Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless (V1) $99.95 (Free Shipping) @ Sennheiser Outlet via eBay AU

1870

Was tempted at $150, but nah. But for $100, ok I'll bite! (Main reason for me is because it's one of / the only true wireless earphones that supports AptX-LL - the Momentum True Wireless V2 does not!)

This is the version 1 of the Momentum True Wireless. Supposedly has great sound (see here), but has a battery drain issue (which can be mitigated with this fix by inserting a magnetic USB-C plug - meaning the case will stay charged for about 4 days (so will still need frequent recharging, but not as bad). Edit: See comments below here and here about the battery issues being exaggerated. I will leave all this here, just so people are aware there is a battery drain issue, but the extent of it, I can't say.

Supports: SBC, AAC, AptX & AptX-LL (one of the few/only true wireless earphones to support AptX Low Latency!)

A joke at the original RRP of $499, but for $100, it's not a bad option to consider (particularly if you have an AptX Low Latency Transmitter, like the Genki for Nintendo Switch).

Very pleased with purchase. I haven't noticed battery issues with my pair. They sound great and I have noticed no audio-video lag. I have also connected to my PS4 via Bluetooth transmitter and it works great, no lag thanks to aptx-ll.
Only downside is switching connection from one device to another, the only way to do this is to manually disconnect from current device and manually re-connect to another paired device, or re-pair, which gets a bit annoying. My old Bose Soundsport Free had a button (and also via app) you can cycle through all paired devices and it will attempt it connect to selected device, I would have thought this to be standard feature.

Posting this comment as the deal is back and I have received / used mine for a couple of weeks. There are some connectivity and battery drain issues, but definitely not to the point where these are unusable. The battery drain can be mitigated by plugging in a USB-C tip into the case (You can get these by buying a $5 magnetic charging cable on Ebay). The connectivity issues I've faced are more inconvenient than deal breakers. It does not switch seamlessly between two devices (at least mine doesn't). The fastest way I've found is to touch both, go into pairing and re-connect with the new device. I have updated to the latest firmware via the Sennheiser app.

The redeeming quality of these TW buds is the sound quality. It blows the pants off most ANC headphones (including the Sony WH1000XM4s and Bose QC35s). I also feel these are more detailed than my Sennheiser Momentum Over Ear ANC Headphones (Gen1). If you don't care about the quirks, these are amazing for the sound quality at this price point, definitely worth the $99 asking price.

  • Just an update, definitely have the battery drain issue now, fixed with magnetic usb c connector.

    • Do you have a link for this connector. I am losing charge after 2 days without any use. I thought I take it our while on a walk only to find out that it is dead including the case charge.

      • There are a few that have been linked throughout the comments here. :)

        FWIW, I bought these ones:

(btw, these ones stick out a little bit on the MTW case - maybe 3-4mm. No idea how that compares to other ones though!)

That one was 73 cents with free shipping when I ordered. Already have the cable part just did't have a USB C connecor, only had micro usb

        • having the magnetic usb c connector really resolves the battery drain issue? have read mixed comments on youtube on how effective this solution is.

  • So this was a terrible experience overall for me.

Took over a month to arrive. I messaged sennheiser after 1 month to ask them to look into it as i still wanted the earphones. They said they would. The next day i got a text from auspost saying they were on their way, and an hour after that an email from ebay saying sennheiser refunded me (no idea why).

Got the earphones finally. Aaaaand the left earphone doesnt work at all.

Messaged sennheiser about their refund error and my faulty earphones, they said youve been refunded, case closed. We dont have any stock anyway.

    • Sounds like you got a free mono version.

Could resell the case and earbud as spare parts.

Haha that's one way to look at it!
