  • What's the normal price?

    • $599 at JB. Agree it would have been nice to show the normal price in the description as well.

  • +1

    Now that's a good price

  • +5

    Flymore Combo $599 save $200

  • -1

It's an ok price but nothing special. Mavic Mini 2 is much better. Would have been a good buy at $299/$399

    • +3

      One can only dream

    • Mavic Mini 2 is much better

Don't know why but DJI says:

      Mavic Mini or Mini 2

There is NO Mavic Mini 2. It is listed under the Mavic category (like the Air 2 and the Mavic 2) but not as a Mavic XXX

      Perhaps it is soooo different?

      • You are correct, "Mavic" has been dropped from the name

  • +1

hi all, I have never owned a drone before, and was thinking of getting one but have been reading drones have a lot of restrictions which makes it kind of useless to just have one you can simply take to the park or even to your backyard to fly around.
    Is this correct?
Also, does DJI physically lock the drones from take off unless you are connected to the internet and DJI gives you explicit permission to fly in the place you are located?
If this is all true, then I will never bother getting a drone.

    • -1

Nope, I was out hiking and flew one last week. Not even a drop of reception. You can even fly it without using a phone.

      • Thanks.

      • +3

Please put a disclaimer not for beginners :)

      • +4

You can even fly it without using a phone.

Yep you can watch it fly away and never return 😂

    • -5

The DJI drones have an on board database of no fly zones that get updated via the app and are enforced by the drones built in GPS.

    • +4

If you're in Victoria, bear in mind that all parks in Victoria are no fly zones that are NOT in the DJI database.

And then there are the Karens around.

I sold mine because of the above.

      • +2

Same as national parks in Australia

        • So you can't fly a drone in any national Park..? Like Kosciusko National Park?

I was thinking to buy one just to try it out on a camping trip.. 😓

          • @bigbadboogieman: We'll definitely at least not in National parks in SA

            • @YellowKnight: Not in NSW either especially in Kosciusko National Park. What's the point if you can't fly it anywhere except your own home.

              15. Can I fly a drone for recreation at a ski resort?

No. Ski resorts in NSW are in Kosciuszko National Park. The plan of management for the park prohibits the landing and take-off of powered aircraft for recreational purposes, including drones, across the entire park.

              https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/topics/parks-reserves-and…

          • -3

@bigbadboogieman: you can't take off from inside the national park, however you can legally take off outside the park and fly into the park.

            • @bernsy: You didn't read anything in the link now did you? 😊 I assume your didn't mean to suggest to just stand outside the park and fly in/out.

Do I need approval to fly a drone in a park for recreation?

Yes. Approval is required to launch, land or operate a drone from within a park for recreational purposes, as drones can interfere with or cause a nuisance to people or animals.

              • -2

@bigbadboogieman: Yes, but technically he didn't say anything about operating it from within the park. You can legally take off from outside the park (inferring you are also outside the park), then fly over the park, as long as you don't land. It might not have been the intention of the legislation, but it is a loophole. Then in your quote above it only mentions taking off and landing. You posted misleading and incomplete information. The rules for Kosciuszko don't necessarily apply to all national parks.

                • +2

@endotherm: Drones do seem to attract the morons who are determined to ruin it for most drone users by causing stricter and stricter rules by their stupidity while flying, agreed.

                  • +1

@mickeyjuiceman: I agree. I think soon enough there will be a business model where people with larger land sizes/acreage will charge entry fee to let drone operators fly on their land.

                • @endotherm: Yeah I also posted the link to the page. I posted about Kosciusko because that was a specific question in my earlier comment.

    • There is one place you are physically locked - in China lol. I was trying to launch off the Great Wall (usually legal), but there was a political conference on that month and they extended a massive no-fly zone around Beijing, and physically wouldn't launch.

      • wow that would have been an epic location for drone footage! Shame

    • +2

Mate these are awesome I definately recommend the fly more combo as you need the 3 batteries to make it worth your while and the other accessories make it great value.I live close to the airport no fly zone but if i go 500 metres down the road I'm ggod to fly.i picked up 2 off these at the start of lasy year on sale for $630 each so I could spend abit of time with my teenage son…..its been great and very much worth the dollars

      • +1

Ok maybe you have convinced me. I will check out this so called Flymore combo. Thanks.

        • +1

I've got the same drone with the flymore combo. Great drone for beginners and yes the Mini 2 is better but also dearer. Depends how much you want to spend.

