  • Great deal. This was the price on the TGGC site before it was removed.

  • +2

I paid $279 for a full sized weber in 1987, still have it. How things have become cheaper in 33 years.

    • +1

Wouldn't that have been one of the classic bell/charcoal webers though?

    • +4

      What's that adjusted for inflation?

      • +1

        $691.87

      • +1

According to the RBA Inflation Calculator $279 in 1987 would be equivalent to $691.87 in 2019.

Shame they don't have the high lid ones with thermometer

  • Nice find op!

  • +3

Is it worth waiting for a deal for the high lid ones with the thermometer? Feel like they’d be slightly more versatile.

    • +2

You only get that from weber premium dealers and they rarely have a deal

    • Can't recall seeing the premium versions ever going on sale. You can however ask for discounts on the accessories

    • +1

The lid thermometers are pretty crap. Invest in a Thermapen or Inkbird equiv.

    When is this special end?

    • It says on the link

  • Great. Thanks. Ends 30 Dec 2020

  • Not trolling, but is this a good price? Seems like it was much lower previously:

    • +2

Absolutely not trolling to have posted better previous deals.

    • +3

      • Yeah fair point. Didn’t look at that. Just trying to get a feel for what they go for usually and when on sale.

    • 6 Years ago? Seems its about time for a repeat deal! :D

Jokes aside, what a deal and we didn't even know it.

    • +1

Forgot that I even posted that.

Would love to get the premium model (Q1200) instead but can’t find anywhere on special yet. If anyone sees anything, please share with us.

    • Same here

      • Perhaps we can do bulk buy if you are in Sydney too

        • Im in Perth. Good idea though

          • @HotPie: No worries. Any one in Sydney interested in doing a bulk purchase of Q1200? Please let me know.

  • Anyone have experience with cooking on these things, instructions are that they perform best with the lid closed.
On my cheapo BBQ, lid is always up

    • +1

See my previous comment for previous q1000 deal last week. Cook with lid down. A+

    • +4

Had my Weber Q for many years now and cooking with the lid down is THE way to use it. It ensures it heats up quickly and maintains a constant high temperature. Think of it as a BBQ/oven as opposed to just a hot plate.

Perfect for roasts of all kinds and does the best home made pizzas as well.

Absolutely love it. And heaps of recipes on line for your to try. Make your own little foil package of flavoured smoking wood chips and toss it on the hot plate with your pre-brined chicken and you have the makings of the most succulent and tasty chicken roast you will every cook!

Use a thermal temperature sensor with it and you ensure your meat is cooked to absolute perfection!

    • Definitely lid closed while cooking, even for simple stuff like sausages and burgers.
These use less gas than a typical bbq, and stuff will take forever to cook with the lid open.

Only exception would be if you are trying to a roast/slow cook, it can be a little too hot even at the lowest setting so I usually wedge something in to prop the lid open a few inches.

  • Are these really sufficient for 5-6 people or would the Family Q be better? seems like a decent price jump between the two.

    • Perfectly fine, unless you want to change one of the grill plates out for a hot plate so it's half half. Then you might be limited for space.

    • +2

Actually the baby Q is a bit small for a family. The middle model (Q 2000 I think is the number) is the perfect size for a full size roast for a family etc.

The 2 burner family Q is more suited for larger get togethers.

      • Yeah I did some research after I posted and the issue now seems to be by the time you add a patio stand to the Q2000 you are only around $80 more for a family but the family is way less efficient on gas (36 hours vs 20 hours).

      • I agree, the baby Q would definitely be too small for 5+ people! Family Q is the go if you're going to be having additional people over regularly

  • Can this be stacked with zip pay 10% cashback?

    • Can confirm that zip pay 10% works. Works out to be $251

  • Wish there was a sale for the Weber Family Q

  • Just finished Xmas lunch cooked (fish)
on this model- have two Webers big one sorry forgot model #
and this which was purchased for travelling
-quick and easy low mess clean up too.
Paid $273.60 a few weeks ago.
    Cheers

  • Weber Q BBQs are the best

  • Thanks OP, looking forward to using it

  • Thinking of getting one but does anyone know if I can just put it on an outdoor table made from timber?
Or do I need a special stand for it? TIA.

    • +1

      Table is fine.

      • +1

        Thank you :)

  • Any bargains on Q3100?

  • Latitude pay just released $20 bonus for any purchase over $60, which brings this down to $257

  • Anyone else having trouble ordering this with delivery?

  • Looking for a baby Q, Family Q and Master Touch
Haven’t seen any Boxing Day deals around, but the local specialists shop said that if I was buying all three they would “work something out”
