Seems a good spec tablet but its geekbuying NO thanks .

  • Anyone know a good tablet that has these are 4 criteria?
    1. Long ass battery life
    2. Good (the) screen 16:9
    3. WiFi only
    4. Non trash tier cpu

    Edit: and cheap.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 10.4" Wi-Fi comes in at just $299, less 10% if you buy with Zippay on a Saturday.

CPU is Snapdragon 662, not great not terrible.

      In terms of GeekBench score it's 300 single core / 1400 Multi-core

the Aldocube iPlay 30 scores 289 single core / 1281 multi core.

downside of the Samsung tab is that it only has 2GB RAM (32GB storage) for the cheap australian variant. There is a higher end 64GB Tab with the same CPU but with an extra gig of RAM, which is useful if you're a multi-tasker. edit: this is incorrect, the JB HIFI link shows 3GB RAM.

      • The A7 is definitely good value. The good thing about the Samsung tablet it will probably get a couple of Android versions updates and security updates for a fair while. I don’t know about these Chinese tablets.

Good review here on its performance too

I'm not overly concerned about security updates for this kind of thing.
Honestly can't see me using it for anything outside of Netflix and YouTube

          • +1

@Salmando: If using for Netflix you want to avoid these Chinese branded tablets. They don't have the widevine DRM support. Get the A7.

            • @Fiximol: Noticed that with my mix 3.
              Great point, thanks

      • Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 WiFi 10.4 inch (Model SM-T500NZAAXSA) coming up as 3Gb RAM on Samsung website. The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 inch has 2Gb RAM.

        • ah woops, got it confused with the 2019 version which only has 2G RAM.

Honestly very tempting but I'm still tossing up with the Lenovo chromebook duet which comes with a keyboard and has updates

    • Go with the Lenovo chromebook, at least you are buying a reputation product, besides chromebook will be more versatile shall you change your usage of it.

      • I actually have one of these, it has L3 unfortunately but I knew that when I bought.

My issue is that it resets fairly often and when charging keeps the screen going on and on never fully charging.

        I dont recommend.

  • Alldocube iPlay40 is now available in China. Better specs for fraction more. Should be able to buy it online after the new year.

    • I found it on Tmall. I don't think it would be the global version though. Any idea when the global version iPlay 40 will be released?

  • I'm assuming this is the same as the iPlay 20 with Widevine L3? This is a deal breaker for me with these tablets because it means no HD streaming from Netflix or Amazon.

    • Correct. You won't get L1 in these kind of devices.

  • FM Radio!!!!

  • Interesting that they have opted for the Helio P-series….is this new?

The Teclast M40 and the newer iplay 40 will have Unisoc Tiger T618

    • Not so much new but rather it outperforms the Unisoc they had in the iPlay 20.

      • So the "Pro" versions are just more Ram and Storage?

        • I've outlined in the post how this is better than the iPlay 20.

          • @Clear: Well the iplay 20 also has a "pro" version, so was just making sure heh

            Btw, what does "laminated" mean?

Iplay 20 was slated to have some sort gorilla glass (doesnt mean it s scratch resistant though)

            • @[Deactivated]: Laminated means you won't see the gap in the display between the glass screen and touch screen digitiser. It's not uncommon to see that in cheaper tablets.

Yeah no mention of Gorilla Glass so that may be gone. The width is entirely reasonable too as it's a tablet. Phones have to pack and stack everything together.

              • @Clear: One of the pictures shops a Goodix Tech stylus. Is this an active stylus pen?

  • Btw how is this possible? 159.4mm (W)

    Most phones are 176+mm wide?

    • +1

      No they aren't.

    • take about 100mm off your estimate for average phone width

    • The width of my phone in landscape is about the same as the width of my 10" tablet in portrait.

  • I've had the iPlay20 Pro for a couple of months and I'm very pleased with it. No lag and an excellent bright screen. A steal for $240 in my opinion. I'm not a Netflix user so the Widevine SD limitation isn't an issue for me. YouTube displays content in 1080p. Downsides are the potato camera and the build quality - the frame creaks with minimal pressure applied.

    • I too am pleased with buying the iplay 20 pro. Yes the camera is a potato but what can expect for $240.

    • Do you think this is worth buying over Samsung Tab A series? I'm considering between this and Tab A but they have lower storage and RAM for the same price.

      • if netflix in sd is fine for you. Get the alldocube.

        • I use netflix on my TV, this will be mostly my reading + light gaming tablet.
One thing I'm mostly worried would probably be the lack of service centre and repair.

      • The Samsung Tab A's 3MB of RAM and 32GB ROM would be a performance concern for me going forward but it is probably a more sensible purchase for most people at the $299 pricepoint.

If you're feeling adventurous grab the Alldocube iPlay Pro, they really do punch above their weight and mine was delivered in 8 days from China using Geekbuying.

        https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-tab-a7-10-…

        • I was thinking about that, but I might be buying alldocube after all. I'm mostly contemplating on whether to buy 30 or wait for 40 to come out which might actually take a while with an inflated price in a few months.
EDIT: Ended up buying one, hope I don't regret this.

          • @Fluffy Pancake-chan: You won't regret it, they are great value for the money.

  • The Pro (6GB RAM) version review already out last week, much better than iPlay 20

AWESOME Cheap Android 10 Tablet! Alldocube iPlay 30 Review (iPlay 30 Pro Review)

    • I saw that last night. Not really surprised given the much better CPU.

      • Seems price changed to around $277

        • The tablet in this deal? Around $246 AU using Mastercard's exchange rate. PayPal's rate would be inflated.

          • @Clear: Thanks, it is US$189 when code apply, but shows as $277 if I choose display with AUD, big strange. I ended with place the order by pay US$189 directly from paypal account and it took a little over AU$250. Hope it can arrive soon. Just one thing feel not such convenient is there is no case/film for sale on the Geekbuying or sort of combine sale with the tablet, so I have to go Aliexpress to purchase them separately and cost around $10 for a soft case and glass film.

  • Order placed 4 days ago and still in processing, delivery time shows on the web page is 5-8 business days, which seems a joke. Not good experience for the first order with GeekBuying

    • It hasn't been shipped yet so the estimated shipping time of 5-8 business days doesn't apply yet. Processing is typically 2-7 business days.

      • Thanks for reply, that's more make sense now. But the process seems bit long, as normally my order through Banggood/Gearbest processed and sent in 24 hours.

        • Those are both significantly larger companies with bigger warehouses so they're able to dispatch more quickly.