        • All good glad to hear that you will be very happy with the Fly more combo.Enjoy.Cheers mate

  • Does it fly as smooth as it's shown in the video in windy conditions?

    • Depending on the speed of the wind, yes. They are fairly smooth for such a small unit.

    • When its windy the drone will bob up and down a lot but the gimbal will keep the footage nice and smooth (thats its job :)

    • Ive flown the older model (DJI Spark) during moderate wind and it was fairly steady even 50m in the air. The battery was draining a little quicker but it was stable. I havn't had the guts to try it during high winds but i reckon it will be ok.

    • Does it fly better than an older phantom 3?

  • +2

This is an excellent drone, good price.

Price match at officeworks for further 5% off??

  • I managed to get mini 2 combo for $902 from JB. It wasn't on special. If you can get it around 850. It is a bargain trigger point.

  • Post Dji ban in USA Price for there products prices on downfall.
Hopefully soon we will see further low. 🙂

    • +2

or it could go further up due to low supply.
DJI ban in USA does not stop them from selling it in the US.

Just grabbed one but paid with LatitudePay and it gave me a $20 discount so it was only $379.

    • How do you get $20 discount when you paying with latitudepay? Is that at the counter or you have to buy it online?

      • I just went through the online checkout process at Good Guys and when it transferred me to LatitudePay it just said $20 off. No idea if it’s a current promo but I didn’t do anything special the $20 discount just showed on the LatitudePay payment screen.

        • I know it is a promo been advertised by Latitudepay but wasn't sure if it works at the counter or not. Anyway thanks for your response, hope this deal is up till tomorrow and I'll grab one soon

I managed to price match this at Anaconda today where they have a 10% price beat.
After that the mini 2 fly more came down to $805.

    • +2

what is the procedure for price beat there?

    • You forgot $10 sign up /birthday bonus..

  • Does "DJI Care Refresh" worth it for $59?
Edit: assuming 5% price beat with OW for the flymore

    • +1

Yes but you need to return the pieces to DJI so it won’t cover fly-offs or if you lose it in the ocean!

      • +1

        Lol figured it as much
I’m talking more about battery running out while it’s still in your line of sight and you actually find the pieces hehe

  • I wonder why they're trying to discount this model so often now and the reasoning behind getting rid of the stock. Hmmm

    • +3

      2 is out

  • worth getting officeworks pricematch? not sure if it's worth the effort. and it's closed now so tomorrow morning this could be sold out

    • They don’t have it in store anyway, it’s an online only item, you need to go to store and put the order there to click and collect. Stores open till 11pm. Be ready to show that they are both the same even though OW site does not state “more” there lol

    • If you have cash rewards it 5% so almost same as ow price beat without hassle.

      • That's debatable…

  • +2

I have one and it is literally the best, recommend the fly more combo for sure. If there are any questions about this drone feel free to ask me and I will be happy to answer

    • Is it any good for beginners or would the 2 be more suitable? Also has it locked you out of flying anywhere here in Oz? Cheers

      • Hi, it is amazing for beginners as it is hard to lose it due to all the safety features such as auto return etc. it hasn’t physically locked me out of flying anywhere yet.

  • DJI Store on Amazon sell for the same price.

  • +2

Great Deal! Been using one of these for a trip around Australia the last 12 months and love it! Have some great footage that i'm sure we'll look back on in years to come and be so glad that we bought one ;)

    • Do you mind sharing some shots or footage you have taken with this? Would love to get one if it does a decent job :)

      • +1

        Heaps of examples on Youtube

  • Is it worth getting combo? 2 extra batteries, charger, bag, propeller guards…. $200 extra.

    • Yes. Having more than one battery is very useful.

    • Worthwhile if you have the cash but if things are tight you can get by with charging it on the go with a cheap battery bank

  • Oh man wish they had one of these deals again: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/490047

  • +1

Thanks! Got the combo and $27.23 cashback via cashrewards 👌

    • +1

Good for you if it tracked. Had to go to OW to get the same
Lost trust with cashbacks these days

  • -1

Genuine question - What's the penalty if someone is breaching the national park rules? Get fined or what?

  • +1

    Same price now at Officeworks

  • Any good deal for dji care refresh for mini?

    • some resellers are selling it for $59 but not sure if it still works after the 48 hour rule on activation of the drone.

      • +1

I haven’t opened and started using it yet.
I am planning to look for the dji care first

  • can someone please share a recent receipt, I can try price match in store.
