Comes to $5.75 for 9 meals? Bargain!

  • Does this apply to the large meals?

    • I would like to know this as well if anyone's tried?

      • Yes. I answered this more fully down the bottom of the thread.

  • Any idea of it stacks with the 10 for $69 (BEST-DEAL)?

    • I don’t think so, it’s not listed as a promo by ShopBack.

I blocked youfoodz from appearing in my ozbargain feed last year. Easy to do, just go to a youfoodz deal (not this one as it's a shop back offer) and click "hide" (below the report button).

I only see it mentioned now when there is a 3rd part cashback offer.

In regards to the racism, i have three thoughts. First, it was the fiancé that posted the video and made the majority of the comments. It seems like theres an unidentified man in one of the videos who reportedly makes some comments. Was this even the founder? Second, the description does not say that she is making fun of the Asians due to them being asian. The description indicates that she s taking the piss out of their accent abdvappears to be annoyed at theur behaviour. If these were yanks, poms or frogs, taking the piss out of their accents would be fair game. I wonder if it is the racist belief that certain races either need special help or special protection that informs the one judging. I mean, many would think it fair to mock aussie drinking or kath and kim accents. Im not saying any if this is laudatory behaviour, but i like to reflect on surrounding concepts of what is deemed acceptable behaviour and compare that.
Finally, this was over a year ago. Is there ever going to be an expiry on bad behaviour. If we don't allow grace and forgiveness, there is absolutely no incentive to change and grow. Id rather see people learn and move onwards and upwards. For example, if a person does illicit drugs once, do we hold that against them forever? Or do we allow them to move on and be productive members of society? Do we have any proof of similar stupidity after this came out? If not and people still want to attack them, then the question is are the attackers just addicted to their own virtue signalling or would they prefer real change? Let people change.
I only read the description. I dont condone the stupid behaviour but think we need equal condemnation when it comes to insulting all races. If that's nit there, then the judgement is unwarranted, imo. But mostly, i just think that cancellations need an expiry date, in the absence of subsequent bad behaviour.
A bit of context. I am a white AF Australian female dating an Australian Asian guy.

I think what you're failing to mention is that the video was just one component of a much broader series of complaints which included a toxic work environment for it's principally non-anglo workforce.

Notwithstanding all this, I just found that I had a really visceral dislike of the owner of this company and subsequently ceased to buying their products.

    • Is "yanks, poms or frogs" racist? I really don't know.

      • -1

No, they don't refer to a specific race.

Thanks OP, this food is convenient if you're dieting and time poor. Seems like Youfoodz are doing well and getting bigger over the last year. It's good to see a local Aussie company doing well after the year we've had. Support local industry!

Racism is definitely bad and all, but the thing that leaves the bad taste in my mouth isn't the racism, it's the bad food.
Small portions and they taste cheaply made.

    • -1

Disagree, the food tastes fine. And dont worry it’s just a handful of woke whities who like to take offence on behalf of others (who often don’t care).

      • who often don’t care

Not sure if I'd generalise it like that, a lot of people experiencing racism (and other similar things) just lay down and take it because they don't think they'd be heard otherwise. And they often aren't heard because of the "woke whities".

As for youfoodz they are like the McCain "healthy choice" frozen meals of the ready made meal world. Overhyped, overpriced and small. There's no way a grown man is full with one of their regular sized meals for the night.

      • I also disagree on both counts. I have tried alternates from the supermarket and to me they definitely fall short of the Youfoodz.

As for size, I find the standard size are smaller than I would prepare myself, but fine neverheless. If you want more, just pay the extra dollar and get large size.

    • Not to mention the wage theft and they also diddle their suppliers.

Honestly, there are far better Aussie companies who make ready made meals…ones that also use far more Australian ingredients in their meals than Youfoodz.

Those are the Aussie companies that deserve our support…much more so than bland Youfoodz.

A couple of early questions were whether large meals are included in the deal. Yes they are. They each cost $1 more, so 9 large meals would cost $79. Paying only an extra dollar for the large meals is great value for the extra content.

    • 9 large meals would cost $79

Sounds great but a good price for these meals are almost $9 each by now??
Haven't had the large meal but for the flavours they taste supermarket store bought. Guess it comes down to expectations but a quick stop at the foodcourt on the way home has a lot more value (Chinese dish $5-$6) and tastes fresh.

Thanks I bought 9 meals for just over $50. Works out to be what the food is actually worth given that the portions are just tiny. I would never buy at full price from them.

  • Racist? Meals with rice have brown rice, not white rice! ;-)
