  I guess the question you have to ask yourself … do you buy less memory at faster speeds…. or do you buy a kit like this and overclock it.

  Generally speaking, slower memory but higher capacity always makes more sense. The DDR4 manufacturing process is pretty mature these days, so even slower rated RAM will generally run at faster clocks, especially if you're willing to loosen timings. This is a 2400 MHz CL15, I wouldn't be surprised if it ran at 3000 MHz CL16, possibly even 3200 MHz CL16, but I'd be more confident in it running at 3200 MHz CL18.

  You might have to bump up the voltages, but that's not a big deal. The only difference is that you don't get pre-configured XMP profiles, so you'll have to do a bit of tinkering.

    Also generally speaking, people looking to buy 128Gb of RAM aren't worried about the speed or timings. They need the RAM capacity itself, not necessarily the speed or timings as they have little impact on those sort of workloads I believe. So this is absolutely a great deal for those who need capacity, potentially could even go with 8 x 32Gb at this price.
