Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless (V1) $99.95 (Free Shipping) @ Sennheiser Outlet via eBay AU

1870

Was tempted at $150, but nah. But for $100, ok I'll bite! (Main reason for me is because it's one of / the only true wireless earphones that supports AptX-LL - the Momentum True Wireless V2 does not!)

This is the version 1 of the Momentum True Wireless. Supposedly has great sound (see here), but has a battery drain issue (which can be mitigated with this fix by inserting a magnetic USB-C plug - meaning the case will stay charged for about 4 days (so will still need frequent recharging, but not as bad). Edit: See comments below here and here about the battery issues being exaggerated. I will leave all this here, just so people are aware there is a battery drain issue, but the extent of it, I can't say.

Supports: SBC, AAC, AptX & AptX-LL (one of the few/only true wireless earphones to support AptX Low Latency!)

A joke at the original RRP of $499, but for $100, it's not a bad option to consider (particularly if you have an AptX Low Latency Transmitter, like the Genki for Nintendo Switch).

Im very tempted. Was planning to wait for the next sale on the V2s but these for $100? Ive bought shoes for more than that

    • +3

In my experience shoes usually cost more than $100 a pair.

      • +12

I think he might have meant one shoe.

      • +3

Haha yep good point! Note to self, dont post when about to sleep.
My original thinking was that I recently bought a pair of heels for double that price hardly even thinking about it and then there I was tossing up a great bargain on a product i’ve been thinking about for months.

    • +7

And shoes are a giant step from these.

      • +5

Especially when you run out of battery

      • +3

But with these you aren't tied to your phone.

    • +2

I looked everywhere on Sennheiser website. where do you buy Sennheiser shoes?

    • +2

      Says brand new.

    • +5

At this price, I'm not phased if it's refurbished - but FWIW, the listing says:

"Brand New: A brand-new, unused, unopened, undamaged item in its original packaging (where packaging is applicable). Packaging should be the same as what is available in a retail store, unless the item was packaged by the manufacturer in non-retail packaging, such as an unprinted box or plastic bag. See the seller's listing for full details."

(Didn't neg you, btw, as I can't confirm 100% either way - but I'm assuming the listing is correct)

      • -3

From the item description under warranty

        Sennheiser Products: 2 Years

Refurbished Products: Carry the standard warranty**

** Refurbished product warranties are only valid when purchased from an authorized Sennheiser reseller.

        • +8

Yeah I think that's just general information. It's listed as Brand New and it's Sennheiser's official store.

        • +1

That is just saying what the warranty is if it’s new or if it’s refurbished - it doesn’t specify whether this product is one or the other.

        • refurbished earphones are a no no - some ears are infected and then they just hand me down to you as refurbished yucks but these are rather large like 2 cockle shells hanging out your ears

    • Item description says brand new? Where does it say Refurb?

    • +1

Mine just arrived - can confirm they are brand new (factory sealed). :)

  • +5

Review not looking very favourable, in terms of connectivity stability.

    $99 is cheap

I wonder what they do with warranty and refunds within 2 years? Maybe replace in 12 months with V2?

I'm very tempted! Tho they seem to be played by different issues 😬

  • How do these compare to the AirPod Pro?

  • +5

Dang. I've already got the sony ones, but at $100…. might as well give these a shot! Thanks OP!

  • +4

I want to tell you not to buy these because of their discharging issues and lack of responsibility from sennheiser to fix them. But for $100 I would buy them if I didn't already have a pair. But (profanity) sennheiser

    • Why didn't they make new charging cases

  • +3

Yeah very tempting but crappy battery life and connection issues have killed it for me, apparently they've fixed those issues in the newer versions. Just need the Jabra 75t actives to pop up for $99 and I'll be ready to fight for em haha

  • +1

    Nooo… paid $150 :(
    Still in the box.

    • +26

So if you buy a second pair you average down to $125 😄

      • +12

        This is the way

        • +2

          This is the way

    • return it if not using !

      • +2

        Yes, going to return it.
Hope they will give 100% full refund and not charge any handling fees…

        • did you return through ebay or sennheiser directly?
i got no answer through ebay yet (requested it 2 days ago)

  • +2

used these for 1.5 years. bit bulky, connectivity issues, battery drain in case. Sound is pretty good! would like to try v2 coz it seem they fixed most issues?

    • +3

You sir are a proud alpha tester!

  • +1

    Thanks OP. Bought one pair.

  • +3

    Thanks OP. Poorer by $99

  • +1

I also became $99 + $$7.45 (magnetic cable) poorer, thanks mate

  • +2

This is my go to for magnetic cables. Possibly the cheapest.

Thanks OP, almost bought for the wife at $150, pulled the trigger at $100!

    • +1

Exactly the same boat as you were. Lucky didn't pull the trigger yesterday. Thanks OP.

      • Exactly the same boat as you

Mate, you've got some balls telling him what you're buying for his wife.

        • +1

LOL, i did try to make it as cryptic as possible. Cats out of the bag now

  • +2

has a battery drain issue (which can be mitigated with this fix by inserting a magnetic USB-C plug - meaning the case will stay charged for about 4 days (so will still need frequent recharging, but not as bad)

This isn't true. They last about a week in the case when not in use. When you insert a USB-C plug, they don't seem to drain at all—or if they do, it's very slowly.

