Whenever I see OLED TV and get excited, then disappointed because it's QLED, I remember this:

Look… me and the McDonald's people got this little misunderstanding. See, they're McDonald's… I'm McDowell's. They got the Golden Arches, mine is the Golden Arcs. They got the Big Mac, I got the Big Mick. We both got two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, but their buns have sesame seeds. My buns have no seeds.

    • +3

Wait, are you saying Macca's is what you aim for?? 😅

      What an epic movie!

      • I always enjoy watching Samuel L Jackson in that movie.

Can't wait for Coming 2 America!

    • then disappointed because it's QLED,

It makes me sad, because I'm reminded how gullible people must be, or they would not have advertise QLED.
yes LED backlight, same as every other TV (except OLED).

People really think this is not LCD - if they even know what that means.

      • +2

Or people think it's an improved LCD, which it is? I guess. I don't know.

        • +1

An improved backlight maybe ? Thats the justification for advertising all LCD TVs as LED for years now.

      • +2

It has a quantum dot filter though.

In 2-3 years, I'll make assistant manager. And that's when the big bucks roll in!

    • Yeah Samsung and their low misleading tactics to sneakily gain market share off customer confusion. Looks like its starting to infect other brands as well.

    • +1

      Haha love it!

  • +2

Nice QLED Android TV at low price.

  • +2

Good buy. Im impressed with mine so far (4 months old)

        i see

    • Available at one of my local stores in Perth but not others…no delivery either

  • Plenty in certain SA stores

  • +3

Got the 65. The corner have a yellow colouration on the bottom corner when displaying white image. That is the only issue I had and I can live with that. I advise you read the 65 inch model topic from last week. Good information there such as:

TV has Bluetooth - I was able to connect my wireless phone but the delay is huge for movies. Music is fine.

    Gaming Mode is nice.

You can select between full RGB or limited what is great.

Running Astro room from PS5 the colours are very good. Overall this tv is good for its price.

    • How's the brightness?

      • +2

Strong, I keep the backlight at 80. It goes up to 100. Otherwise it hurts my eye while Gaming

  • Delivery always no stock in Victoria, even for the 65"

    • Just call up the store that still have stocks and ask them to deliver

  • 58" in stock in Miranda, NSW, but 65" isn't.

  • +4

I returned my 65 - wasn't impressed with it. My panel had really bad dirty screen effect, stuck pixels and anything with motion didn't do well at all. Back to my Panasonic plasma for now!

    • +1

haha I have a Panasonic Plasma too, been waiting for a good deal to upgrade…see this isn't it.

      • +1

I saw on gumtree yesterday a 10yo pana plasma that was the version up from mine.
        Was almost tempted.
But mines still.going strong. Could get this TV so i could move the plasma to the bedroom. Its the kids watching TV in the loungeroom anyway these days.

        • Plenty of TVs in Gumtree cheaper than this piece of trash

          • +3

            @Willco88: Yeah. Spoilt for choices.
Will ponder deals like these till they expire and tell myself I didnt need it anyway. Then decide i made a good choice.

            • +1

@DarwinBoy: I got a 4K HDR Samsung from cash converters with 12 months warranty on it for like 50% off RRP in shops.

Sure its 12 months old but everything works and still had the plastic on the edge of the screen and it's working well now excellent picture :)

Previous owner even left their Netflix accounts on it for me 🤑

              • @Willco88: I bet I could find faults in your pixels, why else would it be at Cash Converters.

                • +1

@Mickice: Because people need money they get desparate

                • @Mickice: Bc it's a typical impulse purchase for people with no stable income or wealth.

                  • +1

@wisdomtooth: Yeah that's why I did my research and I was able to get a deal because of other people who make these impulse decisions so I'm happy!!!

            • +1

              @DarwinBoy: So true

        • Our Made in Japan 42" Panny V20 Plasma died last weekend.
No indication, just stopped working with flashing red light in pulses of 4. Quick investigation indicated that this was either a display board or screen failure.
No bulging capacitors or otherwise obvious point of failure and I was amazed at how dust-free it was inside!.
Pretty disappointed as this was a second to top of the line screen and really hasn't had all that much use.

I'm now worried about our main TV which is a V30 46" only a year younger with (gutfeel) similar usage.

Original plan was to upgrade the main TV, but Kinda tempted by this as a second screen.

    • Mind it. You will never get moving object quality as plasma in any LED or OLED.

  • -2

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

    • +16

you're telling me I'm not getting the same quality as a $2000-3000 tv? shocked.

      • +2

Amazing that some people don't understand this.

        • +3

Amazing that people believe prices perfectly reflect value… And they're still here!

    • GREAT. I WISH THAT WAS THE CASE WITH ALL TVS

  • +5

At this point it feels they just add a Q at the start to try and trick the buyer into thinking it's an O…

  • +1

I bought the 55", good buy

  • Hi All. Any reviews / or youtube vids on this TV? Keen to pull the trigger as a bedroom TV to watch netflix/youtube etc

My current 1080p bedroom TV is slow to load - so this should be a huge upgrade for me

    • +2

Pretty sure the 58"is a new model. Happy with my 65" and seen the same here and elsewhere. Loads fast I think.

No point paying more for just a bedroom tv.

  • +1

This or wait for a Hisense S8 55" deal?

