Cyberpower 8 Port Surge Protector $29 + Delivery/Pickup @ Centre Com

1010

This is not currently the lowest price ever, but hard to resist if you can pick up and not pay for delivery. I already have one and it's shockingly good for an 8 port surge protector with 2 usb ports.

EDIT: Two great alternatives spotted by ItsAlwaysOutofStock and LuffyTuffyFluffy:
PCByte (Sydney siders) - $25 each pick up (OOS)

Shopping express - $39 for 2 + shipping

  • Great pack, was tempted to pay for postage till I saw $9.95…..

    • +5

Not sure how much cheaper Postage can get for something of this size?

      • Turns out I haven't posted anything in a while, Auspost quoted me $8…. I'm too use to prime and ebay plus.

      • +3

OzB are allergic to freight charges. Most people seem to prefer it built into the cost of the item for some reason even if it's the same overall price.

        • Yes, there's definitely a lot of resistance to freight charges.

          • @[Deactivated]: Ohm-y what a good one!

          • @[Deactivated]: exactly, even at $25 each delivered they are great and provide more joules than most out there for even $40

  • +2

Free shipping if you buy 3 or combine with other products to make the order over $79.

    Thanks OP. Picked up 4.

Thanks op. I purchased one recently at RRP and was really impressed. Picked up another for that price just to have!

    • How are you getting 2 for $39? Says $39 for one for me…did I miss it, or am I missing something?

Edit: oh, added to cart, and it worked! Cheers!

    • +6

Great find! Anyone spot an item for about $10 with free shipping (to offset shipping cost)?

    • Has it changed to $39 for one?

Not sure if the listing is for 2 or they mean 2 USB ports? They do have a listing for a single unit so this looks okay.

        • +3

Yeah, have the same question. Sent a message to the seller on eBay . Will update when I hear.

        • +1

          It's 2 x units

If you look at their single listing, it doesn't state x 2 but is an identical product

          https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261611150009

          • @xscape: their single unit is $25+$14.95 delivery

            • +4

              @davidl2: Bad News :

Update from the seller : Thanks for the message. Our eBay listing is for one power board, and the 'x2' indicates that the power board comes with 2 USB ports.

Your order is already labelled and sorted into Auspost cages, ready for collection and shipping. If you would like to return and refund the item, you can refuse delivery once it arrives or let us know once you get it and we can provide a pre-paid return label.

Everyone who ordered it from their Ebay might have to return it.
The deal looked too good to be true anyways. LOL

              • +1

@veyron: They message me confirming that I'm getting 2
                Strange getting different answers.

Thanks for the message. We can confirm we will be sending out two power boards.

Cheers and have a Happy New Year.

                • @Quickshot: They originally responded to users confirming that the listing was for only one unit.

At some point this morning, it must have been escalated to management, who subsequently decided to honour the two units, as a gesture of good will. Hence those whose orders had not yet been packed received a different message confirming that they are sending out two.

Good on them for honouring it as a gesture of good will! :)

        • +2

they removed the “x2” from the listing title. I ordered hoping for two to come. Will return free with eBay plus once it comes.

          • @schnackysmores: Yeah, same here - thank goodness for eBay Plus!

            • +2

              @poppingtags: Update again :

I sent them an email again.

They said that they will send out the 2nd one once I receive my first one and confirm it .(EBAY policy) .
My order was already packed and ready for collection, hence they will send another one. For all others whose order wasn't packed , they are sending out too.

The management made this decision apparently.

So, I would leave a good eBay review . Good on them 🙂

(CyberPower 8 Way Outlet Surge Protector Power Board iPhone Charger USB Ports x2)

Just wanted to confirm if it is 2 power boards or 2 usb ports?

        • +1

I have ordered on se site and i can confirm they are 2 units, when you add in the cart you can see yourself

          • @randomrandom: How did you confirm it's 2 units? Contacted the shipper, they have confirmed it's 1 unit with USB ports x2. You should cancel if you're expecting 2 units.

            • @Jantato: I ordered 2x for $51 delivered from Shopping Express, probably the safer bet.
Didn't need but have to grab them while they're cheap and can always return a belkin to bunnings (or gift a new one).

              • @G-rig: oh hey yes looks like Shipping Express website (not ebay) is actually for 2. What a great deal! I'll go and grab it now. Cheers!

            • +1

@Jantato: I checked with the Ebay Seller.
They said its for 1X unit and 2X USB power ports.

check again. think they might have restocked. i just ordered

  • Nice deal OP! I've got the Belkin 8 Port Surge Protector and thinking if its worth upgrading.

