    Still too expensive

Will pull the trigger when it's 20 something

Still a pretty meaty 45hrs of gameplay, extremely expanded locales, new story elements, completely & new dialogue. Definitely worth the money even at full price imo

Considering the games going to have two more parts, idk. Thats basically $300 for a single remake.

Single remake, yes. But so much more content and story. I think it's worth it, paid $79 originally and got 45ish hours on the first playthrough. The original Midgar section was only 5-6 hours from memory. Have been itching to play it again lately which I normally don't do so soon after finishing it so at least another 40-45hrs. Can say I got my moneys worth easily, the game is incredibly well made.

@ozb88: While the game may feature more content and the graphics are certainly S tier, the idea of a split game sets a bad precedent for future releases. If youre paying for a game, it should feature the whole game, especially when were talking a remake. This is fundamentally different from releases of the past and acts almost akin to a drip feed system.
If a game is being released it should at minimum be complete and quality tested to a reasonable standard, and when games that arent to this bar are released and receive praise from critics (which themselves are held to virtually no standard) the bar is dropped even lower, and then becomes the new norm.

@Jenny Death: This doesn't make sense. It isn't just Final Fantasy VII with better graphics, it is a reimagining. In no way is this a low bar, the value proposition is $36 for 45 hours of content. You could probably sell it again for $15 after and really improve the value.

Many books, movies, and games stories spread across multiple releases. Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Gears of War, and so on. Just because the original version was one release doesn't mean this should be, what is the justification for that? Many hours have been put in by talented developers and they deserve compensation.

Remember guys this is part 1 of the remake. It's only the first area of FFVII. If you want to play all of FFVII remade at once you might need to wait until 2028.

  • Be aware. This game is SO hard (yes number VII).
Got this game gift as a kid. If you are bad at games you get stuck at a certain part and you are stuck there, you keep losing to boss.
Asked a teenager what was wrong they said you have to start try again.
Tried few times but always lose to boss, only able to play 10-20% of actual game.

    • As with 90% of the other RPGs if you don't level up well enough.

Or were you meaning the controls? Because I think you still get slow, turn based gameplay on this.

Yes that part is fine, the game allows you to take your time.
But yes the levelling up / points needed was too hard. You spend hours playing and suddenly you have too little points / strength to continue.
Going back to save game is the same thing, you have to start again from very beginning (new game).

        • There is always grinding though or at least you could in the original.

    • Game is difficult, but it's not a hard game. Did get stuck on a few bosses but after having a small break came back and best them. Fantastic game and combat system

Just bought mine. At this price, regardless of the critics, it’s still a nostalgic game to collect. Thanks OP!
