First up: Hitman 1 was a freebie on the Epic Store so you all should have it.

When Hitman 3 launches you will be able to get the Hitman 1 Game of the Year Access Pass for free provided you have already "bought" Hitman: The Complete First Season.

The Hitman 1 Game of the Year Access Pass will give you content from the first game to be played in Hitman 3, whenever you choose to buy it.

    This is good news. So it upgrades the base Hitman to Hitman GOTY i take it. Or am i wrong?.

      No, that is not what it does. It will allow you to play the Hitman 1 levels and locations in Hitman 3, regardless of when you buy it. I think progress will also be carried over.
      At the moment, if you buy Hitman 3 at release the pass is included anyway but that will not necessarily stay that way.
      If I am not mistaken, if you buy Hitman 3 later, and have the Hitman 1 GOTY access pass and buy the Hitman 2 GOTY access pass, then you can carry over progression etc. from H1 and H2 to H3. Or in other words, play a really long Hitman campaign spanning all three games, in the Hitman 3 engine.
      That is how I understand it and read the article.

          The freebie is the Access Pass, not Hitman 3. The title clearly states that. It does not state: [PC] Epic - Free - Hitman 3 - Epic Store.
          Article states clearly that the prices have not yet been set but that there will be a price for the passes.

      I'm accumulating free games in preparation for the future when I'm old and retired and not bringing in much money. I won't be able to afford new games, so I will spend my twilight years catching up on the games I missed out on in my middle-aged years :P

      Hitman 3 isn't free, the title is somewhat misleading. If you previously claimed Hitman Season 1 on the epic store during the free giveaways and then purchase Hitman 3 (currently like $80) then the content from Hitman 1 will be made available in Hitman 3.

      This is the same offer they gave with Hitman 2 that if you own Hitman 1 any content you have for it will be available in Hitman 2 and was not a timed offer. I think this deal is the same and will always be available. The actual deal is that since Hitman 2 isn't on the Epic store they will be selling Hitman 2 Pass for Hitman 3 for a big discount at launch.

    It doesn't seem like its actually free for anyone who doesnt pay for Hitman3

      When H2 was released some bright spark found a loophole that allowed you to get H1 Legacy Pack (non-GOTY) free.

      Says unobtainable deal, which I guess means they closed the loophole eventually, but I managed to snag it.

      Maybe something similar will happen here, LOL.

        That was a good loophole. They basically had a free trial period for Hitman 1 which let you play the entire game but while that trial content was activated on your account you could download the demo of Hitman 2 and it would detect the content and then grant you a DLC of Hitman 1 content inside Hitman 2. After the Hitman 1 trial ended you kept the DLC for the 2nd game :)

      Oh thanks for the downvote when I am asking where the "Free" part is of a freebie on a bargain website, this is basically an advertisment and Lysander should really know better since they post Epic deals on the regular.

          Honestly I dont give a toss how prolific he is, or who you are. This is a deals site and I thought it wasn't a deal that got posted.

          I have assisted a small number of people here before and have recommended heaps of people to this site, just because I haven't posted deals doesn't mean I dont care about this place itself. If you are really worried about me not posting any deals I can be all smartassy and start posting every new game that pops up on steam at 15% off if you really want me to.

      You can get the Hitman 1 Access Pass without purchasing Hitman 3 now provided you own Hitman 1: The Complete First Season. To just get the access pass no purchase of Hitman 3 is necessary. You can get the pass now and wait and hope until Hitman 3 is free and then use the Access Pass for it.

        With Hitman 2 you could download the demo version of Hitman 2 (tutorial area) and it would let you play your Hitman 1 content inside the Hitman 2 engine. Hopefully they carry this forward for Hitman 3.

        Redeeming the Hitman 1 access pass for free if you already own Hitman 1 content shouldn't be a time limited thing as that has been available for Hitman 2 on Steam/PSN/XB as a permanent feature.

