Is the 5g 256gb 8gb ram on sale?

    • +4

      yes, $779.35 ($729.35 w/ Voucher)

      • better off going the 256 for that price!

        • +1

Yes extra ram is worth every cent

          • +2

@bruceclipse: And the extra storage :)

It's a no brainer to upgrade for that extra ~$30

            • -2

              @Zackeroo: Any tablet deals?

              • @Spamazon: Are you legitimately asking me if there are any tablet deals?

                Idk, I don't use tablets.

Or are you suggesting that you should search for a tablet if you want extra storage? Tablets aren't as portable, extra storage on a phone is useful since you can store more photos and videos, especially in this day and age where 4K videos are quite popular, as well as 4K 60 and the emerging 8K on newer smartphones

                • @Zackeroo: Have a note 10+ but I like tablets better at home.

                  • @Spamazon: Fair enough, that's the same for me expect instead of tablets, it's laptops for me

                    • @Zackeroo: Actually I may look at a 2in1 or Chromebook now, thanks

    • Does anybody know if the 256Gb version is snapdragon or exynos chip? Thanks.

      • +3

5G is always Snapdragon, only the 4G version runs Exynos.

        • Is the snapdragon slowed down to be the same as exynos?

        • should really be in the title TBH, this question gets asked every single time.

  • Sorry whats the voucher code? I am seeing FE 5G for 899 in the education portal (849 with marketing email code). How do I get 696

    • On past deals, portal prices have been different based on education institutions

    • it should be $746.35 and use the above sign up link to get a $50 code to reduce the price furthur

      • looks like its targetted as I am seeing 899 price on the education portal.

        • are you sure you’re on the edu portal? s20 fe starts $899 on the normal Samsung website

      • how soon after sign up did you receive the $50 code?

        • no idea, I didn't buy this phone. I think its pretty quick

        • From experience, whenever I use my Hotmail account to sign up for something it takes hours to get and email. Whenever I use Gmail it's instant.

        • Been waiting a few hours and still haven't received $50 code

UPDATE: Found another OzB post advising to contact Samsung at [email protected] if you don't receive your $50 off email. Have contacted them and hopefully will receive it now. It seems lots of people are not receiving their codes. OzB post is here - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/561777

s20 FE has touch issue that is why Samsung wants to sell as many as FE what they have in the stock

      • +6

They have pushed out 3 fixes and still the touchscreen problem persists.

      • +1

        Also S21 next month

      • Not denying any touch issues, I don't have this phone or any samsung so I've got no idea… But they do 35% off all their handsets regularly so clearly that is not the reason for this standard discount.

  • I see 746 before voucher on the EPP portal.

  • Good price, just picked one of the the wife. Good Christmas present to replace the S8. Paid $696.85 128gb 5G

    • +30

You are replacing S8 with wife? Just remember, it will cost a lot in maintenance. $696.85 for the wife is a good deal though.

      • +2

You win the internet today !

      • +1

18 years and half of your wealth to be exact

        • Post on OZB… Def a bargain

    • I replaced my S8 with a S20FE 5G - it is a very good phone and great value. The battery lasts forever - that's something you couldn't say about the S8 - also - the fingerprint scanner is in the right place ;)

  • Same on AU government store just fyi

    EDIT:
Can somebody explain main difference between S10 and S20 FE? except 5g vs 4g obv

    • If we're talking purely on spec: GSM's spec comparison

      • Thx, wont upgrade then!

    • I just upgraded to S10e. Don't think much other than cameras and bigger battery. But then ur getting Plastic back instead of glass if that matter.

      • Yeah, seems not worth the upgrade atm maybe next year

      • +3

i prefer plastic backing. less things to break. especially when my kid might be playing with it and dropping it!

        • Agree, have a good case and would prefer if buying new, but not gonna upgrade from s10!

    • What is this government store you speak of?

  • Are they the same price on Samsung EPP?

  • -2

Max quantity of the 256gb version i could 'buy' was 17… suspect that's all they have left in stock. Get in quick guys!

    • +3

Relax neggers, it's not like they are sitting in my shopping cart preventing others from buying them.

  • any tips as to what to choose between this and the 4a 5g? prefer something that'll last another few years (upgrading from S7). Waterproofing would be nice, headphone jack handy but not essential (not a heavy headphone user), wireless charging (not even a thing for either phones right?), long term usability and support (software?).

Aside from the camera on the pixel as the pro and the FE's apparent updated touch issue ….how do I choose! which is the better buy? Govt worker here..clearly working hard and making life changing decisions.

    • +3

The S20 FE has water proofing and wireless charging whereas the 4a has a headphone jack. Specs wise the S20 is better with its flagship processor, better 120 Hz screen and storage speed etc. Build quality is about the same, software is probably one of the biggest difference here. 4a is on Android 11 while S20 FR is still on Android 10. Google focuses on a clean software experience and delivers 3 years of Android version updates to their phones on the day of the version release. Samsung does Android in their own way with more customisations and features that may or may not be useful to you. Software updates are a bit slower although they do also claim to provide 3 years of Android version updates to the S20 FE. Overall if you want better and faster software support in the future I would go with 4a, but for futureproof specs and more features go for S20 FE.

