    To everyone looking to buy this:

    I also saw on a paper Supercheap Auto Catalogue beginning from 27 December 2020, Pioneer DMH-Z5350BT Head Unit will be sold for around $499

    Listen to OP's last line and wait 3 days

    • Confirming, $499 on 27th of December.

      Also Kenwood DMX5020S will be $479.

    • But this one comes with free reverse camera for extra $30. Though it's not clear what kind/model reverse camera is given.

  • Bought this unit six months ago for $449 at Auto One price matching Repco. I thoroughly recommend itand my Android phone has no problem connecting.

  • I really want the Kenwood DMX8520DABS, but i dont think its likely to be discounted at all. None of the big chain stores seem to stock it.

    RCAM2 is universal and works on any head unit such as AX5000 right?

  • Hey guys, I've have a 2013 Forester. I'm on Aeropro and it says that Option 1 is the harness/patch lead that will retain steering w controls. Would I need to get any additional cables/equip? Thanks!

      You will probably need a few things.

      Something like the following…

      This, to go from the car's wiring to ISO intermediate wiring;
      https://www.bankstownsound.com.au/product/aerpro-chsu3c/

      This to go from ISO intermediate wiring to the radio's wiring;
      https://www.bankstownsound.com.au/product/aerpro-app9pio8/

      I think these two things should handle Steering Wheel Controls (swc), power and speakers. I am not absolutely sure but I know I'm not far off. Maybe ring and talk to the shop? Or maybe someone elder can offer advice?

      Plus a fascia adaptor to fill the gap between the double-din size of the radio and the oversized hole from the factory radio. I think I got mine off eBay. They are possibly available on aerpro.

      • Thanks for the response, good to know! I might give the shop a buzz too. Cheers :)

        The speakers and power inputs are relatively simple.

        There may be a wire for the aerial remote.

        There will probably be a long wire for connection to the handbrake to allow video to play only when the handbrake is on. I didn't bother with mine. You can also make or buy bypass kits for this - Google it if interested.

        That little box on the first link does the SWC translation, because car manufacturers use different systems. Some use digital buses, like BMWs and various other European models. Others use different resistance values depending on which buttons are pressed, which is what your Forrester probably uses (my 2011 does). Those then have to be translated into a compatible signal for the head unit and mapped to what the head unit expects.

  • How easy is it to DIY reverse Canberra install?

    • I think they're a nightmare to install. I'd airtask it and someone will pick up the job for around $100.

      Autobarn was trying to tell me the install can take 3 hours at $135 an hour.

      The cam was $59 from Repco for RCAM2
