    Chromebooks sell mostly for education, and don't need high specs (not so bloated as Windows 10), so the more modest specs are the big sellers.

    Generally not. You'd be better off buying the similar-specced machine (I'm sure I saw listed on OzB this week) instead.

    You can always go the other way though - install the free version of Neverware's CloudReady onto any old PC from the last 10 years and it's an easy way to breathe life into an old device with Chrome OS. But that's not going to help your request unfortunately.

    Yes, you can. Complicated.

    You will need the knowledge of setting bios, DOS command to remove Linux startup script, and install Win10 startup script.

    And then install Win10 from a USB.

      My school specifies Windows 2-in-1s, but I phoned their IT help guys, and they say students also use Macbooks and Chromebooks, no problems.
      So best to ask people who actually know, rather then believing documents sent by school administrators.

        As an IT guy, I thank you for double-checking first!!

        I try to make all our work systems & processes work regardless of BYOD or not, but there's always that One Thing that has usability restrictions. That's the Thing that causes the most problems when people want to do it differently, or have the wrong device, or their iPad only has an old connector etc…

        I tried getting in contact with the IT guys at my niece's school, but no one was able to help me. Passed around people who clearly weren't in IT and just told to follow the requirements handed out in the welcome packs as they are the latest available. What else can you do?

      1. Minimum size 9.7"
      2. ANY OS

      Any school specifying Mac or Windows is plainly lazy and probably getting freebies from someone

        Lucky you. My niece's school requires a Windows PC. I assume they must be using some specific application somewhere that it Windows Only.

          @Cousin IT: No the teacher (or part time IT lackey) has no idea.

          Everything is browser based or using widely available apps (think PDF viewers, VLC etc)
          Never seen a strictly only windows .exe file for any of my kids (primary secondary or university)

  Reviews for the i5/8GB model are thin on the ground but the i5 model seems to raise the screen quality from the dim one of the i3/4GB model with the better spec 300 nit IPS screen.
  (I am guessing/hoping it is the same panel other lenovo 13.3 FHD 72% NTSC screens, and that it does not have PWM, and has better colour and wider viewing angles than the 250nit one)

  Good points about the laptop:
  2in1 with 360 hinge
  IPS 300 nit screen is brighter than the 4GB model.
  Weight 1.35kg
  128GB NVMe SSD has more space, faster and I am guessing removable unlike the 64GB eMMC one in the 4GB model (2242 size is more rare, but hoping this is removable and can be upgraded)
  8GB RAM - double the i3 model
  USI stylus compatible
  Should be more comfortable to use on the lap than the Duet.

  The $636 inc GST price equates to a price of USD $450 in the US - only USD$41 more than the usual USD$409 price of the popular i3/4GB model over the last year so seems like a good deal.
