  • can it be updated to work with zen 3 using the bios usb port

    • -2

Only B450 mobos need to be updated, B550 supports Zen 3 out of the box.

      • +1

This is inaccurate, quite a few B550 mobos were released months before Zen 3 came out, and don't come with the correct bios out of the box, and hence will require flashing the new bios to support Zen 3. All B550 mobos should have bios updates ready for Zen 3 though.

        • Thanks, my mistake.

  • Whilst it meets the criteria of a bargain it's insane how expensive some of these B550 boards are.

    • +1

ITX form factor products also have extra "itx tax"

      • -1

        I don't buy that.
Whilst it is something i see on occasion it's not often that way from mid range and lower chipsets.
Defo seems to be that case for B550 for some reason though.

        • well, the higher priced boards (like the one in OP) also have higher performing/quality hardware that demand a higher price tag.

  • "Excluding the APUs"

So none of the Ryzen 3000 "G" product are supported?

    • No they aren't supported, not officially at least, and I haven't found widespread reports of support.

  • I know that chipset fans, at least on X570 boards, are fairly quiet, but did they really need to put one on this B550 ITX board?

    • Was thinking the same.

    • it seems it's also serving the purpose as M.2 drive fan.

    • The fan on this board can be switched off entirely in BIOS. You won't need it for normal use, but you may want it for a pcie 4 m.2 ssd.
