      The 8k is mostly pointless, but 4k >60hz makes displayport 1.4 important for some.

      Some gaming monitors (i.e. 2K 165Hz) support / use DisplayPort 1.4.

      Some of the 'inferior' dodgy DisplayPort 1.2 cables don't work well on those gaming monitors (occasional black outs being quite common). However, as I have not used this particular cable, I am not sure whether that's real / proper DisplayPort 1.4 cable. So far, I've either used the cable provided by the monitor maker or VESA certified DisplayPort 1.4 cables.

      Technically a DP8K cable is rated for HBR3 bitrates (>4k75, e.g. 8k60, 4k120, etc.).

      That said, I don't think this cable is actually DP8K certified, so whether it meets the requirements or not … ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      Do you have any issue with the DP cable that came with S2721DGF? You don't need another cable. If you have any issue with that DP cable, ask Dell to replace it.
