Brewista Variable Digital Kettle 1.2L $119.95 + $7.95 Shipping @ Proud Mary Coffee

110

Have been looking for a replacement kettle with variable temperature control for a while.
So many had terrible reviews and finally discovered this one which appears to be more reliable than other brands like KitchenAid and Breville.
Generally priced at least $150+ elsewhere.

I just threw mine in the bin. Gone through.a few. They just rust way too easy.

I'm now using the Kmart smart WiFi kettle with a timemore non electric kettle. Couldn't be happier

If I was to go a full variable electric, I'd splash the money for a stagg ekg

    • That’s a shame, was hoping they would last longer

    • This particular brand?

    • Rust where? Mine is fine, descale every month.

      • External

This is the only one that has rusted. It has been a few years.

I've had another two that the electronics failed.

Function wise, it's great though. Just a little heavy for perfect control (which is why I am liking using a gooseneck with no electrics for my pour overs).

        • Hmm… If this ever breaks down I'll probably go for a Stagg EKG, I mainly brew light roasts so decanting into a regular gooseneck seems less than ideal due to heat loss, and a stove-top seems a bit too fiddly to get my temperatures down consistently.

          • @Jasonissm: I use light wash. Mostly Proud Mary beans. Heat loss isn't much. Boil at 100, you lose a few degrees to be where you want to be at.

And honestly, the difference between pouring over at 95 degrees or 98 degrees is not much. As long as your not burning it (100+ degrees) or using luke warm water….heat loss isn't really something major.

  • I got the Aldi one, and it's brilliant! 40 bucks.

  • The Shark. Variable temp in 5 degree increments and a temp hold function. 15 years plus, never descaled and still going strong.

    • Where did you get it from?

      • Harvey Norman. 60 bucks on sale. I wonder if they still make them.

Was handy for warming water to set temperatures for infant formula.

i have the Stagg EKG (a gooseneck kettle design like this) pureply for pourover coffee. using this for tea is annoying because of the slow pour rate. i wouldn't recommend a kettle like this unless you're doing pourover coffee
