PS the graphic on the website seems to have the height wrong. It says height is 875mm (which I thought was going to be too tall for my bench) whereas I believe speaking to the TGG salesman it is actually some adjustment in the legs, and could be as low as 815mm if you read the written description (please confirm - don't take my word for it!).

PPS - I am not associated to The Good Guys - I don't know why it says that and it won't let me turn it off…

      • All resolved (thanks scrimshaw) - apparently I accidentally ticked associated but then once you do for a post, you can't untick it without a moderator - oops

  • +2

    I bought this woooo

  • +2

Oh I’m crying…2 days over my 21 day credit card price guarantee period. I bought for more from Appliances Online. Have been very happy with the dishwasher so far though so this is a great buy!

    • +1

I did the same. Mine arrived and I installed it only yesterday. Grrrrrr!

      • The worst knowing the $ difference

    • What's the price difference?

  • +9

Had a salesman strongly discourage Bosch in-store. "You'll be constantly fixing it." Etc.
Easily the most reliable dishwasher my family ever owned.

    • Me too, although the ones made in Germany seem better than Turkish made. Great price btw thanks OP.

      • Is this obvious based on series or model number or something?

        • +5

          I think:
Serie 2 are Turkish entry level
Serie 4 are Turkish upper models (this one)
Serie 6 are German improved versions of the Turkish Serie 4 (north of $1000) and
Serie 8 are the premium German ones for big spenders (north of $1500)

usually fairly easy to tell from the model numbers - i.e. the first number after the letters.

my intent was to buy Serie 6 but I couldn't pass up this saving and will spend the almost $400 saving I had budgeted for the German one on a nice Christmas for my family… ! :)

          • +2

@MrFrugalSpend: Yeah I've been waiting for a series 6 due to wanting a cutlery rack. Never had one but my parents do and I like it. But maybe this is the right call

            • @SgtBatten: You can get a Serie 4 with cutlery rack, we have the SMS46KI01A (purchased last year). It's been great so far and definitely recommend the rack.

            • +1

@SgtBatten: that's the one i wanted too - however I've also heard mixed reviews regarding some models with the cutlery drawer at the top (not necessarily bosch) not cleaning the cutlery too well and height issues for tall glasses with the loss of space for the drawer. Apparently some people say it is a choice between tall glasses on the top shelf or dinner plates on the bottom shelf with the height adjustment.

PS - there is a serie 4 with the cutlery drawer as well but it isn't on the same sale.

              • @MrFrugalSpend: Thanks for the info. Not huge wine drinkers and our glasses are stemless so I think the extra bottom rack area would be handy for pots and pans.

              • @MrFrugalSpend: I've got a series 6 with cutlery tray and it works a treat - no issues at all and I will find it hard to go back to basket.

Note the series 6 comes with the tray AND a basket so you have the option to use the basket if you want, though ours stays unused under the kitchen sink.

Tall glasses are an issue in the top shelf but it also comes with a tall wine glass rack that you can put in the bottom shelf. We have stemless wine glasses though so rarely use it.

            • +2

@SgtBatten: Once you go the rack, you never go back…

              • @knasty: Yeah i'm keen. waiting for them to drop from $12-1300 though

              • @knasty: Went from rack to basket, Miele to Bosch Series 6.

Rack: Handy if you use shitloads of standard cutlery. (we don't, we use odd lots of odd-shaped kids stuff)

                Basket:
                - We just dump everything in, seems to come out just as clean as when we carefully placed everything in the cutlery rack
                - You can pick up the basket and take it to the cutlery draw. Very handy if your dishwasher isn't close.
                - can accommodate oddly shaped cutlery
                - More room overall.

                • @ChickenTalon: Yep - horses for courses. Our cutlery drawer is right next to the cutlery rack in the Series 6. It may not be for everyone but for me the rack is just right…

            • @SgtBatten: I've got Series 6. That cutlery rack is GOLD!
It's also amazingly quiet. It purrs compared to my old Westinghouse.
Pay the extra money and get German quality, well worth it!