  • I'm quite a newbie with electricals and computing. What exactly do you mean by shockingly good? What's the criteria behind that? Thanks!

    • +3

Quite a newbie with Ozbargain humour too

    • Currently a pretty good deal considering Officeworks sells these at RRP for ~$59.
      And because electricity puns.

  • I'm looking for one with individual switches. This looks good. https://www.centrecom.com.au/alogic-vrova-quad-outlet-surge-…

  • can you plug power boards like these to a ups?

      • $14.95 postage even for click and collect.
      • ops I’m pretty sure they did edit their ebay listings.

  • For ppl in Sydney (free click and collect in Auburn) PC Byte has it for $25

  • -1

Very low surge rating. I wouldn't be hooking valuable items up to it thinking they are protected.

    • +1

Surge Suppression ( Joules) 2750 too low? How much do I need for a TV?

      • +2

Sorry, my bad. I googled it and another site came back with wrong specs. Or i glanced at wrong model. Either way I take it back! :) 2750 is adequate protection so this is a decent deal.

      • Yeah that's heaps, I still got a good crest power board (with master and slave plugs) that was free from the gov years ago with 1928 Joules - even that's far more than most available in the shops.

I recently got 2x Belkin 6 outlet boards with 650 Joules for about $32 each, so these ones posted are a great deal. Shame I don't really need any more unless I used the beefier one for the PC.

  • What do people use for a wall mounted tv? I have a point just for it so only need a single surge plug.

  • +2

I have so many of these around the house because they're cheap but I find the plugs are always so loose and they spark. For all of them. Don't have this issue with any other kind of powerboard.

    • Guess it depends on how much you pull in and out the sockets - I have 4 already and they've all been fine (no sparking, not too loose etc)

  • The ebay listing for two for $39.50 is the real deal here, thanks to behrouz.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/261535154113

When I added to cart eBay told me I had a "TAKE10OFF" voucher. Had to pay CC but brought the price down to $29.50 for two units shipped.

    I'm assuming TAKE10OFF is targeted.

edit: not targeted. Published as new deal.

    • +3

They need to take off that misleading title, it's actually just for one power board.

      • +1

        It's USB ports x2 I assume

      • +1

        ebay OOS anyway
2 for $39 plus postage on shopping express seems the best.
(is it free postage over $50?)

    • It's for ONE power board, with USB ports x2.
You should cancel if you're expecting 2 boards.

      • That's right. I don't know who negged you. Its for 1 power board they confirmed.

        • +1

I just received confirmation through eBay that the listing was for two power boards as titled:

Thanks for the message. We can confirm we will be sending out two power boards.

$14.75 shipped, new all-time lowest price.

          • @Shard: Dang that's cheap, and had a $5 voucher too. out of stock anyway

          • @Shard:

$14.75 shipped, new all-time lowest price.

Did you just pay $14.75 for 2 units of this power board (including shipping)?
How is that possible? The TAKE10OFF code only gives you $10 off.

            • @DoctorCalculon: SE had a listing for "x2" boards for $39.50 shipped on eBay. The $10 off code brought that down to $29.50.

              $29.50/2 = $14.75.

              Great start to the week!

          • +1

@Shard: Just to be clear, they did NOT confirm that the listing is for two units (in fact they confirmed the exact opposite, and even changed the title of the listing!). But what they ARE doing is honouring the two units as a gesture of good will.

Lucky for us who ordered before they fixed the listing to clarify! :)

            • @caprimulgus: Well they also had two listing on Ebay, one for $25 then the listing for 2x at $39.50 and them running the buy one get one free on their own site. I think they are as confused as we are.
Based on this it was safe to assume you were going to get two on the 2x listing.

              • @Quickshot: Yea only received one unit. I will message them and see what happens. I used the discount so it still works okay.

  • -2

No individual switch no PD ports skipping

  • -1

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/arlec-12-outlet-power-board-with…

This seems better and good value for $21.79

    • +1

Doesn't list the surge protection in the specs so would be next to nothing (175 joules is what other cheap ones list at least)

      • Hhmm. I got sold at 12 outlets, dont really need all that surge protection

  • Edit: Wrong thread

  • The Cyperpower spec sheet lists 'clamping voltage L-N, L-G, N-G 1200V'

From what I've read that seems quite high. Possibly making it an ineffective surge protector. 300-400V seems to be a better figure.

    Thoughts?

    • Not sure what that voltage means but the 8 outlet Belkin one is 6000V, and a lot less joules of protection
Need someone good at physics and stuff but it seems like a solid board

  • PCByte is sold out

  • Shopping Express seems to be sold out as well.
Someone must have gone full Broden on them.
