finder FB post said it'd be available until Jan 5th

The direct link appears to work still

        • Worked for me today. Seemed to load after removing the UTM crap in the URL

  • +1

Received it today but didn't mention the $500 gift card. Did anyone get confirmed by online chat or call?

  • verified a few things and got my application approved over the phone today. Asked when i'll get the $500 giftcard but got told to speak to card solutions instead.
my application was dated 3-4 days ago, so hoping i'm still eligible for the bonus giftcard.

    • How did you provide payslips? I got an email saying I’d have to provide them but not sure how, no link to upload and no one has called me since I applied yesterday

      • just responded to the email with pdf attacchments.

        • The email I received from [email protected] said:-

Please do not reply to this email as this email address is not monitored.

          https://www.anz.com/incomeverification says:-

          • @UrMumsOnlyFan: i didn't read it closely enough, responded to the email anyway. They didn't ask me for my payslips over the phone.

      • The email they sent me was stupidly unclear, though it wasn't too hard to figure out.

        • yep, I felt very stupid afterwards as well because I didn't click that link at first, thinking that wouldnt apply to me because I CAN supply the docs, especially at the bottom they say "we'll be in touch" so I was waiting for another email with the 'upload documents' button. Should've just clicked the stupid link and get it all sorted before the holidays, now have to wait till after the NY probably.

  • Can I redeem a Westfield gift card? Is there a list of gift card reward options we can choose?

  • Has anyone spent their $1500 required spend total already and received their $500 gift card yet?

    • +1

I am getting close to the spend requirement. I was on the phone to ANZ, they said the gift card will take 3 "statement cycles" after you complete the spend, so actually 3 months before you get the gift card.

      • +1

I see thanks mate for clarifying. Looks like I've got to wait til late March - early April.

  • +1

im sure there are a few ppl who registered for this card that have an item valued at more than $1.5k they wanted to get on it, like a TV or electrical appliance.
please let us know if the $500 giftcard has came through.

  • +1

    Probably a dumb question:
I can use this card for online shopping and it still count towards the $1500 spend right?
    Is BPay allowed too?

  • +3

I received the card today and as per everyone there was nothing said about the promotion in the terms and conditions. So I rang up the cards team and they have confirmed that we will get a $500 gift for $1500 spend within the first 3 months and no annual fees in the first year of the card.

    • thanks dude

did you get the card after your confirmation letter?

      • +1

I received the confirmation letter and the card same day

    • Did you do a balance transfer?

      • No I did not do a balance transfer.

  • Hi guys, my wife still hasnt got this card approved after applying weeks ago and sending required info. They have gone quite, going to call them when open again.
Can you confirm if you have to apply by a certain date not be approved by a certain date to get the bonus gift card and zero annual fee?
    Thanks

    • Hey mate I applied quite early since this deal was posted on ozbargain. I got my approval after 5 days.
I'd suspect ANZ cards is going through a large amount of credit card applications relating to this deal and they're backlog must be long. That's my only reasoning for your delay. Give them another week or so I'd say. If you still haven't heard anything give them a ring. Good luck.

    • I'd call them. I actually replied to their emailed request for documents and nothing happened for days, when i called they told me that is the wrong way. they had to be uploaded through a web portal.

but I reckon as long as you applied to the deal, you should be OK to get the benefit from it. that's just a guess though!

edit: I actually called them today at about 4:30 and got through with only 20mins wait. so they are at least answering the phone.

  • +1

My card already got suspended twice by buying gift cards, even though ANZ still sends the SMS codes and I enter them correctly.
First time it was blocked after $400 (2 transactions, 1 verification charge).
Second time 5x $200 was the limit.
It took 30 minutes on the phone to get though to the right department, being put on hold (and forgotten/ disconnected) ended up with somebody else who needed to verify me again and explain the issue again.
Still need to call them a second time to unblock my card again.

    • Gift cards are the standard method for scammers to make money, so they want to make sure that you aren't giving your money away due to a scam. The Indians are in full swing thanks to Covid19 - Jim Browning is testament to this. They things they say and do make me sick.

      • But I was just trying to pay my tax debt …

I do agree: these practices make me sick too.
If they call me and when I have time and feel like it, I'll waste their time just for entertainment. (Give a fake name, and if they ask my name again give another name. When they get upset I try to explain the other was a given name etc.)
I once even recorded the call, noted the phone number and reported to ATO but never got a response back. I think there's not much the ATO can do besides trying to inform the public.
I never trust somebody that calls me on my phone (even if they claim to be from ANZ/ATO etc.). I had a few genuine calls from banks where they asked me to verify myself, but I didn't recognize the number at first so declined. Banks should not do this, because people will think it's a normal practice and give out information in bogus calls too. Best is to call back or provide a unique reference number they sent via banking app message.