          • @MrFrugalSpend: Cheaper labour costs in Turkey then Germany. Turkey is like the manufacturing place for stuff like this throughput Europe. I purchased a Beko dishwasher and it’s been way better then the German made Bosch I had previously for a fraction of the price.
So I would say from experience that don’t think cause it’s made in Turkey it’s inferior

      • +2

I and people I have recommended to have the Turkish and no major issues yet. One had an issue in warranty and it was replaced. Some are going 7 years strong now

        • yes, I heard the same from a family member who'd had their entry level Turkish one for years so that helped me choose to take the saving on this deal over the 6… If both were at RRP I'd probably spend the extra $150-$200 or so on the 6, but not when this is so discounted.

      • I have a Turkish made '4' series. Its ok, but rather ordinary in its cleaning effectiveness. My inlaws have a German made one and its awesome.

      • I had a german made one I bought about 3 years ago. It was one with the buttons in the top of the door which is great if you have kids. The buttons after about a year went funny in that you would have to press some of them for 10 seconds to get any response. It also beeped loudly after finishing which was really annyoing if you put it on as you go to bed.

    • Great dishwasher. Been very happy with ours.

    • salesman must have been getting better kickbacks from the other models he was selling :?

  • Series 4 or series 6? Which one is better?

    • +2

The higher the series number the better - more features, etc.

  • Plastic inside?

    • Series 4 will be plastic and made in Turkey.

I'd spend more and get the German made 6 series.

  • -2

Product reviews dont look too good

    • +8

actually the reviews are okay I thought when I looked in more detail - see Bosch Serie 4 dishwashers.
The ones on TGG website say 4.5 stars from 18 reviews and the ones that dragged it down from 5 stars to 4 stars say this:

      5 stars - x13 reviews
4 stars - x4 "Nice features and easy to use, quiet, modern", 4 stars - "Pretty good so far", 4 stars - "Very quiet, does the job"
1 star - x1 "Bought this dishwasher to complete my renovation. I havent been able to do a single load of dishes in it as it has a faulty Aqua stop that leaks."
…for the last one, the aqua stop does come with the dishwasher but I'm sure it can be replaced under warranty easily and its something that if not installed competently may leak… so, not really about the dishwasher IMO.

Don't be fooled by the two isolated reviews on 'Product Review' for this model which are again, not really about the dishwasher:
      1. Someone reviewed it badly because the dishwasher was broken on moving into a new home where it was installed by a builder as part of a house package - there are so many factors in play there such as quality of the installation and damage in transport, and there are warranties for this. I'm fairly sure TGG would swap out a DOA under consumer law (whereas that would have been a commercial purchase via a builder, so harder to get replacement); and
      2. Another reviewed it badly who can't understand the documentation and says there are wrong pieces for the dishwasher - the plastic piece in their photo it was explained to me by the TGG salesperson today you put in if you want to take out the top drawer for tall items for the half load option.
Its a dishwasher, its not that hard to figure out even if the documentation is confusing! lol

I bought it cause I know several people with Bosch and all say they are great, even the basic ones.

Of course, Serie 6 and 8 are better… but at this price you can basically get 2 of these for the price of one of those and keep it for spares!! (and honestly I looked at them side by side in store and on face value they look very similar)

4.5 star from 292 reviews on google for the series:

  • How do I know whether my current model is a free standing or underbench?

    • +3

Doesn't really matter if it is going under a countertop. I have freestanding but I am going to install this which is underbench….The most obvious way is the piece of plastic across the top of the dishwasher on freestanding - this is a lid / roof which means it can be installed sitting out in the open. Whereas the underbench in this post must go under a countertop/bench as it doesn't have a lid / roof.

      To visualise it…

The one at this link is freestanding - note the plastic strip / lid across the top:
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bosch-stainless-steel-dishwas…

This one is underbench - which is great if you are actually putting under a bench but requires a little bit more mucking around to put in place, adjust the legs etc to get it to sit nice etc… but then they look much better / sleeker
      https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/bosch-stainless-steel-under-b…

      • Awesome. Appreciate your detailed explanation

  • Also, don't forget Cashback (not that I am certain if it is eligible, but it should be as there is no promo code so its worth a shot):
    Cashrewards 3% (Category A TGG) = $20.91 back = $676.09
    Shopback 3.5% = $24.39 back = $672.31

  • I use this model and it’s been great. Highly recommend!

    • awesome thanks - good to know to avoid buyers remorse!

  • +1

Got the same models for 2 years + (paid around $1K), even some parts are plastic, it's still going strong and cleaning dishes well. But that my first dishwasher, so can't compare to other brands or models.

