I feel people got these for around $600 or so I think. Maybe coz this one has more space?

    • +6

The $600 was for 64GB version?

    • +1

Yeah the Earlier JBhifi XR version for $699 i feel was the sweet spot

      • Still available that deal.

    • +15

      Does it run iOS?

        • +18

Yep, posting android in apple deal, typical fanboy?

        • +1

We neg a deal because you're a fan of alternate ecosystem?

        • +6

Why do fandroids feel so insecure that they need to suggest an Android phone when someone posts an iPhone deal?

            • @stephendt: If someone wanted a cheapo budget phone, they would buy an el cheapo chinese android phone…. Although some people put value into quality, support, warranty, and some also want iOS phones to continue using their existing ecosystem…. I assume you can understand this basic premise?

              • +6

@onlinepred: My iphone 7 has lasted me since 2017. My MIL has had 3 cheaper android phones in the same period.

                • @DavoW: Yep it's a big waste buying cheapo phones. Granted you can buy 3 androids and still save money, but they won't be comparable on any level.

                  • +1

@onlinepred: I’d rather not create so much electronic waste, and that’s the biggest issue for me.

                    • @DavoW: agreed. Although not everyone has thousands to spend up front hey.

                • @DavoW: Then don't buy $80 android phones from Woolworths then. The $200-400 Xiaomi phones on the other hand are going to provide a comparable level of reliability as an iPhone double its price. I still have my Redmi Note 3 from 2016 working a treat, albeit it got a new battery last year. I also have an iPhone 6s that is on its third battery already. I just can't see why iPhones are worth it, sorry!

        • lol you're the Android simp turning up on an iPhone deal, brobro.

          • -2

@ThithLord: I only simp for good value. There's a difference.

            • -1

@stephendt: Well how about you sit in threads about Android phones and continue the old jerky-jerk there? People who use iPhones see the inherent value in them - if you don't, good for you!

      Hardly a replacement.

      comparing apples and oranges. Literally.

      • +1

More like Apples and Lemons, lmao

    touch id FTW

  • If you can go with 128G and can pay a bit more, There are plenty of refurbish iPhone 11 128gb around. I think those would be a better choice.

This is simply too small for a phone in 2020. Unless you are after a really phone.

    • Where?

      • Catch, OzMobile, Green Gadget……

They are everywhere, just google it.

    • +8

This is simply too small for a phone in 2020.

I’m using a gen 1 SE with 4” screen and the world hasn’t exploded.

Unless you are after a really phone.

      A really phone?

      • +1

I nearly read that as an iPhone 4 and nearly fell off my chair

      • -2

        a really small phone.

      • +1

Gen 1 SE was perfect size. I hate the big phone trend.

    • +4

I have a 12 mini and it is a perfect size. For me. My son has this SE. He wanted Touch ID and an iPhone. Most people like bigger phones, but I like them smaller.
One of the advantages of capitalism over any other system is it does a great job of delivering a range of products so there is something for everyone.

  • -1

This or the iPhone 12 mini? I'm due to upgrade my iPhone 7, and haven't kept up with the latest trends in iPhones. Needs to be similar size to the iPhone 7 - which I think the SE is, correct?

    • +1

Iphone 12. Same size as 7.

    • +2

Huge price difference IMO but if that doesn't matter 12 mini is slightly smaller lighter but with bigger screen. SE is in fact the same size and screen as the 7. One thing is 12 mini uses Face ID or key in passcode to unlock screen has no Touch ID and the SE does have Touch ID but no face ID.

    • +5

12 mini every day if the price is not a problem. It has a better processor (ie will be supported longer), MUCH better screen and camera and doesn't have the huge bezels of the SE.

    • +1

I upgraded from the 7 to this SE. it’s exactly the same size, with the extra benefit being they fit the same size case. So if you have invested in a quality case you can continue to use it on this model.

    • Thanks all - I will grab a 12 mini. :)

      • +2

I went from a 7 to a mini. If you want a small phone you will be as happy as I am.
I didn’t realise how slow the 7 was until I got the mini.
The mini is actually shorter than the SE, but the screen is full body and thus larger. The battery lasts a bit longer, the screen is brighter (Oled vs IPS LED) and the camera is a couple of generations newer and much higher performance.
The only reason to buy an SE is price, or if you must have Touch ID. Personally I am enjoying Face ID.

        • Awesome - thanks for the feedback!

    • +2

i had the same choice recently but going from a 6S!! Went with the 12 mini. Great phone, great screen etc and a perfect size (for me) . I can actually use it with one hand.

  • For this money just buy an iPhone 11.

    • +2

      iPhone 11 256gb is $1250

    • No TouchID
      Bulkier form factor size

For these 2 reasons alone is sufficient for many to go the SE over the 11

  • +4

$799.96 at Costco, membership required though.
    https://www.costco.com.au/TVs-Electronics-Technology/Mobile-…

    • Is this Costco’s normal price? Anyone know if jb or ow beat or match them?

      • Membership required so probably not. But you can give it a try.

  • +1

Thanks for the deal. Just bought one for a family member. I know there’s a myriad of other options but when you’re given the instructions to find a phone that’s new, with iOS, lots of storage, small as possible, and “still has the button” this really is the only option. Resistance to change is real in older folks.

    • +1

Also for many people, the main criteria’s are simplicity and after sale service. Not everyone has the patience or technical knowledge to trouble shoot issues, or trying to communicate with overseas helpline. When it’s much simpler to walk into an Apple store to get tech help or resolving issues.

      • +1

Great points. As I’m the “tech support” for my family I like to keep it simple. If they’re happy then I’m happy.

  • +2

The design is dated. Such a waste of front screen real estate which is even more important on a smaller phone

    • +3

      That's why the mini exists….

    • +2

It is the width you want small, to hold and operate one-handed.
The extra bezel on top and bottom does not matter so much.

  • Anyone know of a 12 pro max deal going?

  • +1

White still around with a different link https://www.davidjones.com/Product/23490012/IPHONE-SE-256GB

  • I have this as a work phone although it's just the 64 GB version.
They have given me an otter box case which does maker it bulky.
I think it is a great phone if you're after the hardware, the camera is pretty good for a single clicker and is snappy.

I would recommend a slim Case if you want it to be as thin as possible.

  • +2

Many are missing the point of the SE Iphone. It was deliberately designed to be this size as Apple marketing determined a while ago now that men in particular wanted a pocket sized phone that was easy to operate one-handed and didn't protrude from their trouser pockets like the oversized fashion accessory phones have become…as exhibited by mostly female millennials. Then they simply installed the technology of the sibling phones.Works for me…..

I got price beat with Officeworks for $707.08. This afternoon noticed extra 10% was applied to 256gb version.