  • +1

I bought the 65, very happy with the screen, the sound is disappointing but nothing a Bose bar couldnt fix.

    • +1

same, mine arrived yesterday and i'm a happy camper with the picture quality, I've already got a Yamaha receiver so sound wasn't a problem.

  • Anyone know if this one has the remote latency issues of the 55"?

    • My remote is fast, what do you mean?

  • the 65" can go as cheap as this price when it's on sale.

  • Anyway of loading/sideloading the Foxtel Go app on to the EKO?

  • Recently got the TCL 55" P715, but curious how something like this compares to the likes of Hisense S5/S8 and TCL P715.

    • -1

      Completely different

      • -1

As in EKO is far worse than Hisense and TCL?

        • Probably not, only difference would be edge lit vs back lit

  • Just went to Cumberland Park store in SA and was informed that they can't sell any of their stock because it arrived without remotes :(. Weren't allowed to sell it to me without the remote and sort it out later.

  • +1

Only with 1.07 billion colours, pfft.. hard pass. I need at least 1.08 billion colours.

    • +1

Pfft. I’m waiting for a gazillion colours!

  • Went to bigw few days ago they had multiple TVs.

    EKO JVC SONY

  • Just got one for my Dad for Christmas… but can anyone confirm if the 58" has Bluetooth and will it work with Bluetooth headphones? I can't find a manual for the 58" model but I assume it'll be OK as I hear other sizes have Bluetooth.

    • +3

UPDATE: I decided to carefully remove it from its box and give it a go just for peace of mind. One word… IMPRESSIVE This is identical to the 50" Hitachi I was literally about to purchase from The Good Guys yesterday on sale for $699 but of course this one's 8" larger and $100 cheaper… whoop!! All rear plastic moulding and in/out sockets are identical plus both units have Bluetooth and even a good ol' headphone output too! I just had it running with my Samsung Galaxy buds and it's even smart enough to automatically switch between the internal speakers and the Bluetooth device whenever its/they're available. Suitably impressed I'm now off to get a nice SoundBar and pair of BT Headphones to go with it :) Definitely a keeper and definitely a bargain!

      • Noticing the box is opened, your Dad could be mad…

        • +2

Ha, he absolutely wont know… after I'm finished with it :) I have a patient knack of opening & repackaging things so they still look & feel brand new.

    • Are you able to tell me the box measurements. I can only pick up

      • Yep, it's pretty big at 1440x870x150. Fits in the back of 2015 Corolla hatch with the seats down… laying flat with the screen up for safety. You could struggle with it by yourself but even though it's only about 15kg it's pretty awkward so I recommend two people.

        • Wow thanks for the quick reply. Will need to borrow my parents Hyundai Sante Fe

  • I own the 55" 10/10 TV provided you can live with the light halo effect of edge lit TV's.

  • +2

I just purchased this TV and I am impressed! I got a 10% disc as employee disc plus 5% gift card disc from Suncorp. In short, I roughly paid $515 for this! I highly recommend it for a budget 4K smart TV.

    • Yea would work as a 2nd TV or games room

    • Are you able to tell me the box measurements. I can only pick up

  • +1

I find these EKO TV threads hard to follow, where people are offering reviews of the different sized panels rather than the one advertised. And, if there's anything I know about these off-brand TVs is that each panel will be a radically different television.

Is anyone clever and clued in enough to actually know the difference in display quality/ Features between the:
    * Android TV sets
    * WebOS sets
    * "Smart TV" sets

i.e. max refresh rate, worthyness of the HDR, speed of the system, upgradability, etc.?

I guess the WebOS ones are straight LG rebrands, but the others Android TV ones?

    Cheers

    • While panels may not be from the same manufacturer across models of the same off-brand brand, the company buying the parts is the same. They may vary—and surely more than branded brands—but that variance is centred around an avg quality level, not all over the place.

      • I suppose I mean between sizes - so, things like input lag (gaming mode and such), which sizes are more prone to visual defects like discolouration or halo-ing, dynamic contrast ratio in relation to HDR, or other things I don't really know about very much.

  • Would this be any good for playing Xbox one X, and later a Xbox One series X?
Or how about as a lounge room main tv for free to air tv, foxtel, movies and sports?
We have a Mii box so android part does not matter.

  • Might get this one replacing the 65" which i returned as too big for the room.

  • Does big W really not deliver for in store purchases? I asked in store and was told they did not.

  • 1- Cashrewards doesn't sell Woolworths gift cards anymore.

2- Because of the $30 limit per transaction, ask to split into two payments, so you get close to $60 cashback without having to go through Gift cards. That's what I did today. Purchased the TV as the Seiki 55" from the previous Target deal has developped blue vertical lines.

Also note, to anyone who are restricted by the dimension of their TV stand/cabinet, the feets cannot be reverse mounted like it was possible on the Seiki because there is a notch. Will have to do some DIY.

  • Does this feature a HDMI 2.1 port by any chance?

  • How are the legs on this tv?
We have not set ours up yet and just wondering if the tv needs extra support or legs are good enough on own.

    • Can't say much other than they felt cold as metal in store.

    • They are good enough.

  • How do you guys find the TV Guide, and have you guys managed to make the program reminder work? It worked the first few days, but I may have changed a setting and it would not switch to the reminded channel on due time anymore.