The text messages from ANZ can be clearer though. Like sending a text they blocked your card. Now I just got another verification code, but the transaction itself was declined in the backend.
Afterwards I tried to pay with my card in store, but that was also declined. This was a bit embarrassing/annoying, having a card declined after the lady had to scan 10 gift cards and enter the pin for each.

(In the end bought the other gift cards with my partner's account and credit card.)

        • That is indeed an embarrassing situation. Glad you had other options available at that time mate.

    • The Falcon at work.

  • Did anyone also receive an 'identification requirements' letter together with your letter of offer? If they couldn't identify me why would they approve my application and now asking me to go to a branch to identify myself??

seriously how inefficient is ANZ - why couldnt they just include the card with the letter, now have to wait for that to arrive separately

  • Applied on 16th December. Approved 8 days later. Additional paperwork meant my card was not active until today. Much more running around than any other cards I have applied before.

  • Applied 11th. They came back to me 4 times asking for more and more. Gave up an ignored the last request and was approved 2 days later. All 3 envelopes came in the mail today. No mention of $500 offer but should hopefully be okay.

By far the most annoying application I've done.

  • Got approval and received card a few weeks ago. I opted for a $100 balance transfer as the requirements were a bit unclear, however no balance transfer was done. Also no confirmation anywhere about the $500 bonus offer. I had bad experience with ANZ in the past not honouring their bonus offer.

    • I received a phone call a good week or more after receiving the card to confirm I wanted to go ahead with the BT. The guy was surprised by the amount (same as yours). He said creates a lot of extra back end work. Explained service agents stated had to do to receive gift card, he stated this was never a requirement in the past even when the card offered a BT. Still went ahead.

    • I also opted for $100 balance transfer, got the card 16th Dec last year, and the balance transfer has not been done.

      • +1

I also opted for $100 balance transfer. They called me once, but because I didn't have the BPay details for source card for transfer, they said i could do it later. However it turns out they actually cancelled the balance transfer.

I then called them later on, and they confirmed that I didn't need to do the balance transfer to activate the $500 GC reward anyway. They said that the 0% balance transfer was a "feature" and that I did not have to take up that feature to activate the GC reward.

I have just met the spend requirement on my last statement, and then today got the email with the details for $500 GC reward. So it worked out fine. I was expecting to have to wait months.

        • thanks for this confirmation.

        • Does the gift card have an expiry?

          • @bogstation: The Reward Code you get has a 3 month expiry.
With that code you choose a specific GC.
The Amazon GC I chose, said it had no expiration date.
            Other GCs might be different.

          • @bogstation: I got the woolies one. I read in the T&C's that it doesn't expire.

      • Just say you're not interested in the BT anymore if they would call you.
It's not a requirement to get the $500 GC. (They save work, and you save another $1).

  • Has anyone spent the required $1500 spend and received their $500 gift card (or confirmation)?
I just met my spent, didn't see any confirmation of it yet.
I did get an email to register for "ANZ Rewards" from [email protected].
There I can see the accrued points (>2250), but I only see the "Base Reward Points" (nothing that indicates the $500 gift card yet).

    • Same boat here.

    • Same boat here, will check in if/when GC is provided

    • Check your Junk mail I got the email yesterday after paying all my Zip 10% spends.

You have to spend all $500 on a single GC from the below retailers. Cant split

      ANZ Rewards Platinum card
Woo hoo! It's time to grab your eGift card

      Woolworths Supermarket
      Uber Eats
      JB HiFi
      Appliances Online
      Caltex Woolworths
      Amazon
      Myer
      The Iconic

      • You have to spend all $500 on a single GC from the below retailers. Cant split

That's crap! I don't want to spend $500 on any of these people in one go, ever!

        • +1

Pick of the bunch would be JB or Amazon.
or if you have your eyes on a pair of RMWilliams from Iconic…lol

          • @pegasusx: Agreed, I just picked amazon.
Also I didn't want to wait too long after accidentally posting my unique code on OB.

        • I think what this means is that you have to buy 1x $500 gift card, but once you have that card, you can spend it in smaller than $500 lots.

I think I will get 1x$500 woolies card, but assume I don't have to spend the entire amount in a single visit.

I can't see anywhere in the T&C's that says you have use up GC in one transaction.

          • +1

@samwww: That's correct. The "in one go" was probably referring to 1 GC of 1 type (not the spend of that GC at the retailer).
For example: From my $500 amazon GC, I applied 2x +- $2.5 on 2 different amazon orders. Remainder can be done on other orders.
You just cant split $100 at JB HiFi, $100 on amazon etc.

      • +1

        Thanks.
Can you also share the email this was sent from?

(The amazon gift card arrived instantly, sent from the same email)

      • used it to buy an engagement ring for my gf… and get a $500 GC for it, why not. hopefully she doesn't see this on ozbargain :p.

how long after you met the $1,500 spend did they get back to you?

checked my email, no such email from ANZ.

        • +1

My pending transactions settled +- on the 8 January, and I got the email on the 12th.(Do check your spam inbox, and maybe add [email protected] to your contacts, so it doesn't go to spam.)
But I read from other people (who met the required spend earlier) that they also got it on the 12th. So YMMV.

