It actually just launches on Origin and doesn't even use Epic Game Store at all. You can't even install it on Epic. Kinda weird, never realy seen a store launch into another store.

So you will be just using Origin instead to play Battlefront 2.

In case anyone is wondering "What happens if I already have BF2 in Origin" … it creates a second BF2 launcher with "Epic Games Store" labelled on it.

      • +4

But it keeps all your previous stats etc. so no progess lost

        • But also nothing gained.

          • @cruiseronroad: You should get all of the cosmetic dlc included in the celebration edition unlocked when you launch via epic version. Once the DLC is granted to you then you can remove the epic version and go back to launching the regular origin version.

    • Yeah had a few games from Epic do this, it's very confusing but I don't mind in the end. Especially when they're free.

  • Got 3, thanks OP.

Well that wasn't a straight forward download..

You don't have to start again if you already owned BF2 previously. All star cards and levels are still there

I feel a sense of pride and accomplishment that i didn't have to give EA any money to play this game

  • Origin is asking me for the product code. I remember this with squadrons. Epic is a disaster.

    • Is that before or after you've installed the game?. It didn't ask me for a product code on Origin. It went straight to the installation.

      • It asks me to activate the product, I click activate and it then asks for the product code. This same thing happened with the star wars squadrons release back in October. I suspect the servers are overloaded.

        • Well it's probably better to hold off for a while before trying to play. Servers being hammered because of the giveaway.

          • @hollykryten: I was having the same problem but it now works. What happens is Epic will install/launch Origin when you try to install, then Origin downloads the game. Hence the need to register/link the game to your EA/Origin account before you can install it. Once done you can then go directly to the Origin client to install and manage the game without the need to use the Epic launcher.

            Download size: 90.22 GB.

  • Thanks OP

  • Should be a great game.

  • Guys whats the player base like now? I haven't played for about a year.

Any word on Cross platform for this?

    • Galactic assault lobbies up every day, usually some other modes as well like hvv and starfighter, supremacy. Right now with it for free there are loads of ppl.

  • So you just keep running into the other team and shooting until either of you die?

    • +1

you haven't played a modern shooter before?

      • +2

I might enjoy them more if I was better at them the the average player. Instead of being worse.

        • +1

Galactic Assault is the most popular mode where you have objectives to progress through the map. Defend a point, attack a point, destroy walkers/shield generators etc. There are definite tactics involved for competent players. And there are weapons to counter most classes with the exception of perhaps the silly jet troopers. Everything else including vehicles are relatively easy to kill if you can be bothered to change your weapon load out (most do not, funnily enough).

The easiest way to level up to unlock cards is via the Co-Op mode where you team up with ppl to kill bots basically. Racks up XP to unlock better guns/cards. Officer and Heavy class are what i would recommend, and play aggressively. Its an easy game once you know the basics, but like most shooters its riddled with players who play not to die rather than to kill if that makes sense. PM if you need some guidance.

@Xizor: I like the big team battle mode best. Especially with the droid banter, and the graphics, and loud speakers. Feels more like a scene from the movie than the regular mode.

            • @AustriaBargain: That would either be Galactic Assault (most popular) or Supremacy (bit boring/repetitive for me).

    • The game does have an admittedly short single player campaign with decent production values.

  • How does this install? Mine is saying unavailable on Epic Games library… sorry if mentioned previously

    • Mine was doing the same thing but the install button showed up after a little while.

    • I had the same problem. It worked after I had Origin open at the same time

  • 45%… Download taking ages…

Make sure it didn't launch the game in the background when its at 18%.
It did that to me but then it went back to full speed after i exited out.

  • Downloading!

  • Only 5% after half an hour… This is going to take ages

  • Early call, but post of the year?

  • -1

it won't work on linux :(

  • Early congrats on deal of the month? 😉

  • Cheers!

  • Wtf, way playing this afternoon, just tried logging on and said too many people are trying, try again later.

I try again now it says my account is restricted from accessing and online features.
I honestly have done nothing wrong.

Anyone else getting the same error?
    Code 918

  • Wow almost all content unlocked with all skins as well for free!!! EA not making money on this game anymore???

  • Anyone else having fun with Origin? Mine says my credentials have expired but I just reset password and cleared cache and still no go. I hate the origin launcher!

  • Need to install Origin on this…..any catch yas?

  • Just crashes the machine. Locks up on launch.

  • EA servers were having issues yesterday. Did get on and was hooked for a good hour and a half. So many modes and plenty of eras to choose from . Learning curve seems to be OK with the learning mainly being around the unlocks and "cards"

  • Just realize that I bought this game before.
