I have the ac1750 version of this router and I highly recommend it. Had mine for about 4 years and never missed a beat. I restart it every few months and that's it.

For the similar price, I would recommend this [deal] (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/592291).
It is an AX era, AC routers will be phrased out sooner or later in the coming years as more and more new devices like mobile phone and computer coming with AX WiFi equipped.

    • Agree, its AX time. should not waste money on AC routers.

    • What do you think about the TP-Link Archer AX20 AX1800 at $199. I probably prefer buying it from an Australian company for the convenience with warranty and support.

  • So what's the best nbn router to buy? I just exited Telstra and went to Superloop. But now I need a router :(

I am on the 250/25Mbps plan

I need at least 4 LAN ports, and a strong wifi.

    Cheers

Don't you have a Telstra smart modem?

      • yes, but it's from 2017 and the wifi signal doesn't reach my sons room when it is on the 5Ghz channel :(

So I am looking for something that will also be future proof.

Also, won't Telstra want their router back?

        • Future proof against?

          Nah you keep it.

          • @Twix: Oh, ok.

Future proof against new Wifi standards and speeds.

@pookie: Wi-Fi 6E is being looked at so you won't be future proofing against new Wi-Fi standards. Wi-Fi 6 is plenty fast assuming your device supports it.

Asus RT-AX86U and Asus RT-AX88U perform well.

  • Got the A6 (came free with Pineapple Net) and it has been fine.

    • Love the modern tarantula configuration although the $500+ price tag is not very Ozbargain