  • +1

I recommend getting the model up that has a 3rd tray for cutlery rather than just a cutlery basket.

    • +1

Agree. My wife wanted the cutlery draw version, I was dubious we would use it, as I thought loading and unloading would be inconvenient. It came also with a cutlery basket, which we have never used.

The cutlery draw gives you more room in the bottom.

We have the next Turkish model up, purchased about 2 months ago. We have been extremely happy with it, after coming from a ~ 5yr Dishlex which was had terrible washing performance. The only thing the Bosch struggles with, is drying plastic containers.

My family has 5 Bosch dishwashers, and they have all been very happy with them. This is even after two of them have had warranty repairs done within about 5yrs (one was a German model). Mum has this exact model, the only difference I can see between ours and her's, is the cutlery draw.

      • Do you actually have a series 4 with cutlery rack or a series 6? I'm kind keen on a cutlery rack too

        • I have a Serie 4 with cutlery rack purchased last year. The model is SMS46KI01A and echo comment above. It gives you much more space below, wouldn't go back to a cutlery basket ever.

    • +1

Warning the cutlery rack really decreases the available height. It makes it useless for our dinner plates in the bottom and kids bowls in the top rack

    • yeah I wanted the drawer but I like saving money too much, and I've never had it so am no worse off then before my old dishwasher broke

  • -1

Guys spend a bit more and get a Miele! Unbeatable!!

    • I replaced my top-of-the-line Miele with a Serie 6 Bosch, and it's more reliable. Miele is great for high prices and then high repair costs.

      • My 11 year old German-made Miele has never missed a beat. Whisper quiet, dishes always come out sparkling. Id buy another one in a heartbeat. A mate put in a new kitchen came with a new Smeg, last i heard he was pulling that out and putting his 20 year old Miele back in. I know of a Miele that was still going strong after 35 years. But yes, I have also heard very good things from people that own German-made Bosch.

        • I've had Miele and Bosch. Both great but went the $1000 Series 6 (German made) Bosch last time and it does the job well.

I wanted an XL version for largest capacity underbench but baulked at >$500 more for a few extra centimetres in height.

      • -3

Miele is to Bosch as Lexus is to Toyota. They're the same company.

        • +3

Miele is private family owned. Bosch is a conglomerate - Siemens and Neff are Bosch brands but Miele is not.

      • +2

What sort of moron downvotes that comment? I had several Miele products and apart from the washing machine, they were not particularly reliable (ESPECIALLY given how much they cost), and were horrendously expensive to fix. Which is how I ended up with the Bosch dishwasher and oven (both S6) as they were cheaper than fixing the Miele devices.

        • +1

Exactly my experience. Love my Bosch series 8.

Had a a Miele G975. After the 5th time it broke in as many years and the one and only miele repair wanted half the price of the bosch to fix it, yet again.. it went on the scrap heap.

  • Great find

  • How long is this on sale for?

    • +1

It appears to be until tomorrow (Sunday)
"Advertised price ends 13 December 2020"

However my closest store online said it had run out of stock online, but when I called them they actually had one left in box plus one display model (they take it offline when there is one left), so I had to either collect from the next closest store or not get the cashreward cashback. I chose not to get the cashback because it was a much further drive to save the $20 so I bought direct. So, worth a phonecall to check if the nearest store doesn't show up as having it in stock.

I think I have a freestanding dishwasher under a cabinet. Can I replace it with an under bench dishwasher or should I replace it with a free standing one. What is the difference between the two?

    • Op gave a good detailed explanation above

    • If the dimensions are okay and it is surrounded left, right and top by cabinetry, then you can install an underbench - also see https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/9800958/redir

      • Thanks OP. Saw this a couple of days ago but decided to let it go as I thought it would not work for me as I had to replace a freestanding dishwasher with a free standing one. Looks like it is out of stock at most places.

Does the underbench model need to be screwed into the cabinetry, etc.?

  • +1

My experience with Bosch warranty and service is really positive. Had a complete lemon years ago ( one of their really cheapy models) and after multiple repairs and hundreds of dollars at Bosch’s expense they replaced it with a brand new one.

Has worked perfectly ever since, will definitely keep buying this brand.

  • Buy in store with 10% zip pay Saturday discount, off to Good Guys now!

