I got this same deal earlier in the year, I received single rank DIMMs, if that's relevant to you.

    • so you want to run 4x16gb single rank?

    • I am on ITX motherboards with just two DIMM slots. Is 2x single rank better for my case or 2x double rank? I’m using the 2x 8GB version of this product (same speed and all). I am on Ryzen 5800x if that matters.

      • +6

Dual rank is better, but I wouldn't split hairs over it.

        • My understanding is that a "rank" is accessible one at a time … so single rank is therefore better… source.
But like you say, doubt any of it is realistically noticable outside of synthetic tests.

          • +1

@Zeppelin: I think the newer Ryzen's fare better accessing 4 total ranks (so 2x dual or 4x single), but I could be wrong.

          • +2

@Zeppelin: Since Ryzen 3000, quad rank configurations (as in total ranks in both memory channels, e.g. 2x2 or 4x1) have shown up to a 10% FPS improvement like in this HardwareUnboxed comparison over dual rank configurations and I believe in a recent GamersNexus video this was true with Ryzen 5000 too.

GN can explain exactly why that is far better than I can, but from what I've seen the latency and stability advantages of single rank RAM sticks that allow them to be ran at higher frequencies and tighter timings relative to dual-rank sticks, achieving higher performance as a result can be brute forced with 2 more memory ranks. Many of the 2xDR results aren't 10% better than 2xSR results though, definitely wouldn't lose sleep over it.

            • @brosk1s: Good info, cheers man.

            • @brosk1s: So I guess on older Ryzens single ranks are still better for overlocking?

      • +3

Dual rank performs better in everything. Games like dual rank too.

  • How do you make Zip 10% work with online order? I thought it only works with in store tap and go?

    • +4

He bought Amazon gift cards in store to pay for these.

      • Right, make sense!

  • +1

this is some nice ram at 3600cl16, it will probably overclock well.

    • If its micron b die, which mackdiddy claims it to be, it might not overclock as well as micron e, but we dont know because its still relatively new.

      • I should have said in my post, mine were B-die. Code was M8FB1, as in 8 2GB chips per dimm, B-die. The other version is M16FE1, 16 1GB chips per dimm, E-die.

        • Uhh… e die is 8Gb, b die is 16Gb. But you still got single rank, so that’s all that matters.

  • White one is just a bit more expensive. :3

  • Apparently these are hit or miss with whether they are dual rank or not. I’d rather not gamble and wait for the 2x16gb ones

    • wait it is 2x16gb?

      • Sorry I mean the 2x8gb

  • i assume, that you can add as many amazon gift cards on a purchase? since you had two cards, you use two gifts card on one purchase?

    • they just add to your gift card balance 'wallet' so you can add as many as you want.

      • nice!! ill buy cards tonight

  • Since this is sold by Amazon UK, what happens when I have to RMA? Do I need to post it to UK at my own cost?

    • +1

They'll refund you the postage after it arrives i suppose

  • When does this preorder arrives?

  • +2

Just note these may be Micron B die, not E-die.

    • I wish there was an easy way to tell. Puts me off buying this.

    • I thought that's what everyone wanted?! So confused.

      • +1

        Micron E-Die, Samsung B-Die

        I know it's confusing!
I got the 2x8gb (don't need more) for 76 bucks and it's great!

Great advice not to split hairs, trying to optimize everything is a headache and makes 0 difference in what you actually see / experience

        • +1

Well, theres also micron B die and Samsung A die which are replacing micron E and samsung B.

To avoid confusion, its better to say rev B for micron and b die for samsung.

  • How do these compare to Samsung B-die with similar speed/timings?

  • This RAM kicks ass. I run it on my 5950 and have 64 gig of ram running no worries.

  • Good kit to just chuck in and not worry further, even with a Ryzen system. I only wish the heat spreaders were a little shorter

  • when do you tihnk this will be in stock at sent????
really wanna buy for my itx build

  • Anyone know if buying from non Australian amazon gets you a tax invoice?

    • +1

You get tax invoices from amazon direct selling, US UK or AUS

  • +1

Bought mine from previous AmazonUK deal and CPU-Z says they are dual rank. https://ibb.co/89nJ2N1

  • $230 now

Wondering if I should return my Patriot Viper Steel 2x32gb 3600mhz cl18 kit at $340 for these at $460 total….

    • +1

I picked up Crucial Ballistix 3600 2x32GB for $438 the other day @ Amazon. It quickly went unavailable, but they come in now and then.

    • +1

If you are into overclocking then yeah, 3600MTs Cl16's generally have a much better potential with overclocking so it "might" be worth the trouble of making that exchange.

But just to let you know, I made the purchase on the 19th and I have not been given an ETA yet. So even if you do decide to make the exchange, it might be a long while before you get one.

      • been getting one stopmode BSOD a day recently, so I don't know if it's the ram or not, been trying everything….
This Patriot ram won't even run at 3200mhtz CL16

Have till Jan 31 before I have to return. I may just get a stop gap Crucial ballistix 3200mhz cl16 32gb kit to hold me over for another month….

        • Hmm… Yeah I guess if you are (more than likely?) getting screwed over by your current ram then exchanging is probably worth a shot.
12% cashback capped at $25 tomorrow so I might cancel my sticks and order again just for the extra cashback.

@Outsider: Got an email alert that the Crucial 3600 cl16 64Gb kit was available at $440, went to the link, all gone :?

Anyway my ram is ok now, bumped the voltage to 1.4V and it's stable at Cl16-20-20-38
            At 1.42v stable at 16-19-19-38

Same rating as the crucial kit, but a bit cheaper at $340 at time of purchase

  • Red version for $221 from Amazon US when it gets back in stock

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B083TRXZ9N/ref=ox_sc_ac…

Can get two sets of the same memory for $497 shipped from Newegg

  • Available again (thanks AUsedname)

    • Yep, I contacted Amazon AU with regards to this and everyone who made a pre-order should be getting theirs some time 20th of January, +/- a couple of days depending on where you are. Thanks for the post edit/update, have no idea how to do those.

      • got an email from Amazon that it was available yesterday, ordered the last one, and shipped today!

        • Nice! I guess Amazon AU via UK's shipping has sped up for some reason, -I got my package around a week before the originally proposed date.

          • @Outsider: got my ram yesterday. That was quick

This kit seems more stable than the Patriot Viper Steel kit.
In that I was able to run it at CR of 1T, at XMP timings with 1.35v

had to turn on gear down mode or use 2T on all my Patriot Viper steel kits

          • @Outsider: ram is crazy good —

Running at 3800mhz, cl16-18-18-18-38, manually entered XMP values including Tfaw TRFC etc, at 1.4v
            1900 infinity fabric
            Command rate 1T

66ns latency on my Ryzen 3800x, MSi x570 Tomahawk

            :0

Will probably hit 4000mhz for a Ryzen 5000 series later on
