same price on Amazon for ages

    A wise man once said:

"why is this a bargain? It belongs in the forums…"

  • +3

Cex has 2nd hand animal crossing switches for 470, ozbargain thought they were the new Bitcoin for half of 2020

    gen 1 or gen 2?

    • +5

Surely no gen 1 exists in shops

  • +6

bought one on black friday with mario kart and some games. barely got any use tbh, like 2 hours in one month. just sold it few days ago (didn't lose money).

just double check with yourself are you really gonna use it or its a novelty item for example being able to play while travelling.

    • +9

Anyone who calls the Nintendo Switch a novelty item doesn't deserve to to play it in the first place.

you must have roasted that guy so hard he deleted his account.

    • +4

I actually completely agree with this. Got mine a while back for Pokemon Sword and after 30 hours on it, don't play it at all especially with no plane travel. BotW was okay but not all that. There's nothing of real interest if you don't like the same rehashed Nintendo games so it's been on the shelf for a year and half. We do appear to be the minority though.

      • +3

did you finish botw? honestly i kinda hated it until i was about 60% in. then i suddenly loved it. age of calamity is quite similar - hated it, then started to love it. mario odyssey is the best mario ive played since 64 and the best thing about it is assist mode (kids can play through to the end no problem)

        • I did not to be honest. I just lost interest and never went back to it. I do like the hardware & form factor very much (and wish Sony would do another PS Portable) but just not into the Nintendo suite of games anymore. Unfortunately completely grew out of them even though the GBA Glacier Blue will always be my most favourite console ever.

          • @Hybroid: i lost interest after getting lost and frustrated, then forgetting what i supposed to do. i picked it back up 2 years later and finished it. if you ever get the chance, i highly recommend pushing through and finishing it. not that big of a game. the mechanics reinvigorated my love for zelda. pokemon unfortunately remains the same game

            • @belongsinforums: I'm keeping it anyway and might give it another go when we can fly international long-haul again. Thanks for the boost.

              • @Hybroid: exactly what i did! made a new file on a trip to europe. played whenever on long distance transport. finished it and was left wanting more

      • Yep, well said. Switch is a great console and I can recommend it to anyone.

But i really don't get much time to game, so the $500 i spent on switch and games felt like a waste, just for it to sit there begging for usage.

I usually just game on my ps or pc.

And in terms of portability, I have a jailbroken ps vita so that also fills the need. The switch i purchased mainly out of hype and impulse, and I knew from the moment I purchased that I wouldn't lose $$ on it cos it was a solid deal.

        • +1

if you bought the first iteration of the switch, its worth quite a bit as its hackable

      • got mine on Black Friday and got 130 hrs BOTW, 50 Animal Crossing, and 30 Smash, and more. Tbh I find myself playing on the switch more even though I have a gaming pc.

    • It is more fun if you have kids or friends who have gone through NES or SNES era to play together with.

    • +1

Sold mine (first gen, so it has uh "benefits") for more than I paid for it, people went a bit bonkers through lockdown. Only game I really enjoyed was Mario Tennis when there was good matchmaking going on, that and Odyssey

90% of the gaming was with a mate of mine who worked in a tap house, exchanged time playing mario kart with him for free beer when it was really quiet in there.

A+++ would recommend if you have a bored friend at a tap house.

  • Why do people choose this over PS5 or Xbox?

    • +3

      Pokemon, zelda, mario…

    • +2

      Portability and convenience.

Easy to fit in gaming if you're busy or have to share TV

    • +1

I find that Switch is better suited for local co-op multi player games. There's a game that suits everyone. And the portability is a big plus.

    • +1

      Portability is great

    • +1

      nintendo content

    • Just my Monster Hunter: Rise machine for the next few months.

Until world 2 comes out years later, then I'm bouncing back to PC.

    • A PS5/Series X is about $750 a Switch is almost half of that.

Also that a LOT of people like Nintendo Games and also a LOT of people love Playstation games.

  • +3

I remember 2 years ago getting the new Switch for 350 with Mario Kart 8.

Do you remember actual good switch deals? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

    • +1 for the Futurama ref. Miss that show.

      • +3

        Isn't it from family guy?

    • Last time it was $349 was only 2 months ago:

Black Friday is a one time discount, this deal's price is permanent.

        • If its permanent then its regular,it isnt a deal anymore

  • 399…..I can still remember I added one $1 dollar pen and got my $100 cash back from Harvey Normal…to make it 299…. around that time, no one will know how popular Switch will be right now..

  • Shame the Mario red and blue edition isn't the same price :(
