Krups XP5280 Coffee Machine $149 (+ $10 Shipping) RRP $399

90

i have been looking for a non pod coffee machine at entry level and came across this one.
it is a semi automatic on grays outlet. Says rrp 399 but have seen on ebay for $199+ postage.

is new - just slightly damaged packaging it states
2 year warranty.

postage to nsw was $10 for me.

It says it will take pod as well as ground coffee so hopefully a good starter.

thought i would share.

  • Also another good option at this range is the Sunbeam Cafe Crema. I saw Target had it on clearance for only $100 the other day. They still are only $199 RRP but they make a great coffee when paired with a Sunbeam EM0480 and fresh beans.

      This Krups + EM0480 = win.
MOST important factors in making good coffee (1) the skills of the person making it (2) the grinder (3) the freshness and quality of the beans.
Far LESS important is the machine - as long as it is reasonable, and this Krups certainly is.
Always buy a good grinder, and learn how to make coffee. The amount of ppl with $1000 coffee makers that have sh*t grinders and no skill in making and/or use stale beans make me weep - I ask them for a cup of tea instead.

Thanks x I ended up getting a EM0450 as I don't have the $$ for the next model and from review were mostly cosmetic upgrades . Picked one up new for $75 x

        • Yep very nice buy. The only difference is that the 0480 is stainless steel rather than plastic.

Since I have got mine I have been churning out some great coffees every day, you will love it.

Thanks nubsy- sorry I went to press + but big fingers little phone- hopefully mods can fix that up for me.
I'm glad you like yours x I'm building this package up for a Xmas gift for hubby .
Now to find good beans xx

In case anyone is interested got machine at. Www.alwaysonsale.com.au it was $75 + $20 post but of you enter SUNBEAM20 at checkout they give you $20 off sunbeam (ultimately free post ;)

That was a really annoying review though.

From some digging on a few sites the biggest complaint seems to be that the milk frother isn't that great. Issues ranging from it loses its heat after 30 seconds (pumps just water) to it's just not getting hot enough. The automatic milk system worked better but again was not perfect.

I bought it from Grays a while ago for the same price but arrived DOA a week later with the steamer not working. Called Grays and took them almost a week to have the return label processed, one week for return and another week for the replacement to arrive. Ended up buying a Saeco Odea after returning and selling the replacement instead.

The packaging wasn't damaged at all so I guess it implies there's a few bad picks in the batch. Probably an ok machine with mixed reviews but not bad for the price if it's functioning properly when it arrives.

    • I've had similar experiences with Grays, take very long if you have any issues. Apart from the ever increasing 'buyers premium %age'. I used to but no longer buy from them.

      • i havent had a problem with grays. find they have fast delivery and just a note that the outlet has no buyers premium :)

Got mine! Now I can fill the portafilter direct from the EM0480 grinder without making a mess.
Previously had to half-fill, tamp down, top up, and still have grounds miss the head.
The Krups one is deep, so much easier. Easy to empty too.

Only problem so far is that you cannot see how much water is left in the tank, and it creates a lot of trouble when it runs out mid dose.

This plus $75 EM0450 deal = bargain espresso.

    • P.S. Absoulutely new looking, including the box.

      An issue:
      - sometimes it does not stop pumping water, or at least goes too long. Anyone else had this?

  • Awesome mine arrived Tuesday still waiting for my grinder from alwaysonsale- been a week do will see. All wrapped up ready for hubby's Xmas! Glad to hear it is good x