            @SHPION: Please read the article. I am too tired to explain it all again.
            According to you all DLC that is given away as free temporarily would fall foul of such law as DLC certainly does require the purchase of another product to enjoy it.

            But the detail matters here: not necessary to buy another product to GET the free product but merely to USE the free product.

            So all is fine with Australian law.

    I'm still confused what the hell this is - it sounds like DLC for Hitman 3 to allow you to play Hitman 1 with the new engine. If it requires purchase of H3, then it's definitely not free.

    Also, why is everything called a 'pass' nowadays? Makes it sound like it's going to expire after a year and hence be useless because it'll take longer than that to get around to playing it.

      That's what it is, the DLC is also only free if you pre-order Hitman 3 or previously already own Hitman 1 on Epic from the giveaway promotions.

      It seems the only way to get the Hitman 1 GOTY access pass is to buy Hitman 3. Man what a let down.

      In order to have a buy a $84.95 game in order to get this so called freebie is a major bummer. I thought i was going to get a free upgrade from HITMAN to HITMAN GOTY. With no purchase of any other game necessary. I was so wrong.

        Essentially, what is free here is the Access Pass for Season 1 even after the initial offer for the release of Hitman 3 has expired.

          Well where do you get it from for Hitman 1 owners?. I see no way of getting it off the Epic Games store for the original Hitman. The original Hitman from the old giveaway doesn't even show on the store.

          I notice this is what it says at the top of the HITMAN GOTY web page.

          "Get the HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 1 GOTY Edition DLC for FREE at checkout if you own HITMAN GOTY"

          It seems that you have to actually own Hitman GOTY. That was a purchase in the first place. Not the original Hitman which was given away on that previous Epic Games giveaway.

          It looks like Hitman GOTY is what is Hitman the complete first season is as what's shown in the article. Us original Hitman owners can't get this access pass DLC. It's the Hitman 1 GOTY DLC for Hitman 3 that's what's being given away.

          I was wrong you can also get the Hitman 1 GOTY access pass DLC for Hitman 3 if you own Hitman GOTY. That game was not given away so it was a purchase expense in the first place.

          And you also get it if you buy Hitman 3 at the moment. Well you get Hitman GOTY DLC access pass for Hitman 3 for free. You get to play all the Hitman GOTY in Hitman 3. This is what the actual giveaway is. If you already own Hitman GOTY on Epic Games then you get the Hitman 1 GOTY access pass DLC for Hitman 3 for free at any time in the future. But in any case you need to own Hitman 3 to be able to play the DLC.

          So if you want the Hitman 1 GOTY access pass for Hitman 3 and be able to play it you've obviously got to buy Hitman 3. That's an $84.95 expense.

          In any case to obtain Hitman GOTY was a purchase. So either way it was a purchase in the first place to get this so called freebie.

          It's not like they are giving away a whole complete game as a freebie, no previous purchase required.

          The original Hitman which is what many got on the previous Epic Games giveaway many days ago is not eligible for the free Hitman 1 GOTY access pass DLC for Hitman 3. It's not the complete first season which is what the GOTY is.

          So sorry folks i see no bargain. Many may be disappointed.

            @hollykryten: The way I read it, you get Hitman 1 GOTY if you buy Hitman 3 within the first 10 days of launch, whether you already have it or not. After that, only people who previously owned GOTY will be able to claim it.

            The H1 they gave away on EGS was the standard edition, which presumably only included the core missions (half of which you could've gotten free over time anyway).

            The loophole during H2 gave people the Hitman 1 "Complete First Season" which includes everything EXCEPT the Patient Zero campaign.

            GOTY includes everything including Patient Zero.

            Clear as mud!

            But I believe the "deal" is getting H1 GOTY free within first 10 days of launch of H3. Not the best deal but a deal nontheless. After that the deal post serves a secondary purpose of being a reminder for owners of H1 GOTY to claim their access pass if/when they do purchase H3.
