  • What if it's a balance transfer from personal loan?

    • Virgin Money's cards are rebranded Citibank cards, with similar policies. Their "balance transfers" are incredibly generous, same as Citibank's "cheque to self" feature, they'll basically just transfer you the money. I got a card with a $50k limit on it, used it for three months to qualify for the sign up bonus, then had them transfer $40k to me on the last day (can use the 0% balance transfer up to three months after the card is issued) and put it in my offset account.

Second time round doing this for me.

  • Seriously Rewarding

Not if you pay off your card each month…

    • The trick is not to actually use the card, aside from the balance transfer, so that you don't incur any interest due to not paying off your card in full.

Can't find any note on Balance Transfer Fee, which I assume it might be zero then?
If that's the case this is a good and long BT deal..

Is this like CITI bank balance transfer where they send a cheque or this money will go directly to CC account?

    • +1

Will apply for sure if this is cheque or bsb

      • It's cheque or transfer; can't recall if they did to BSB, but they will do it to a bpay - I got them to bpay to my ANZ CC account, which doesn't charge me a cash advance fee to transfer out so long as the card balance is in credit (but check with your bank to confirm if you're going to do this).

  • Do you have to transfer the balance when you apply, or can it be anytime before the 29/01?

Thinking about buying a car on existing card and transferring balance to this card to pay off over a couple of years interest free.

The catch is if I buy the car then get refused this card I'm up a faecal river…

    • The "balance transfer" was available up to three months after the card approval date both times I've done this.

  • If you look around this forum, plenty of people with good credit history, income with low debt applied and got rejected and they don't tell you the reason why.

If you are looking to unnecessarily blemish your credit history, this is the place to do it.

  • Annual fee kills this deal.