      • Thanks mate. All good points to consider and I'll have to divide it based on your finishing sentence. Time to think!

      • Can you please comment on the Note20 which is also 35% off at the EPP site.

  • +1

This model has a major touchscreen problem that still haven't been fixed by Samsung yet.

    • +3

I've had mine a month now, there are no touchscreen issues.

      • +1

Must be bad QA with some of their phones.

      • +1

try to play pubg fame and you will find the answer.

    • I have one and my daughter has one (from JB) and neither has touchscreen issues - maybe we got lucky - maybe it's not as widespread as you'd think ?

    • +4

all 4 units we have (purchased at different times and stores), all have touch screen issues still to this day

if you own a s20fe, do this test and you will have your answer

What kinda numb nut does these sort of gestures for their daily usage? 🤷🏻‍♂️

        • +2

People who play games will experience these touch screen issues.

Just trying to help the community be aware of the issues when buying products, maybe I shouldn't try anymore 🤷

          • @rehevoli: Nope all good, but are you saying that you experienced screen issues when you weren't gaming as well? I just don't see how swiping with one finger each on opposite ends of the phone in machine gun rapid fire succession is something anyone does in their normal usage that's all.

            • +1

@orly: It's not machine gun succession. Doing it fast like this is just a way to show how often it occurs.

When the phone first came out, this issue happened virtually every swipe. It was a hardware issue which samsung has tried to rectify in 4+ patches and they are getting there. But it's just a band aid solution. The screen is still shoddy.

Some people are not comfortable paying this amount of money knowing there is faulty hardware there being covered by software.

Others don't care but will see this issue while gaming and while doing specific gestures on occasion (zooming in camera, images, Facebook etc) and it will drive you nuts knowing why it's happening.

TLDR skip this phone unless you don't mind a major hardware fault which has now been software patched into a minor inconvenience.

              • @sp3ctr41: It does sound like there's a difference in the number of users that are experiencing these screen issues, and it is a valid observation if that's been happening to you. Speaking from my individual experience, none of the pinch to zoom, scrolling, typing etc have produced any screen glitches.

                • @orly: Anyone who have good sound of playing games can tell you that how there is touch issue.

  • just got one for myself and the wife (256 S20 FE), replacing our S8 and S8+'s
    Great price!

    • +2

i say please update your username to Deal-snipers ;p

  • Question - does it come with screen protector like the S20+??

    • +2

      mine did

      • did u bought yours from education store?

  • Great price but should I feel sorry to the people that paid hundreds more not so long ago?

  • +1

I got this phone from the Amazon Black Friday deal. There are no touch issues. If your phone has issues, there's something wrong with it specifically and you should either return/exchange it or go through the warranty process.

    • +1

do you play games on it?

    • does the touch issue relates to chip? only 5g version uses SD chip

    • +1

However unfortunate Samsung are giving some people the run around when it has been reported/returned

Thankfully JB were easy to deal with for me when I returned mine

  • what if I use someone else's education email to register and buy this phone? any consequence?

  • can someone please post screenshot of the new price? thanks

  • 35% off for Note20 models as well
    Note20 - $974.35 (Was $1,499.00)
    Note20 5G - $1,071.85 (Was $1,649.00)

    • Regular Note is trash, should go for Ultra at least

      • What's wrong with the regular Note20?

    • nice, now will wait for boxing day extra discount on Note Ultra. may be free buds live :)

  • Would OW price match this? If so, would they incorporate the $50 voucher?

  • Does the Samsung Education store have a good returns policy?
i.e. can you try it first?

    • 14 days if unopened(change of mind).

      • thanks - do you need to pay shipping to return?

        • +1

Nope, they will send u paid return label.

          • @hopper: thanks

    • +3

You cannot try it unfortunately, unlike apple or dell that they let you use the product and still accept change of mind return

    • +2

go into any phone store and try it? i just did at JB, they wanted $999 for the 128gb.

    • +4

Samsung in general is horrible in returns and refunds. Don't recommend you to try. I had a delivery for a TV with a totally damaged box. Refused to collect. Had a refund after 2 months full of complaints and calls! Was a nightmare. Cheers!

      • you pay double price for Apple's good service.
And pay a little less for OnePlus which has zero service.
And pay same price for google with a little bit of service

  • +1

Paid 919 on EP two days ago. Samsung says if I want that price I need to return and buy another. :(

  • 256GB OOS!

    • Damn, was waiting for voucher first. Still hasn’t arrived

      • You should go to live chat and they will generate a code for your immediately

        • Tried live chat. They told me to call their support who told me to email them!

  • Is this better than Chinese phones which are selling from 800+ like oppo find x2 neo

  • Does anyone have the full specs of S20 FE 5gb 256? i can't find any clear list for Aus market.

    • No issues for mine.
