  • Trying to get some outdoor lights for some shooting mainly people on film anyone have any experience with these?

    • +1

These are pretty solid. Haven't used the app function yet but we used a couple of the 660 versions on a shoot recently and they held up as well as the bi-coloured 660's. Solid colour rendering, battery powered is always a huge plus.

    • These in white mode are not very powerful and they do have a slightly low CRI rating of 92 and anything below 95 is a bit less than ideal if you want accurate colours.

For indoor use, like lighting your face for zoom work sessions, I think it would be perfect, but for outside use especially using film depending on the ISO you might need to use a stronger light (and probably a dedicated bi-colour or 5600k light) or even use a bounce if your taking shots during sunny conditions. Really depends what type of shots you're doing.

If your looking for artistic colour lighting (or perhaps a rim light) then these might work well too and at $87 it's a pretty affordable solution.

      • ^ makes a good point about lighting outdoors. Fine for augmentation of a night, but does very little on white/sunlight during the day.

We find the 660 variant worth it for the police car/ambulance effects of a night. That can be fun to play with.

  • Is this a deal ? I think it was much cheaper during Black Friday. I remember 75$.

    • Were they just the bi-coloured ones? These are RGB.

      • They were RGB. Bicolored ones were 151$ for 2 pack including stand. I have been watching them for price drop.

I am interested for both RGB and 2 pack bi color.

        • +1

Wow! $75 is great then. They're good lights.

    • Are you sure? Do you have a link/post or remember which retailer sold it?

      • It was on Amazon. Black Friday deals

  • When does the deal start??? Says coupon code is invalid

  • I have one of these on order and I also have two of the 660 RGB model of this light. I use the manual controls as the android app is pretty poor (connectivity issues).
Excellent lights though with a great light output and solid build. I'm pretty sure this model will be similar in build quality ….

    • I recently bought the 660 RGB and 960 RGB and measuring the centre beam strength about 4mt away, the 660 is brighter than the 960… I might create a youtube video comparing the two / reviewing as there are also a few quirks. Build quality is pretty good, solid metal rather than flimsy plastic so it feels like these will last hopefully a long time.

  • Hmmm seems when I just posted the link letting everyone know that the RGB 660 is on sale, it unpublished it… Be nice if it let you know you've posted a referral code and let you undo (I didn't realise that's what it was considered such a code)

Anyhows, for the next 1hr 20 minute the Neewer 660 RGB light is $121.11 flash sale
