Just FYI, this product has been discontinued and there may not be any ongoing support.

Also, it is a pain to install on the wall based on previous posts here and also on reddit forums.

  • any cheap knockoffs where I can get more tiles?

    • +2

Just be aware with many alternatives, like nanoleaf/kogan etc the each panel is only capable of showing one colour at a time. As far as I know, LIFX is still unmatched in its colour zone blending for tiles. It's capable of far more complex patterns because of this.

Just FYI be prepared to smash your brain getting these to connect!

    • Spent 2hrs with the Nanoleaf Canvas and2x Android phones and 1 iPad (had to install all tht Home Kit JUNK) the other day… and their cloud sync doesn't actually sync devices.

  • Looks so tacky. No wonder it's no longer being made.

I have 2 sets of these in my stream room that I got for this same price each about a year ago from Bunnings.

They are a little bit fiddly to arrange on the walls, but with a bit of effort you can get a set done in about 30 minutes.

They were an amazing purchase and the colour options, right down to being able to draw custom patterns, even words onto the panels are amazing. I almost want to buy a 3rd set for the bedroom but don't have the spare funds right now haha

I would recommend these over nanoleafs just for the huge price saving and they even integrate with my streams where viewers can change the colours and trigger different effects directly through my chat.

I find the Nanoleafs aren't particularly impressive. The panels can do solid colours, fade in and out and that's about it. There are no shading effects nor are the individual lights in the panels addressable. Cololights for example are much cheaper but the tiny leds within the panels are addressable so you can create ripple effects and other cool things. I have both Cololights and Nanoleaf and I like the cheaper cololights better.

      • Never heard of Cololights - but just found them on Catch of the Day and they look pretty darn amazing for the cheap prices :O Thanks for the recommendation!

      • But arent these tiny in comparison?

        • Yes they're small but it's a pro depending on your use case. If you want to blanket our your wall with LED's then the Nanoleaf is better. Whereas the Cololights can be mounted on a wall or used as a desk feature with the included stand which obviously you can't do with the Nanoleaf. The lighting effects you can do in the coloights give it the edge for me https://youtu.be/nSLSK9x0Gvw?t=262

  • More landfill

Honestly even though this seems cheaper than nanoleaf I’d stay away from it. LIFX has no support for ambilight so if you’re planning on the tiles changing with a screen it won’t happen. Also no music visualiser or anything.

But if you just want coloured lights go for it, but if you pay the premium for a brand you’d expect the smart features.

Right now Nanoleaf/Hue are my go to for the best integrations.

I have 2 sets of these - both support ambilight via third party software and music visualizer along with being compatible with my google nest and apple homekit.

  • Every time I see these I really like the idea but I can never think of a way that I'd want to use them. Kids rooms and gamer lairs seems to be the main use case.

  • I have these and can confirm I have given up putting these on the wall but they still look really good if you have it leaning on the wall somewhere and can just hide the wires behind.

    • These are also exceptionally bright

  • Check your local bunnings, got some from there in the last deal and pretty sure I saw it in my local yesterday for $150.

    • not on their website?

Avoid, please avoid. I have two sets and don't use them. First of all they are pretty thick compared to nanoleaf. 2nd thing pretty heave also, EXTREMELY difficult to put together, especially if you want more then 5 tiles connected together, there's 1 special one with a green dot that has to be the 1st tile, then you add others, forgot how to add another set and placement of the 2nd tile with a green dot etc. You get a 15cm cable that connects 2 tiles, each tile has only 2 connector ports, you have to spin the cable around the tile to shrink the length so it's tight fit between tiles if you want them to look as 1 pice at the end. What i recommend to do if you want to set these up is go go to bunnings buy something thin, firm, cut it out in the shape of how you want the thing on your wall to look, first attach the tiles on that and then the whole thing on the wall, otherwise you'll NEVER get it wll connected with those SH!TY cables together to look smooth, they are a nightmare!!!!

Have no idea did anyone at all test this before releasing. Still prefer nanoleaf, but colour effects are nicer on these ones.