    • -1

      Capped at$30

      • Ask the staff to put it through and split the transaction payments, i got $30 per each $300 transaction and just showed up in my zip app.

  • Only stock in VIC is regional now? 55 for delivery hmmm

    • +2

Call e&s for a price match and free metro VIC delivery. They also do installation for $99 and take the old one away.

  • I only buy freestanding!

    • why? do you not have a dishwasher spot in your cabinetry?

      • Nah, I live in an older place. The place I am in now does not even have the taps to accomodate a dishwasher. It's only got cold and hot water tap under the sink. Is there anything I can do?

        • +1

Probably better for freestanding otherwise you'd be making a box for this one from melamine or something which would be more hassle than its worth.

Re pipes - technically you need a plumber but really its not that complicated if you didn't use one…

          There's two things you need:

          1. if there is a spot that a flexi hose or something with a screw fitting is connected under the tap, you can unscrew it and add in a tee-off for a second tap to be added into the cold tap line, use thread seal on any connectors - then you can then use the additional tap to connect the dishwasher hose (turn the water off first!); and
          2. don't forget you need a special P-trap that also has a connector on the side for the pump-out drain to connect to using a hose clamp. Presuming your current one is a modern shape / pvc, there is probably a replacement one that fits in its place okay with the added tee off that you then screw/punch out the opening for the drain hole. E.g. 50mm with the drain port - https://www.bunnings.com.au/caroma-50mm-p-trap_p4783929 40mm

All the bits are readily available at Bunnings… but if its quite a bit older, not modern connectors, and anything other than simple job of screwing out out one and screwing in another to replace… use a licensed plumber.

And remember, if you DIY it and stuff it up, and it leaks and floods things - you may not be covered by insurance if it is obviously not up to standard

  • +2

Thanks again OP just bought in Moore Park and paid Zip pay x2 to get extra $60 off. effectively got it for $637.

    • A true ozbargainer would make it put through as 3 transaction so you can get extra 10 bux off!

      p.s. I am a jew

      • +1

I know, I’m ashamed of my failure. I was thinking of that as I paid but couldn’t bring myself to ask to do it in 3 transactions😂.

        • Lol no queue at my local TGG, but otherwise i'd think twice too especially the glaring stares if theres a long queue

  • What is the actual model number of the German one worth about $1000 everyone is recommending?

    Also, anyone have thoughts on:

    LG XD4B15PS

    Westinghouse WSF6606KXA

    Or any other reliable alternatives?

Dishwasher reviews seem to be mostly negative across the board except for a few models here and there

  • Thanks OP bought one from tgg marsden park, nsw..they still have one more in stock. Used $20 concierge voucher as well..and bought extra 5 years tgg gold warranty for $149..

  • Couldnt used zippay discount as marsden park tgg employee said they dont accept zippay in store..is ot true?

    • Setup Zip in Google Pay

    • From TGG point of view you are not using zip pay, you are using a visa card to pay-wave via apple pay or google pay. If anywhere accepts eftpos then you can use the zip pay visa

  • Anyone knows how much it cost to install the dishwasher (first time install, most likely need new power outlet, make few holes in the cabinet and new connection to water and sewage pipe) ?

  • I had an earlier series of this model, the pump failed in it. It was outside of the 2 year warranty and Bosch wanted nothing to do with it (They wanted to charge me minimum $220 + parts). Bosch wouldn't even give me advanced troubleshooting steps to try and fix it, although I did anyways and paid $60 for a new pump which didn't fix it (The error was specific to the pump). I complained on social media and one of their reps followed up with a list of local dishwasher repair agents in my area.
Waste of money for something that should be expected to last beyond the warranty expiry.

    • +3

You can always try the ACL route for something just out of warranty.

      • indeed - it is reasonably expected to last longer than that

  • I bought this model around 3 months ago and I’m really happy with it so far.

When running it’s very quiet, and does a great job cleaning/drying.

  • +1

Doesn't have the cutlery drawer up top. I'd pay an extra $300 for that convenience. Just me.

  • I just got a call from good guys this morning. Good guys does not has stock until mid Jan. so if you are not need it urgently, it's ok.

    • i collected mine yesterday - probably varies store to store

      • yes, it is. it depends on where you live and they will redirect you to the nearest shop for the delivery.

  • Its up to $1099 now - did way "Was $942" - was an even better saving - over $400! approx 36.5%
