  • Might pick one up for my kids school but do no sub $500 Chromebooks come with ssds?

    • Not sure about your kids' school, but most school does runs software that is non Chrome.

$500 should be able to get a similar specs Windows machine that can also run Chrome.

      • Can you recommend one, I'm shopping for one for my kids?

          Will this work ? https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/lenovo-ideā€¦

School gives children Windows 10 for free, so you can upgrade the default Windows 10S.

          • @jpl: looks good. thianks for that.

          • @jpl: unfortunately out of stock statewide.

          • @jpl: After calling several stores, I found one which has some in stock. They had it on sale for 515 rather than 575 as per the website price.

            • @Zenith2k3: This is a great price. Please make sure that if you have decided to pick this up, it is the 1080p version. This model has a lower end resolution similar price. Print out the spec from officeworks just in case.

School with edu email do have access to free software like Windows and Office. For Office it is better to use the perpetual version than the 365 version. As for Windows you can update to Windows 10 EDU or which ever full windows your state edu is giving.