          See also this post.
So maybe they only process it once or twice a month?

        • Is "plentifoo" your legal name?

  • +3

Just got the GC emailed to me then, I applied December 16 and was approved that day, i met the minimum spend on December 24th

    • +2

I was probably lucky then, I only met the spend last week, but also just received the email with GC today.

  • +2

Also just got the GC emailed to me today. Any reason to keep this card? Doesn't look like the ANZ points it earns on a standard spend are really worth much…and no random bonuses like AMEX/Westpac.

    • I wanted to look what I can redeem with the regular points.
Then wanted to apply for the FF card .. just not sure if I should cancel this one first, or apply first for the FF one.
I see no reason why to keep this card (only want to get the max. out of the points).

  • Was also emailed the Gift Card today. Came from [email protected] . A bit quicker than I thought it would be.

  • Received my gift card today, redeemed easily. Now to pay it off and cancel!

    • Why not keep and use to just before renewal then redeem the points earned.

      • +2

Because there's normally a wait period (like 12months) before you can apply for a same rewards card again..

  • Received gift card email today too.
Also redeeming and cancelling to keep the churn going.
Where are people seeing the list of retailers?
Was hoping for BBQs Galore since normal rewards points can be redeemed here, maybe not the $500?

    • When you go to redeem your code, think it was woolworths, jb hifi, myer, uber eats, amazon, appliances online, woolworths fuel

      • Thanks. Guess my new bbq is on hold… Suppose getting Woolies for groceries is the same since that saves cash.
This and my $500 Kogan credit arrived today.
        Who's next 🤔

  • +1

Received mine today. Btw the Woolies gift card was a wish gift card, not only for woolworths.

    • Wow, thanks for the tip!
Hopefully it is still the same.

    • Just got mine. Not anymore. Oh well.
I can switch to Woolies for a bit I guess.

    • mine was woolies too, not wish. received it mid Jan.

  • Signed up on the day this deal with announced. Reached the spend limit but still haven't heard anything about GC, and have been stung with the annual fee and reward fee totalling $95… will get in contact with customer support and report back.

EDIT: customer support said the usual speal about waiting 3 months, credited annual fee etc, guess I just have to wait..

  • Signed up on 3rd Dec, met the spend on 4th Jan. Got statement today, no bonus points or email as others mentioned. Also got charged $95 fee.. Should I just wait or call them up?

    • customer service will just tell you to wait, no real point honestly, unless you're into holding 10 minutes because they're always so understaffed.. They also mentioned it's only a $50 refund.

      • Thanks, will just wait and see..

    • Shouldn't it be zero annual fee, irrespective of whether you made the spend or not?

Or am I not reading it correctly?

      • I thought it will be refunded when you met the spend.

      • Correct, it should be $0 annual fee. I replied here too.
Also see your offer letter under "annual account fee".
It clearly states the fees are not payable in the first year (for me at least).

        • Thank you!! That should help.

          • @whatif: Let us know how you go with it. I just got my first statement and didn't have the fee on it. Still to meet the spend.

  • Got approved and have my CC but cant remember how I applied. Clicked through this link. Was it linked to Finder? Prob got sucked in to a $99 fee with no GC

  • I met spending $1500 on Jan 04 and still haven't got GC.

    • That's strange. I met my spend later, and already got the email with GC.
Did you check your spam email too? look for [email protected] (add it to your contacts), see also here.

  • Just received my GC $500

Will be using the Woolworths gift card. Now to close the card

  • Still haven't received my GC get (checked spam) and met the spend limit on the 30/12 and paid off the CC on the 7/1. When I rang up I got the usual spiel about waiting upto 3 months for it to process. Anyone have an idea regarding how their system processes these? Others in the same boat?

    • +1

Yes, I know aksetkk is in a similar situation

  • yup same, my wife got her GC today. She didn't do a balance tansfer on her account so it's confirmation that it isn't required.. I did a BT on my application but I'm still about $50 away from completing my first $1500 purchase.

  • Received my $500 GC today (went into junk mail). I didn’t do BT. Completed my $1,500 spend on 17th January.

  • Can you get any rewards with the points? I accidentally spent a few hundred bucks more than the required 1500, which could’ve gone to my other Citibank for better points 😭

    • Not sure it makes sense to spend more on this card, just to be able to redeem rewards.
      I did a quick calculation : cheapest GC is 4445 points for $20, with 1.5 points/$: that's 0.675% "reward" (required spend ~$2965).
GC is usually not the best redemption, but I have my HSBC debit for tap/pay under $100 (gives me 2% back immediately).

I'm not sure I'll spend another $1500 on this card to get $20 GC. Probably better to save that spend for a new card ..

Happy to hear if there are any better rewards, or easier way to get more points.

      • How do you get the HSBC 2%?
        Is that still available?