I guarantee those complaints were written by someone who hasn't actually used them. The battery drain issues are exaggerated.

    • Ah cool! I've included that in the description just as a caveat based on the comments on previous deals - I will leave it in there for transparency, because I don't have any experience with them myself, but I'll add a note to this! :)

  • awesome deal at $99. do you think JB Hifi will price match it? it might be quicker picking it up from JB and easier to deal with warranty issues through them.

    • +2

JB is a nightmare to deal with for warranty claims in my experience. I'd much rather purchase it direct from Sennheiser.

      • Yes, have had good experience with them.

      • +3

I bought the v1s from JBs, went there a week or so ago after owning them for almost 12 months and putting up with the battery drain issue. They returned them and upgraded me to the v2s no questions asked, didn't cost me anything. can't get much better than that IMO.

        • +3

I once tried to return $500 blender from JB that had died just after the 12 month manufacturer warranty had ended (but was still covered by ACL obviously) and they flat out refused. Even calling their head office didn't resolve it. I had to go to the Office of Fair Trading to compel them to actually follow the law.

I avoid JB/TGG as much as I can now.

    • +1

I asked. They (JB) dont price match from ebay. Even if its official store on ebay. Dude in the store was real nice and also asked manager without asking for it.

  • How does it compare with $99 Airpods 2 😬

    • This has better sound quality, better fit and sound isolation and more features, all for a much lower price.
What the AirPods have that these don't is good battery life, and you won't need to buy any… ahem complimentary goods cough cough USB C magnetic cable.

    • Where you getting $99 AirPods from?

      • eBay Plus sales in the past. They often sell out in literal seconds.

        • Yeah that’s what I thought so really. What’s this like compared to $199 AirPods 😂

  • +1

Thanks OP good stocking filler at that price

    • +5

Wow 100 bucks for stocking fillers? What do you give at weddings

  • +1

    On for $100! thanks OP

  • No ANC on this version (v1)

  • +1

Thanks OP, ordered. Now let's see how bad they truly are.

  • I have cheap Muson brand ones from Amazon… Would this be a worthy upgrade? would they be smaller? Thanks…

    • +1

      Yes.

  • +1

How do these compare to Beats PowerBeats 3 - on sale @JB $149?? Any thoughts

  • Because of this post 84 pairs had been sale in one hour -.- (MAYBE)
jbhifi is 249 and this one have bad review not from jbhifi also in androidcentral. No one concern about that? -.-'

    • It doesn't have good ratings from RTINGS too

    • +3

It has it's flaws, which are well known. And at the RRP these flaws were definitely a dealbreaker! (Hence the bad reviews)

For $100 though, I think they are flaws that I can live with! :)

  • -2

I want to give it a go, but, the review on sound profile quality isn't that convincing https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/sennheiser/momentu…

    • +1

Rtings are great with their TV and screen reviews but when it comes to audio… Their ratings are almost laughable… I'll just leave it there…

      • Ah okay. Thanks for informing.

  • +8

These are the best sounding earphones I have ever heard. Ten times better than my AirPods. Sound quality is even better than my over-ear headphones (M50x and Bose QC35). This is a crazy deal.

    • +2

I agree, they sound amazing. Not sure why there are reviews disagreeing with that.

    • +1
Have version 2 and can't resist for this price.
With version 2, its sound quality is better than my Jabra 65 IEM and the Bose QC35 . hoping the version 1 wouldn't be far off.

      • I have version 1

      • +1

Some reviewers on Youtube say the version 2 is slightly worse sounding than the V1 (maybe because of the ANC feature and smaller size).

  • any other sub $200 BT earphone deals with good battery?

  • +2

Alright bought a pair for my Chromebook, hopefully the magnetic USB C solution is legit and works well.

As long as battery drain isn't too much of an issue with that solution then these are going to be perfect. thanks op

Also, you see like 3 people bought 30,50 and 70 of these

  • +2

    Bought 3. Thanks OP

  • +5

$99 bucks is a steal! Nothing comes close to these in terms of sound quality… Some of the comments made around the battery drain issue is a little exaggerated…

I had these in my bag for a week and I could still use it even though the case was still on amber…

When I asked a few ppl during my calls… I had no complaints… Apparently I sounded normal :)

    • Do you have the magnetic USB thingy in place?

  • How do these compare to Creative Outlier Air/Gold?

    • +1

I am one of the people who used both. It might appear strange, but outlier air v1 is better and outlier air v2 absolutely kicks these out with no competition

      • Yea nice. I have both the Outlier Air (v1) and the Outlier Golds. They seem to be great value for money.

  • Bought!

  • any info on these and exercising?

    • I'd only use mine for the gym, they have 2 years warranty. The worse case is, return them. That's a pretty good safeguard to me.

Could try buy a eBay gift card tomorrow with Zip(10% off) and get these even cheaper.

      • May not last until tomorrow.

There are around 180 left and these are selling at like 300/day.

So, what I'm gonna do is buy now and then tomorrow, get zip 10% off and buy it again and just cancel the other order

EDIT: They seem to be adding more slowly every hour, so may last until tomorrow.
